When no one hears

Posted Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at 2:43 PM

Does anyone else feel like no one's listening?

Obama and McCain are talking. But I've tuned them out for the time being because they're just pandering to potential voters. I'll start listening again nearer to election time, or if one says something drastic. Will they do much of what they promise? Probably not.

Gas prices keep rising. The blame's being placed on everyone from the oil industry to foreign countries to the actual consumers. No one's listening to the average American whose budget is being crunched.

If they'd listen, I'd go after a few greedy, big-money stockholders who are willing to destroy American corporations. Those individuals, or investment groups, forcing cuts in quality, consumer price increases beyond reason and/or job moves to cheap-labor foreign countries in the name of increased value for stockholders.

If you could have a direct audience with an individual or group -- and be promised direct results due to your discussion -- who would it be? And what would you ask?

Congress and the President,

I'd ask them a variety of questions such as:

-Why they get annual raises and it took them over a decade to give the American people a raise.

-Why they choose to represent corporations, lobbyists, and other special interest groups, instead of the "people"...

-Why they didn't "Drill for oil" when Republicans were a full majority in Congress (for the first 6 years), REGARDLESS of the price...

-Why they continue to deny healthcare to hard-working LEGAL U.S. citizens who have been denied for phony reasons... YET, their healthcare is the SAME (government funded) "socialist" healthcare they don't want us to have.

-Why our dollar is worth HALF of what it was since 2000?

-Why inflation rates are the highest they have been in 17 years...

-Why NOBODY has fully investigated the "9/11" attacks (instead the FBI removed critical evidence and we do not know they whereabouts of it)

-Why we choose to invade countries that are no threats to us, then pick on their neighbors (because truthfully, that's who Bush was trying to get at) and then wonder why gas is $4 a gallon. Hmm, SOMEONE has to pay for the construction of all the things destroyed or damaged. Obviously, that is US.

-Why nobody in the executive office can be clear, honest, and forthcoming with truth... If you have to cite "executive privilege" every time you are subpoenaed then apparently you are scared of what you may be forced to admit.

-Why convicted criminals get pardoned and their records expunged at the adherence of ONE man (president)...

-Why the poverty rate in this country is hideous when compared to other industrialized economies

-Why, when the dollar is worth nothing when compared to the Euro, why those countries are far advanced socially, and why we can't even make friend with our once favored allies

-Why are there never objections from the right, when more money is needed to continue an unsuccessful, illegal, war, yet the objections heard when asked to better the American people's lives, their is fierce opposition?

I could go on and on and on, but you get the point. We the people, deserve ANSWERS, not poll numbers, satire, and political maneuvering. I want to know when they can quit their bickering of the non-essentials, and regain our leadership status in the world... Besides a country that seeks unilateralist objectives, answers to nobody, and wonders why we are the center of affliction.

Definitely the oil companies that supply our gas. It's getting increasingly harder (and it's already hard enough) to keep gas in my car. And with the way the economy is, I'm lucky to get a raise. But these days, you can get a "raise" and still make less or the same that you did before you got the raise! It's ridiculous! I'm seriously considering buying a motorized scooter and strapping my kid's car seat to the back of it!! That's one way to save on gas! It'd be really cold in the winter though!!
