How about a 'dump' day?Posted Saturday, May 2, 2009, at 1:10 PM
We've got a story coming in Sunday's Times-Gazette about how items left curbside for the annual city clean-up day were grabbed by passersby before garbage trucks arrived.
That made me wonder how a one-day-a-year citywide or countywide 'dump' day would work. Designate one of Shelbyville's large, empty parking lots for anything people think is worthless and just leave it for others to pick through.
The downsides would be that some would grab things and try to sell them at yard sales, plus the possibility that at day's end there would still be a pile of trash to haul away.
