Weird weekend on the police beatPosted Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at 9:42 AM
You'll see names of everyone who's arrested for everything listed in the jail intake, but in the accompanying story we go with just the highlights, not the very minor items such as DUI or public intoxication arrests or shoplifting.
Last weekend was just plain strange on the minor things.
*A man arrested for DUI after running two stop signs near his home said he did so because he'd just gotten a tattoo and wanted to go home and sleep.
*"I get stupid when I drink, really stupid," a public intoxication suspect said.
He wasn't lying. The man was "pacing in front of the counter" in a fast-food restaurant at 6 a.m Saturday, loudly cursing, the police report said. He loudly demanded to be taken to jail while trying to fight off three officers. So, to jail he went.
*Whoever broke into a paint store Friday night was kind enough to leave behind a bag of Bugles chips.
*And a young man got his feelings hurt because another man said he wasn't afraid of him, so Mr. Hurt tracked down his foe, hit him in the head and knocked him to the ground.
