What's in a cloud?Posted Monday, May 19, 2008, at 11:17 AM
What do these clouds resemble in your minds?
Ever look at clouds? When I was a young boy I'd look at clouds and see images of just about everything -- but mostly scoops of vanilla ice cream. I rarely pay particular attention to clouds now unless they're with incoming severe storms. But, for some reason, this one grabbed my attention. To me, it resembles a jet with a large engine and exhaust on its side and a second, still smaller, engine beside the first one. But I can also see a resemblance to a whale with a smaller, baby whale by its side. And the smaller cloud underneath looks sort of like a near head-on look at an airplane with wings extending from each side. What do you see? Or are these just clouds to you? I used to love doing this with clouds. I definitely see the baby whale so I would have to add the Momma by default.
Of course the Momma could be the nose of a 747. The bottom cloud I would probably have discounted as a cloud, but now that you mention it, I can see your front of an airplane pointing slightly left. Is that the direction you saw?
At 1st look I saw a plane also...I love to look at the clouds...When I lived in North Carolina on the beach I looked at the clouds all the time...I love it when the sun shines thru the clouds..I always say that is when the windows are open in Heaven and the angels are looking down on us...Thank You for such a wonderful picture...
Bows and flows of angel hair ....
Seriously,I saw a profile resembling old Chief Wahoo and a zeppelin, schools of (flying?) fish, the white doggy-looking dragon from the Never-ending Story and,on a second look, the little planes and mama and baby whale.
Remember this Peanuts cartoon?
Lucy: If you use your imagination, you can see lots of things in the cloud formations...what do you think you see, Linus?
Linus: Well, those clouds up there look to me like the map of the British Honduras on the Caribbean...that cloud up there looks a little like the profile of Thomas Eakins, the famous painter and sculptor...and that group of clouds over there gives me the impression of the stoning of Stephen...I can see the Apostle Paul standing there to one side....
Lucy: Uh huh....that's very good....what do you see in the clouds, Charlie Brown?
Charlie Brown: Well, I was going to say I saw a ducky and a horsie, but I changed my mind!
You beat me to it Quantumcat! It was the first thing that came to mind when I read the question.
I thought of the Peanuts gang also.
I loved looking at the clouds when I was young. I would lie in the grass while checking them out. About 14 years ago I tried this out on my grandchildren. We had a quilt on the ground, & I got down with the 3 of them. I think they thought I was crazy, especially when I went from identifying cloud shapes to making necklaces from clover blossoms.
David..Yesterday when I rode to Manchester to have my 6 week blood work done...because of you I rode looking at the clouds..saw alot of pretty ones..but nothing that looked like anything...thanks...It made this one trip alot easier for me this time..I did not ride and worry what they would find in my blood work..thanks...
I take pictures of the clouds every chance I get... I have seen more beautiful sunsets in TN than anywhere else in the U.S.
