Gold balls up for grabs

The girls basketball state championships get underway this morning with neighboring Forrest taking on Wayne County in Class A action. The District 9-A champions have as good of a chance as anybody as taking home a gold ball as it's their third straight trip to the 'Boro. Without too much knowledge of the other teams from the far corners of the state, I am going to do my best to predict the finalists in each classification. Feel free to weigh in on your own thoughts. It should be exciting as Chapel Hill, Lewisburg and Shelbyville are all represented from Marshall and Bedford Counties, respectively. Class A Jackson County 49, Middleton 45 Class AA Upperman 59, Marshall County 49 Class AAA Shelbyville Central 51, Cleveland 44 Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Wayne County beat the crap out of Santa Fe, so I'd be surprised if Forrest is able to get past them. I think the winner of the Forrest game has a good shot at the finals. I also am picking JC to win it though in "A" ball.
Forrest just lost to Wayne County 59-50. The Lady Rockets' season ends with a record of 29-4.
Shelbyville vs Oak Ridge Thursday night 7pm (it will be a tough game and a darn good one) But I know our Eaglettes will come out on top..
Woo Hoo- Go Eaglettes!!!!
Jackson County took down Wartburg Central 47-34. Jackson County and Wayne County match up now on Friday at 11 a.m.
Too bad the top two teams in my opinion must meet this before the finals. Gotta love a blind draw..
Don't count out Bradford just yet!
Oh yeah, Bradford is very solid at the guard spots. They will make some noise. After watching the first day of action, my Class A prediction was way off. Clarkrange should win it.

I am going to go ahead and take Union City, Dyer County and Antioch as the three boys state champions. We'll see if my predictions are any better with this gender.
