Na ha, hey hey, on and on...Posted Friday, December 7, 2007, at 9:23 AM
It's total trivia time, and a case of the 'na-na's: On Thursday The Rock @ 105.9 was playing "Hey Jude" by the Beatles. The final few minutes of the song go "na na, na na na na, na na na na, hey Jude," over and over again. I got to wondering exactly how many minutes that goes on and how many "na na's" are in the song.
The Internet song sites I checked list lyrics only to the point where the na na's begin. That reminds me of "Na Na Hey Hey, Kiss Him Goodbye" from roughly the same period in the late 1960s. How many "na na's" in that one? It actually goes, "na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye." You knew, of course, that a group called Steam recorded it. Okay, maybe you didn't know. Steam was apparently never heard from again. But their song lives on. And so do the na na's, on and on and on and on... David,
I have counted the repeats at the end of the "Hey Jude" song. I have counted 13 repeats of the chorus you mentioned. I was in Jr High when this song was popular as was Steam's song. Good memories...
We hear Steam's song a lot at the end of basketball games when one team's fans jeer the other when it is apparent that they have won.
Just heard the whole "Hey Jude" song again. There are 18 repeats...
