Has anyone else noticed that traffic seems to be moving more smoothly on the Shelbyville square since the worn-out traffic light on the southeast corner was changed to continuous yellow flashes on two sides?
Drivers pulling onto the square from Depot Street and to Depot or South Main Street from the square's south side no longer have to stop.
I'm across the square several times a day and things appear smoother to me.
Now if something can just be done about out-of-towners driving around the wrong way. I've see more people going "backwards" in the past month than in years - and a few people eastbound on Depot at the bypass who think the left (westbound) lane is a turn lane. Of course, they totally block the road.
I suspect the faded, left-over markings from previous, one-way and two-way versions of Depot traffic flow just off the square are confusing visitors. And the one-way status of the square isn't all that clearly marked.
