Alistair Sim
My favorite Scrooge is Alistair Sim, although my overall favorite version of "A Christmas Carol" is the 1984 TV movie starring George C. Scott. He's good, although less of an ectomorph than one expects of Scrooge, and everything else about the TV movie is spot on: David Warner as Bob Cratchit, Roger Rees as Fred, Edward Woodward as the Ghost of Christmas Present and on and on. Mary likes Albert Finney in the 1970 musical "Scrooge." We both have a fondness for 1992's "The Muppet Christmas Carol," with Michael Caine as Scrooge and Kermit as Bob Cratchit. What about you? Who's your favorite Ebenezer Scrooge? Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Yes, I love Albert Finney as Scrooge, but Kermit the Frog ROCKS as Bob Cratchitt!
I interviewed Charles Dickens' great-great-great grandson about 10 years ago and he said the Muppet Christmas Carol was his favorite interpretation.
"Light the lamp, not the rat!"
I LOVE the Muppet Christamas Carol!! It's not Christmas without it.
I can't resist anything with Michael Caine - so my vote is for him.
I loved Bill Murray as scrooge in the movie "scrooged". It is one of the funniest christmas movies ever!
