The spring sports season is winding down. The first years of existence for Harris Middle softball and baseball, Cascade Middle baseball and softball and Community Junior High baseball are all done. Adding five new teams on top of Liberty's second year of baseball to go with the teams that have been here for years was exhausting for us to say the least.

Now, several of the high school teams are done as well. But, there are still some alive that have legitimate shots at making the Spring Fling in Murfreesboro.

Shelbyville soccer and boys tennis continue to steamroll everybody. Cascade baseball and softball have already locked in spots in their respective region tournaments. Webb baseball is making some noise.

Of all the teams still standing, who do you think has the best shot and bringing home the heaviest hardware?

Cascade baseball . . . they are doing some serious damage and have some great talent and lots of heart!

I also hope the Shelbyville tennis team does well!

I'd say both the teams mentioned above have the best shot. I haven't followed the soccer this year, but I know Neil always has a great team. Chris Parker's Champions just won their second district title in a row and are currently ranked 3rd in the state, so I'm going to predict a second trip to state for them.

cascade has a good chance to make it again but summertown or richland will be a tough game in the sectional no matter where it is played. i think their region is much stronger than cascade's this year. it will be a close game though. shelbyville soccer is really quick from what I hear so hopefully they can make it but riverdale or blackman will be a tough first region game for them. it won't be easy for either team to make it.

I would say Cascade's section as a whole is down from year's past. It is definitely top heavy with Summertown, Cascade, Richland and Nashville Christian. We'll see which two make it to Murfreesboro from the eight. I am sure the likes of Culleoka, MTC and Perry County want respect as well. The sections out west may have the top tier teams to beat.

I will go with Cascade baseball and Shelbyville soccer. Cascade is certainly one of the best teams in single A ball. I know the west was pretty good last year but the top eight teams in single A are as follows this year in no particular order. Cascade, Richland, Friendship Christian, Lookout Valley, Rockwood, JCS,and Huntington. I hope Cascade goes all the way but getting past Richland or Summertown will be a tough task in itself. Good luck to all of the local teams that represent Bedford County!

If the champs stay focused & play their game they can do anything....
