College conference chaos

Posted Saturday, June 12, 2010, at 1:59 PM

College football's offseason has suddenly become interesting with money luring Nebraska to the Big 10 conference and more changes likely next week. It involves more than football, or course, but football programs are driving the decisions.

One of the possibilities is Texas A&M joining the SEC, even though A&M's also mentioned in Pac-10 "superconference" talks.

I'm beginning to wonder when a conference reaches the point of having too many teams.

Maybe the result of all the changes will be an opening for MTSU to jump to a larger conference. I'm not sure exactly where they'd fit, and I'm not running down the Sun Belt at all, but I'd just like to see MTSU somewhere that gets a little more national attention.

It's getting where there's as much action off the field or court as on. I guess that just spices things up a little.
