John McCain's 'friend'Posted Thursday, February 21, 2008, at 12:32 PM
So does married John McCain have a girlfriend?
Obviously we don't know yet if there's a "relationship" with a lobbyist whose clients he allegedly favored. One of the things I've learned over the years is not to give too much credence to unproven personal allegations.
But extremely vehement reactions from the accused, as opposed to simple denials and shrugging off the accusations, often are signs that there's at least some truth involved to the claims.
Watch McCain and see how he reacts while considering that he's said to be hot-tempered. Look at his body language: Arms crossed tightly while speaking? Looking directly at questioners and TV cameras -- or looking away with eyes averted or darting from side to side? And listen to his words: Repeatedly, over and over and over and over again, denying the same thing?
If, instead of a simple denial, he points his finger at TV cameras and insists, "I did NOT..." (ever seen that before??) it could indicate something as well.
Can't help but wonder what Hillary's take on this will be, if she can find time to look past Barack Obama in the Democratic primary. Or, especially, if outspoken Bill has a comment on this one.
