I was saddened yesterday to hear about the death of Wayne Kindness, who served for a while as our newsroom clerk here at the Times-Gazette. Wayne's job was here in the newsroom, processing submitted photos and news content, and so he had a low profile in the community. But he was a delight to work with. He had a positive attitude, a calm, steady presence, and was always willing to help.
Wayne was a huge racing fan and covered racing professionally during his career.
The obit says he served in Korea, but lists his age as 69 (which seems about right), making that pretty much impossible. We think it may have meant to say that he served in Vietnam, although I don't have any direct knowledge of this. I don't recall talking to him about it.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family.
