Good news? Bad news?

If there's one thing Lane Kiffin's done since taking over the football program at Tennesee, it's been getting the Orange and White back in the news.
Whether it was firing back at South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier about questions over whether or not Kiffin took the necessary tests before getting started recruiting or accusing Florida coach Urban Meyer of cheating, Kiffin's been pretty shrewd about getting the "Power T" back on SportsCenter. Kiffin seems content with how he's perceived thus far around the Southeastern Conference because the Volunteers landed some big-name recruits at the last minute and currently have six verbal commits for 2010. What does Orange Nation think of Kiffin's tactics? Do fans even care how the rest of the SEC views UT? Is it truly a case of any news being good news or is it more important to stay classy in every aspect? Don't be confused. Phillip Fulmer wasn't replaced because the university wanted to improve their public image. Kiffin and his staff were brought on to win college football games. Chances are, some of the comments Kiffin went with back in February will be brought up in game day preparations this fall. And, if some of the coaches like Meyer and Alabama coach Nick Saban are in a position to embarrass the Vols, they just might do it. Another 59-20 loss in Gainesville or 41-17 beating in Tuscaloosa will certainly be news then. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

I'm afraid the Florida and Alabama games will get really ugly, especially Florida. Tebow and the boys are absolutely loaded.
WOW..Kiffin admits to doing all this to go get people to talk about the vols. Thats worse than if the comments were made off the top of his head. Around the horn on ESPN crucified Kiffin last night. You vol fans should be proud...be really proud....you have sold yourself to an immature iodiot and deep down you know it. Any publicity is good publicity...yeah right...how did that work for the hindenburg.
I don't see a Monte Kiffin defense giving up to many points this year. I realize Florida is loaded but let's keep this in mind Monte's Tampa 2 has changed the face of the NFL. I think he will be prepared and by the looks of it he has kids all over the nation wanting to play for a NFL Guru. So all the Tennessee hater's take your shots. Because Lane is not the person to worry about... it is Monte who will be the reason Tennessee gets back on top. This is coming from someone who is not a Tennessee Fan.
If it weren't for Monte where would Lane be? There is no doubt that Monte is the backbone of this staff and is one of if not the greatest defensive minds ever. Tennessee's problems in the past however has not been on the defensive side of the ball. Its gonna be fun to see how Monte defends Floridas offense and am not sure he has the talent quite yet at Tennessee to slow them down. The best investment papa can make right now is a muzzle for his son to wear. It takes more than a pretty wife and a popular dad to win in the SEC just ask Mike Shula. This is coming from someone who is not a Tennessee fan.
Granted Lane is not making friends in the SEC, but neither did Urban, Nick,or The Ole Ball Coach, etc... What Lane has done by all this spouting off is given Tennessee the spotlight. y Tennessee fans should not be worried about Lane he is not going to be doing the coaching. His dad is going to call the Defense, he has the most qualified G.A. in the NCAA, Ex-Syracuse coordinator Mitch Browning, Quick Sidenote: I think he coached two really good running backs, Barber and Maroney while he was with Glen Mason at Minnesota, Do you recall those two running backs Nick Saban, Music City Bowl maybe.... Just Kidding... But I figured I would have to jar the memory with Brownings credibility as a great coach.... Back to my post, Lane has nothing to do but spout off at the mouth. He has his brain trust, all he has to do is bring in the players and keep riding the coattails of his dad. I mean him and Coach Bench Press, I mean Coach O can bring in the Players just ask Houston Nutt and Pete at USC. Just my two cents I can't wait to till Fall.
Mitch Browning is one heck of a GA I will agree. He will not stay at that position long. He may be the only GA in the country calling plays before its over.
