In an ideal world, everyone has an opinion, and everyone's respected.
At Thursday night's Bedford County School Board meeting, the comment was made, "The negative (about a proposed magnet school) may be from the loud few."
Let's not get into grouping and stereotyping people. Show respect for everyone.
Listen. Always listen. No matter who's expressing the opinion. Then, if you're an elected (or appointed) official and you've thoroughly considered all sides of an issue, vote your conscience, even if one group of people is offended.
But don't ever start criticizing particular groups. Everyone has the right to be heard.
