Protecting the square's lookPosted Monday, January 14, 2008, at 9:00 AM
Shelbyville City Council has voted to loosen restrictions on apartments on the public square.
We've run stories on two apartment dwellers in individual buildings. They have tasteful homes and are an asset to the square.
And the Gunter Building is largely apartments. It seems to be working well, also.
But let's hope there are enough zoning restrictions remaining to keep out an eyesore.
The last thing we need in the symbolic center of the city is another crime-ridden Bedford Manor or another trash-strewn, falling-apart-when-new development.
