A multi-party system?Posted Thursday, May 14, 2009, at 11:06 AM
It's wild watching moderate Republicans trying to gain ground within the party while conservative Republicans continue insinuating the nation's future is in jeopardy unless they're back in control.
Meanwhile, liberal Democrats' plans infuriate Republicans.
Seems like it has to be one extreme for another. Where are the moderates?
Well, moderates could be within a third party -- if such a thing could be formed in this two-party nation.
Other countries have more than two strong, relevant parties. It wouid take some changes in such things as the electoral college and Congress' majority/minority committee system, but change is often worth the effort
Mainstream America is too often outshouted by extremists ultimately out to force their own agenda on the world including those who may disagree, and whose main interest is their own political party. It's time for real Americans to be heard. A strong third party could get the job done.
