Vanderbilt Advances to SEC Semi-FinalsPosted Friday, May 22, 2009, at 9:53 PM

Once again our home town hero Jonathan White played an integral role in the win when he walked with the bases loaded in the top of the ninth to drive in the winning run. Johnnie was down 0-2 in the count, waited out three pitches out of the strike zone by Gamecock reliever Michael Roth to run the count to 3-2. He then fought off three tough pitches before watching the ninth pitch of the at-bat sail high. Johnnie's three-hit game is the most he has recorded in an SEC Tournament game in his career. He is now 5-for-8 with two runs scored, a double, and two walks in the tournament. He has hit safely in six consecutive games. The nation is watching via CSS TV and major league scouts in attendance at the tournament can't help but be taking notice of White's exploits in the clutch. He has been written up in the College Baseball Insider and Brandon Barca, Vanderbilt's terrific writer has written a very nice piece this week on the VU website. I have attached the link for your perusal. Stay tuned. More to come from Hoover! Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |
