We lost a great man today. Don't ever let anyone tell you that one person can't make a difference.

I once had the opportunity to hear Millard Fuller speak about his works. He had gone to law school with John Bookout, who was president of Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society at the time. Woodmen has helped build many Habitat Houses over the years. I don't remember what meeting I was attending, but Millard Fuller was quite modest. I really didn't know the circumstances that had led to his removal from Habitat.
I didn't get into the scandal because I didn't really have anything to say about it one way or the other. In any case, I think it's OK at a time like this to admire what he accomplished -- which is pretty incredible -- without necessarily criticizing or condoning unrelated matters.
I think he was a pretty darn awesome man.
Everyone makes mistakes and those can be misinterpreted.
