When will Hillary admit defeat?Posted Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at 9:00 AM
Imagine a brave, tough marathon runner.
On and on the runner goes, racing into the sunset, sweat pouring, determined to reach the finish line.
Problem is, the winner's already crossed the line and moved on. A valient try -- and, at this point, a wasted effort.
Yet Hillary Clinton refuses to back down.
There come times in many of our lives when one has to admit defeat and set new goals. It's time for Clinton to admit that she and Bill aren't going to run the country this time around.
I'm not thrilled about this fall's elections. Sabre-rattling John McCain says he won't negotiate with sworn enemies. Barack Obama may go too far to the other extreme.
Will we really leave Iraq? Will gas prices fall or keep rising? Is either major candidate prepared to handle those unexpected crises that suddenly pop up?
And, on issue after issue, candidates proclaim they'll fix the nation's problems despite the fact Congress and big business often wield the real power.
More hot air, just in time for summer.
