Want to spend time doing nothing? Just drive to Whitthorne Street and pull up to the light at Madison Street (next to the trophy store, facing the old Taco Bell.)
I've been the only vehicle stopped at that light several times over the past year or two, and each time I sat...and sat...and sat while the light cycled through green several times for the other three sides. I've sat there watching the glowing red light while there was no traffic nearby in any other direction.
I've even tried backing up and pulling back forward, just to see if the light's detector would trigger. No luck.
I'm not sure if vehicles are detected at that intersection by utility pole-mounted cameras or wires under the pavement. Whichever it is, apparently it doesn't detect my vehicle. And I'm not too far forward or back, but at the natural location one would stop.
Is anyone else having the same problem? I've also wondered if the light changes when more than one vehicle is backed up there.
Eventually I just turn right instead of waiting any longer to go straight.
Last night I decided to see how long it would go but got impatient after several minutes. Whatever the problem is, apparently no one's going anywhere fast there.
