In less than two hours, an unranked Tennessee team welcomes No. 4 Florida to Knoxville.
Even the most loyal of Volunteer fans don't feel too good about this one. Why should they? Losing the season opener to a far inferior UCLA team left a taste in Volnation's mouth that could last for quite a while. UT needs to approach this one like their legacy and chance at an SEC title are on the line. In a sense, they are. Losing four straight to Gator coach Urban Meyer would create even more dissension among Vol supporters. Plus, you don't want to fall behind the eight ball this early in the SEC East race and have to scoreboard watch the rest of the fall in hopes of getting back to Atlanta. What the Vols need to do is come out and hit the Gators in the mouth. If it takes an unnecessary roughness penalty to get Neyland Stadium and the sideline on their feet, then so be it. It's time to take back Rocky Top. Here's what else: 1. Be patient with the run game 2. Find a way to get Eric Berry the ball on offense 3. Go for it on fourth-and-short at midfield 4. Check down to tight end Brandon Warren instead of forcing the ball outside 5. Blitz Tim Tebow from all angles 6. Get physical with Florida athletes 7. Keep it simple for Jonathan Crompton 8. Don't let anyone off the bench (i.e. Marsalous Johnson or Antonio Gaines) guard Percy Harvin That's all I've got from Interstate 40 for now. If I think of anything in the next 30 miles I'll come back. Kickoff is at 2:30 on CBS. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Hmmm 30-6... Gators!
The Vols are in DESPERATE need of something/someone new. This is ridiculous.
What a disgrace - Phil Fulmer has had enough time to correct Tennessee's problems! Yet, each year, the program appears to be in steady decline. Maybe it will take a ready losing and devastating season for the folks in Knoxville to wake up to the fact that Phil Fulmer needs to go.
I am so tired of people saying they are Tennessee fans but buddy when they lose all people want to do is throw in their two cents in what should be done.If these people think they can do a better job why don't they send in their applications for the job.People are saying Fulmer needs to be fired well I say be careful what you ask for.If you are a true VOLS fan you stick with them in the good times and the bad times.I am sick and tired of wishy-washy fans who only like them when they are winning.
I am pretty sure we still like the team, but we don't bury our heads in the sand and pretend a problem doesn't exist.
