Perfect vehicle doesn't existPosted Monday, August 27, 2007, at 10:21 AM
For a car nut like me, the perfect vehicle seems hard to find. I want a truck, sports car and economy car -- all rolled into one.
Big sport utility vehicles equal high gas usage (and expenditures) but offer strong, protective shells. Small cars are gas-sippers with much less cost to drivers. but are sitting targets for large SUVs in crashes. I'm in the middle, with what I guess would be considered a small mid-sized SUV ('06 Honda CR-V). It's small enough that I can't see around larger trucks or SUVs at intersections -- and if I do battle with a Hummer I'll likely be the loser. And sometimes I wish I'd bought a Chevy Tahoe, simply because the Honda's a little slow at times and has this irritating trait of occasionally briefly spinning its front tires at very low speeds coming from a dead stop if I'm going uphill or the wheels are turned -- and without a lead foot on the gas pedal. Supposedly it has something to do with the traction control system. I traded for the Honda at a time when gas prices were expected to explode. They fell soon afterwards. My perfect vehicle would handle like a sports car yet have a smooth, luxury car-type ride; go from 0-60 in, let's say, 6.0 seconds; get 25 MPG city; and go through creeks and boulders like the toughest Jeep. Obviously my perfect vehicle doesn't exist. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

neither does mine, don't feel bad.
I had a Nissan Murano once... It was pretty fast, but it wasn't made for offroad adventures...
I think we all have our thoughts of the perfect car, but it seems no manufacturer wants to make one...
I have the perfect car. It's paid for :)
