Picturing the Past 177: DQ in 1978Posted Thursday, January 31, 2013, at 2:48 PM
Dairy Queen, and some of its employees, in March 1978. (T-G file photo)
This is Dairy Queen, at it appeared in March 1978, and some of their staff members. They're in the same building today but it definitely doesn't look the same. It's another of several photos originally made for T-G restaurant review ads. Seems like you can watch the growth of Shelbyville by the locations of its fast food outlets. They sprung up in the 1950s through 1970s on Madison Street, then in the past few years the action's been on North Main. Back in the 1970s, when North Main was mainly lined with just houses past the Edgemont area, I would have never guessed it would be saturated with businesses out past Robinson Addition today. I wish that someone would post the names of the employees.
I only recognize Earnest and Mary Shelton
decorate1956. Thanks. I thought that was Mary Walker Shelton, and I just wasn't sure.
I'm not sure about anyone but the young dark headed girl in the middle is Sandy Sons Pendergrass.
