Expanding Griffin Park

A 'for sale' sign now adorns the land at the east (Horse Mountain Road) entrance to H.V. Griffin Park.
Even though budgets are tight now, it would be nice if Shelbyville officials could scrape up some money from somewhere to buy that land for possible expansion. As it is now, the park is in risk of being landlocked since there's already development on its west, south and part of its east sides. Over the years, some Shelbyville officials haven't seemed to understand the concept of thinking ahead. Here's a time to do so, if financially possible. -AMEN! Park preservation and expansion would be of great benefit to entire county.
I agree.
Foresight is a good thing whether it leads us to do something or think better of the idea.
I agree also . . . if nothing else they could put a soccer field there that they claim they are needing.
There was talk last year of taking the grassy area, where the retention ditch is, for parking and more baseball fields. I have commented to others that they need to buy the area that is for sale and build these fields and soccer fields there.
I think we need to keep the open grassy area as it is. We need to keep an area that can be available for many types of activities.
I also agree with you Eastsidemom....Keep it GREEN so we can all use it.....
I believe they should buy this land and expand the park so that there can be more programs for all ages!!! It would be great!
DOES ANYONE KONW HOW MUCH OUR PARK BUDGET IS IN THE RED? IF NOT CALL SOME OF OUR COUNCIL PEOPLE AND ASK. WE NEED MORE JOBS!
