Chelsea: A future president?Posted Monday, May 12, 2008, at 7:56 AM
Occasionally, among the frequent television images of Hillary and still-running Bill Clinton, we see daughter Chelsea Clinton.
Usually, she's introducing her mother to a crowd or hitting the campaign trail solo. Chelsea's talkative to crowds but consistently refuses media interviews. Chelsea comes across to me as a class act -- and as someone whose future probably includes something better than politics. I'd like to see her become a little more open with the press. But, combine how she was sheltered from coverage as a youth and having seen her father harshly criticized (deservedly so, I think) after his lies in the Monica Lewinsky scandal, I can also understand how she may be a little hesitant to open up. Chelsea seems cool, laid-back and much less of a spotlight hog than Bill. In other words, not the "politician" type. America may be ready for an anti-politician personality, though. Imagine campaigning with the family name but not the family baggage. Chelsea for President, someday? Maybe, in spite of her outward focus away from a personal political future, she's shrewdly building some long-term plans. After all, she's got the connections. Daughters may not be expected to be "clones" of their family as much as sons.
They may not have to go against as many expectations to be their own person.
I'm waiting to see what happens with Rosie Schwartzenegger and her siblings as well as any Matlin/Carver offspring.
Two high profile parents and exposure to both political parties could result in children who make choices based on the merits of an idea rather than a group affiliation or a desire for fame.
The Bushes have a Daughter, and the Clintons have a Daughter. So the Legacy may go on....... Well, what do you know Obama does too. And they are all females. Geeesss.
I saw that jkelly, I wasn't sure if he really believed that or if he was attempting humor.
I do not trust the man but of course that is my personal opinion of him. I have said it from the beginning and I still say it, he is not what he pretends to be. Nor can I understand how a nothing Senator from Illinois can get this amount of campaign funds..he has never done anything of any importance for anyone except himself.
How anyone, Republican or Democrat can support a man who believes in Partial Birth Abortion and voted against the rights of a child who is born alive due to a blotched abortion is beyond me. No matter what your beliefs are concerning abortion Partial birth abortions and the Infant Born Alive Act are entirely different matters.
I will never ever in this lifetime vote for Barack Obama. Satan himself could run against him and I would be forced to vote for Satan.
Did anyone see the video of Barack Obama saying he had been to all the states campaigning, all 57 of them.....except for Hawaii and Alaska......LOL .....he doesn't even know how many states there are in the US!!!. He is pulling the wool over everyones eyes and I hope America can be smart enough to see it before it is too late.
I'd love to watch as the less noble members of the media have to treat a person they had unfairly ridiculed for being "ugly" or "uncool" with respect earned by his or her character and accomplishments.
If Lynda,Amy,Chelsea, etc. had had their own fashion dolls, posters and tween clothing line, maybe they would never have cultivated their intellect, learned empathy, lived in the real world and honed the parts of themselves that matter long after media attention is forgotten.
I'd like to elect an outsider who knows the workings of the inside.
Maybe, one day,a Pentagon employee,a diplomat,a Secret Service operative, or White House chef will run for office.
Dolittle....I think you mean ....it's not over until the lady in the pants suit sings...lol
I know what Brian Mosely and Dolittle are talking about...I hear it all the time..We don't need another Clinton in the house or We can't have Bush..Clinton...Bush and then Clinton in the white House again. It is not the name...It is the person...
I didn't realize we voted based on people's names. If that be the case Barack Hussein Obama has a large problem.
There will not be another Clinton following a Bush. If Hillary took the ear plugs out, she'd hear the fat lady singing now.
Conenctions? I thought we had gotten away from a system of hereditary monarchy some 200 years ago. Or are we talking about a hereditary matriarchy?
Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton....the people are weary of both clans.
