  • Remember, people just like these went in for gladiator fights,bear-baiting,dog fights and rooster fights before this.

They'd watch fish kill one another at their tables, put scorpions in tanks with spiders and made no distinction between having a hound pursue a fox or raccoon,a greyhound go after a rabbit or setting sighthounds after retarded children.

(That's not even counting cases where friendly dogs tracked escaped slaves or prisoners.)

It's one thing to pit one animal's survival instincts against another to protect oneself or to feed oneself and one's family.

It's another to cause creatures to suffer just to indulge cruelty and greed.

I hope every instance of such bloodsports can be found and halted.

I pray that the hapless hens and chicks were confiscated and given happy, healthy new environments.

(Oh,and I hope all the bad guys had their cocks removed, too.)

Then, the birds and the rest of us would have something to sing about.
