Picturing the Past 188: Muscle cars in the showroom

These are cars. Serious cars.
It's 1968 and the old Cannon Chevrolet has just moved to their new Lane Parkway building (today's Southern Energy building).
On the showroom floor for their grand opening are three dream muscle cars: two Chevelle SS396s and a Camaro Z/28 (I've got another photo showing the Camaro close-up. It is a Z/28).
Go here for a larger view.
Wonder if any of these cars are still around? If so, and if they're in decent shape, they're true collector cars.
The SS396 on the left has a bench front seat and column shift -- not exactly what you'd expect from a muscle car. That is, unless this one was relatively stripped down in an attempt to reach the new for 1968, much cheaper Plymouth Road Runner's price point.
The one on the right has hubcaps instead of chrome/alloy wheels like most restored muscle cars have today. I'd guess whoever bought that car quickly swapped them for the then-popular mag wheels.
Cool cars. I'd be glad to have just one of them today.
