Cutler looking

Former Vanderbilt star quarterback Jay Cutler has formally asked the Denver Broncos to trade him. He said Sunday evening that he will not attend the team's first meeting today.

Cutler's relationship with the new regime in Denver, including new head coach Josh McDaniels, has been rocky to say the least.

The Broncos are going to want a quarterback in return in any trade they make -- and probably draft picks as well.

Are the Tennessee Titans interested at all? Kerry Collins has been in the NFL a decade and a half. Vince Young has done little to show he is better than a veteran the Titans pulled out of retirement simply to mentor Young and be an insurance policy.

Would you want Cutler on your team? Denver fans have been vocal about how disappointed they are with him for being outraged by the trade rumors. Would the Titans be better with Cutler or Collins/Young for the present/future?

I would take Cutler in a heartbeat . . . he has potential and at least wants to play football unlike Young who thinks he is owed everything.

The titans must get rid of Young first. However, I'm afraid nobody wants him and I can understand why. We should have drafter Cutler in the first place.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda. It's easy to second guess at this point. That is just not fair to do. Sure, anybody with a brain would rather have taken Cutler than Young looking back, but we all know Young and Leinart were the two all the "experts" had listed as the top two quarterbacks with Cutler third in nearly everybody's rankings. Personally, I would love to have Cutler now, but the timing may not be right. If we could trade Young, it could possibly be an option, but who wants him? Also, Kerry Collins deserves to be the starter, so would Cutler be a backup for a year or two? Not likely. It's all about timing in this case and that's just the way it goes.

I would want Culter on the Titans. But right now the Titans are not set up for throwing the ball 35-40 times a game every game, however Cutler did thrive under Himerdinger's offense while in the Mile High City, but we got the type of quaterback we need in Collins, control the game and make smart throws when we need them and take a couple of shots down field. If we want pay Haynesworth, I don't think we will go after Culter or carry three high paid QB's.

Side note: What are the Titans going to do now that Sims is gone?

I received a text yesterday that stated ESPN Radio was reporting Tenneessee offered 1st and 3rd round draft picks and Kerry Collins for Cutler...

I cant find any truth to it on the web or 104.5 the zone. Have you heard this???

I can't imagine that you'll find much of any truth to rumors. That sounds like a pretty steep price tag, but that's what happens when you make mistakes at the top of the draft. They set you back years in advance. Blair Thomas, Ryan Leaf, Heath Shuler, Charles Rogers, Andre Ware, Peter Warrick, etc., are just some examples. Missing in the top 10 is only amplified when a team drafts a QB because they wait much longer in hopes that guy develops. How weird would it be if the Titans made such a deal for Cutler and he started ahead of Young? I don't see that happening though. Tampa Bay is sounding like a more likely destination. Salary cap wise, I wonder if Young would have to be in a deal. It's hard to tie up too much money in one spot in the lineup (see New England trading Cassell).

Would Titans fans be happy with Cutler as their starter? Do any still think Young is better? When the chips are down, do the Titans want to see Cutler or Collins under center late this summer?

Collins is the man for a year or maybe two. The only way the Titans will take Cutler is if he agrees to be a backup for a reasonable amount of money. Don't see that happening. It's easy to talk about, but the timing is not right unless something unforseen happens. I'd love to have Cutler (maybe one day), but he's proven nothing in this league compared to Collins. I'd much rather have a savvy veteran who throws very few picks, makes good decisions, and wins football games. This team needs his leadership. It's as simple as that.

With so much money tied up in Young and more to come in the next few years, what are the options with him? Some voice to me that trading him for a big star receiver would be the answer but with his head messed up, who would want him now?

I think the fans are content with Collins, I know I am. I am just worried about a future with Young.
