Good to be HomePosted Monday, November 30, 2009, at 9:10 PM
J. White is offering one on one instruction for local youth.
I have gotten to talk with him a few times and he took some time to meet my 14-year old daughter Lillie and I at the gym one day to teach her a workout routine to help her gain strength and perhaps more importantly, become more agile, as she grows into her nearly 5'10 frame that never seems to be satisfied hunger wise. (My seemingly always empty cabinets will attest to that). He was even willing to teach her how to hit until she decided to forego softball to concentrate on soccer full time. (I have very mixed feelings on that but have nothing but respect for a very mature decision on her part). Johnnie was very successful in his first season as he hit .287, had a .738 OPS, hit two homeruns, legged out two triples and three doubles, and stole four bases in five attempts. He will return to Arizona in January or early February to resume his professional career. In the meantime, he is working hard every day to stay in shape and is hanging out with friends and family after basically a five-year hiatus from Shelbyville. I came across this flyer and thought I would post it for parents that may be interested in getting some expert hitting instruction from as fine a young man as I have ever had the privilege of calling friend. Johnnie can be reached at (931) 205-4053. |
