Picturing the Past 159: 1957 senior tripPosted Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at 3:55 PM
Shelbyville Central High's class of 1957 leaving for a trip to Washington. (Submitted photo)
Here's the class of '57 preparing to load the bus and take off for Washington, D.C. Many of you probably recognize a lot of these people. Go here for a larger view. This was contributed a year or two ago, and I'm not sure who brought it in. Looks like this was shot in the parking lot behind the school next to the old auditorium. Picturing the Past is featured each Tuesday in this blog. Reader contributions are welcome. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Yes David I recognize all of them. They were the ones I spent the first 12 years of my educational life with. If I had been more diligent in my studies I would have been on that trip. However, it was one year later in 1958 when I went on my Senior Trip to Washington, DC. Thanks for a great picture that I had never seen before.
I was only one yr old at the time. It is sad to see how the level of self respect and appearance has deteriorated in the way kids dress themselves at school and in public in 2012 as compared to 55 years ago. I guess you can be just as smart and maybe just as successful, but you can only make one first impression.
