Mark those bumps, please

Posted Thursday, November 4, 2010, at 2:57 PM

It's always irritating when you hit something in the road large enough to knock your vehicle's wheels out of balance -- particularly if that something could be marked.

The now-reopened Fairfield Pike's intersection with the still-under-construction new bypass is one example. The bed of the new road is several inches below Fairfield Pike, and enough to possibly the wheel balance of vehicles with lower-profile tires.

Even when stopping at the new stop sign, the other side of that intersection seems high enough to me that it should be marked.

Deep gashes in roads are left behind too often following paving projects or under-pavement utility construction. A little thought can go a long way in such cases.

What I don't understand is that they paved the 2 strips, what was the big deal about paving the center section covering both lanes? There's been trucks on the already paved sections, what's the big deal about not paving the center strip?! It's very jolting even going over it slowly!

There have already been several wreck at this point over the years even before it bacame a dangerous intercetion.. Now the odds of a bad wreck are gona be much greater now and more serious..

NOT TO WORRY!

Wait until they have it all paved and finished in time to raise your taxes... and you will see them come back and dig up the new pavement to but in a new water line, gas line or sewer line if not a telephone cable or something so you will always have your pot holes to tend with.

It's like I said earlier, there will be all kinds of red lights on this new Bypass before it's all done and over with. Red Lights and Speed Traps. They have already started making money off site seeing travelers on 4 wheelers, lol.

Now they are preparing you for their new project... widening Main Street, now that they have started with their by passing of Main Street and Main Street Businesses.

Is the State going to pay for this widening? If so and it is possible, why hasn't Main Street been widened before now when we really needed it widened?

Sounds like just another ploy to raise taxes in the future or Bedford wants to start spending that new 2011 hiway budget *dollars.

On the lighter side, I watched the Jack Van Imp Ministry show last night (Saturday) and I have to admit, he is the first preacher (that I have heard) to say the rapture could come as early as Dec. 21, 2012.

This is the same date that the Mayan Calendar expires. Representing the end of the World or the beginning of a new civilization.

I guess Shelbyville will get the Bypass done in time for Christ to Bypass around Shelbyville when he returns.

Jack Van Impy surprised me. He studies his bible and remembers thousands of verses but doesn't seem to realize that Christ could never return as early as 2012!

Now Jack didn't say the rapture WOULD happen in 2012, but only that it could.

Either way, that is a Unique Lie! He knows better if he reads his bible.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$

* dollars are becoming worthless in America as well as around the world. The Government is forcing us to spend our dollars by raising the cost of living (inspite of what the Gov says), forcing US citizens to lose their homes, property and jobs. Congress is spending the money as if it grows on trees, just to deplete the US Currency. We will then be forced to accept a world currency -- a one world currency!

I agree, they need the big "Bump" sign, I went through there for the first time a cpl of nights ago and wow...it's a liability to the city, inevitably our tax dollars. They need to fix this, I see a teen sitting across there w/ no front end.

Well, I followed someone from out of state down Fairfield Pike from Cascade and it about drove me NUTS! He alternated between 35mph-60mph and plenty of braking...then we came to the stop sign. Not sure if he was finally in a hurry or not, but he sped over those bumps and it (sorry) gave me a laugh out loud moment. Jerk deserved it! I'm glad to see they're not in a hurry to "fix" it either!
