This is all the proof that I need to let me know that this country was based on freedom of religion ,freedom to worship Jesus Christ any way we want to ! enjoy.
Founding Fathers Quotes "The country's first two presidents, George Washington and John Adams, were firm believers in the importance of religion for republican government." --official Library of Congress statement "...both the legislators and the public considered it appropriate for the national government to promote a nondenominational, nonpolemical Christianity."--official Library of Congress statement _ Early Years The First Charter of Virginia (granted by King James I, on April 10, 1606) * We, greatly commending, and graciously accepting of, their Desires for the Furtherance of so noble a Work, which may, by the Providence of Almighty God, hereafter tend to the Glory of his Divine Majesty, in propagating of Christian Religion to such People, as yet live in Darkness and miserable Ignorance of the true Knowledge and Worship of God… Instructions for the Virginia Colony (1606) Lastly and chiefly the way to prosper and achieve good success is to make yourselves all of one mind for the good of your country and your own, and to serve and fear God the Giver of all Goodness, for every plantation which our Heavenly Father hath not planted shall be rooted out. William Bradford * wrote that they [the Pilgrims] were seeking: * 1) "a better, and easier place of living"; and that "the children of the group were being drawn away by evil examples into extravagance and dangerous courses [in Holland]" * 2) "The great hope, and for the propagating and advancing the gospel of the kingdom of Christ in those remote parts of the world" The Mayflower Compact (authored by William Bradford) 1620 "Having undertaken, for the glory of God, and advancement of the Christian faith, and honor of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia, do by these presents solemnly and mutually, in the presence of God, and one of another, covenant and combine our selves together…" _ John Adams and John Hancock: We Recognize No Sovereign but God, and no King but Jesus! [April 18, 1775] John Adams: " The general principles upon which the Fathers achieved independence were the general principals of Christianity… I will avow that I believed and now believe that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God." * "[July 4th] ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty." --John Adams in a letter written to Abigail on the day the Declaration was approved by Congress "We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." --October 11, 1798 "I have examined all religions, as well as my narrow sphere, my straightened means, and my busy life, would allow; and the result is that the Bible is the best Book in the world. It contains more philosophy than all the libraries I have seen." December 25, 1813 letter to Thomas Jefferson "Without Religion this World would be Something not fit to be mentioned in polite Company, I mean Hell." [John Adams to Thomas Jefferson, April 19, 1817] | " He who made all men hath made the truths necessary to human happiness obvious to all… Our forefathers opened the Bible to all." [ "American Independence," August 1, 1776. Speech delivered at the State House in Philadelphia] " Let divines and philosophers, statesmen and patriots, unite their endeavors to renovate the age by impressing the minds of men with the importance of educating their little boys and girls, inculcating in the minds of youth the fear and love of the Deity… and leading them in the study and practice of the exalted virtues of the Christian system." [October 4, 1790] John Quincy Adams: * "Why is it that, next to the birthday of the Savior of the world, your most joyous and most venerated festival returns on this day [the Fourth of July]?" "Is it not that, in the chain of human events, the birthday of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birthday of the Savior? That it forms a leading event in the progress of the Gospel dispensation? Is it not that the Declaration of Independence first organized the social compact on the foundation of the Redeemer's mission upon earth? That it laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity"? --1837, at the age of 69, when he delivered a Fourth of July speech at Newburyport, Massachusetts. "The Law given from Sinai [The Ten Commandments] was a civil and municipal as well as a moral and religious code." John Quincy Adams. Letters to his son. p. 61 Elias Boudinot: | Portrait of Elias Boudinot " Be religiously careful in our choice of all public officers . . . and judge of the tree by its fruits." Charles Carroll - signer of the Declaration of Independence | Portrait of Charles Carroll " Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality is so sublime and pure...are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments." [Source: To James McHenry on November 4, 1800.] Benjamin Franklin: " God governs in the affairs of man. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured in the Sacred Writings that except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it. I firmly believe this. I also believe that, without His concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel" --Constitutional Convention of 1787 "In the beginning of the contest with Britain, when we were sensible of danger, we had daily prayers in this room for Divine protection. Our prayers, Sir, were heard, and they were graciously answered… do we imagine we no longer need His assistance?" [Constitutional Convention, Thursday June 28, 1787] In Benjamin Franklin's 1749 plan of education for public schools in Pennsylvania, he insisted that schools teach "the excellency of the Christian religion above all others, ancient or modern." In 1787 when Franklin helped found Benjamin Franklin University, it was dedicated as "a nursery of religion and learning, built on Christ, the Cornerstone." Alexander Hamilton: * Hamilton began work with the Rev. James Bayard to form the Christian Constitutional Society to help spread over the world the two things which Hamilton said made America great: (1) Christianity (2) a Constitution formed under Christianity. "The Christian Constitutional Society, its object is first: The support of the Christian religion. Second: The support of the United States." On July 12, 1804 at his death, Hamilton said, "I have a tender reliance on the mercy of the Almighty, through the merits of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am a sinner. I look to Him for mercy; pray for me." "For my own part, I sincerely esteem it [the Constitution] a system which without the finger of God, never could have been suggested and agreed upon by such a diversity of interests." [1787 after the Constitutional Convention] "I have carefully examined the evidences of the Christian religion, and if I was sitting as a juror upon its authenticity I would unhesitatingly give my verdict in its favor. I can prove its truth as clearly as any proposition ever submitted to the mind of man." John Hancock: * "In circumstances as dark as these, it becomes us, as Men and Christians, to reflect that whilst every prudent measure should be taken to ward off the impending judgments, …at the same time all confidence must be withheld from the means we use; and reposed only on that God rules in the armies of Heaven, and without His whole blessing, the best human counsels are but foolishness… Resolved; …Thursday the 11th of May…to humble themselves before God under the heavy judgments felt and feared, to confess the sins that have deserved them, to implore the Forgiveness of all our transgressions, and a spirit of repentance and reformation …and a Blessing on the … Union of the American Colonies in Defense of their Rights [for which hitherto we desire to thank Almighty God]…That the people of Great Britain and their rulers may have their eyes opened to discern the things that shall make for the peace of the nation…for the redress of America's many grievances, the restoration of all her invaded liberties, and their security to the latest generations. "A Day of Fasting, Humiliation and Prayer, with a total abstinence from labor and recreation. Proclamation on April 15, 1775" Patrick Henry: "Orator of the Revolution." * This is all the inheritance I can give my dear family. The religion of Christ can give them one which will make them rich indeed." --The Last Will and Testament of Patrick Henry "It cannot be emphasized too clearly and too often that this nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religion, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason, peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here." [May 1765 Speech to the House of Burgesses] "The Bible is worth all other books which have ever been printed." John Jay: " Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers." Source: October 12, 1816. The Correspondence and Public Papers of John Jay, Henry P. Johnston, ed., (New York: Burt Franklin, 1970), Vol. IV, p. 393. "Whether our religion permits Christians to vote for infidel rulers is a question which merits more consideration than it seems yet to have generally received either from the clergy or the laity. It appears to me that what the prophet said to Jehoshaphat about his attachment to Ahab ["Shouldest thou help the ungodly and love them that hate the Lord?" 2 Chronicles 19:2] affords a salutary lesson." [The Correspondence and Public Papers of John Jay, 1794-1826, Henry P. Johnston, editor (New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1893), Vol. IV, p.365] Thomas Jefferson: " The doctrines of Jesus are simple, and tend to all the happiness of man." "Of all the systems of morality, ancient or modern which have come under my observation, none appears to me so pure as that of Jesus." "I am a real Christian, that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus." "God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift from God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, and that His justice cannot sleep forever." (excerpts are inscribed on the walls of the Jefferson Memorial in the nations capital) [Source: Merrill . D. Peterson, ed., Jefferson Writings, (New York: Literary Classics of the United States, Inc., 1984), Vol. IV, p. 289. From Jefferson's Notes on the State of Virginia, Query XVIII, 1781.] Samuel Johnston: * "It is apprehended that Jews, Mahometans (Muslims), pagans, etc., may be elected to high offices under the government of the United States. Those who are Mahometans, or any others who are not professors of the Christian religion, can never be elected to the office of President or other high office, [unless] first the people of America lay aside the Christian religion altogether, it may happen. Should this unfortunately take place, the people will choose such men as think as they do themselves. [Elliot's Debates, Vol. IV, pp 198-199, Governor Samuel Johnston, July 30, 1788 at the North Carolina Ratifying Convention] James Madison " We've staked our future on our ability to follow the Ten Commandments with all of our heart." "We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We've staked the future of all our political institutions upon our capacity…to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God." [1778 to the General Assembly of the State of Virginia] * I have sometimes thought there could not be a stronger testimony in favor of religion or against temporal enjoyments, even the most rational and manly, than for men who occupy the most honorable and gainful departments and [who] are rising in reputation and wealth, publicly to declare the unsatisfactoriness [of temporal enjoyments] by becoming fervent advocates in the cause of Christ; and I wish you may give in your evidence in this way. Letter by Madison to William Bradford (September 25, 1773) * In 1812, President Madison signed a federal bill which economically aided the Bible Society of Philadelphia in its goal of the mass distribution of the Bible. " An Act for the relief of the Bible Society of Philadelphia" Approved February 2, 1813 by Congress "It is the mutual duty of all to practice Christian forbearance, love, and charity toward each other." * A watchful eye must be kept on ourselves lest, while we are building ideal monuments of renown and bliss here, we neglect to have our names enrolled in the Annals of Heaven. [Letter by Madison to William Bradford [urging him to make sure of his own salvation] November 9, 1772] At the Constitutional Convention of 1787, James Madison proposed the plan to divide the central government into three branches. He discovered this model of government from the Perfect Governor, as he read Isaiah 33:22; "For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; He will save us." [Baron Charles Montesquieu, wrote in 1748; "Nor is there liberty if the power of judging is not separated from legislative power and from executive power. If it [the power of judging] were joined to legislative power, the power over life and liberty of the citizens would be arbitrary, for the judge would be the legislature if it were joined to the executive power, the judge could have the force of an oppressor. All would be lost if the same … body of principal men … exercised these three powers." Madison claimed Isaiah 33:22 as the source of division of power in government See also: pp.241-242 in Teaching and Learning America's Christian History: The Principle approach by Rosalie Slater] James McHenry -- Signer of the Constitution Public utility pleads most forcibly for the general distribution of the Holy Scriptures. The doctrine they preach, the obligations they impose, the punishment they threaten, the rewards they promise, the stamp and image of divinity they bear, which produces a conviction of their truths, can alone secure to society, order and peace, and to our courts of justice and constitutions of government, purity, stability and usefulness. In vain, without the Bible, we increase penal laws and draw entrenchments around our institutions. Bibles are strong entrenchments. Where they abound, men cannot pursue wicked courses, and at the same time enjoy quiet conscience. Jedediah Morse: "To the kindly influence of Christianity we owe that degree of civil freedom, and political and social happiness which mankind now enjoys. . . . Whenever the pillars of Christianity shall be overthrown, our present republican forms of government, and all blessings which flow from them, must fall with them." John Peter Gabriel Muhlenberg In a sermon delivered to his Virginia congregation on Jan. 21, 1776, he preached from Ecclesiastes 3. Arriving at verse 8, which declares that there is a time of war and a time of peace, Muhlenberg noted that this surely was not the time of peace; this was the time of war. Concluding with a prayer, and while standing in full view of the congregation, he removed his clerical robes to reveal that beneath them he was wearing the uniform of an officer in the Continental army! He marched to the back of the church; ordered the drum to beat for recruits and over three hundred men joined him, becoming the Eighth Virginia Brigade. John Peter Muhlenberg finished the Revolution as a Major-General, having been at Valley Forge and having participated in the battles of Brandywine, Germantown, Monmouth, Stony point, and Yorktown. Thomas Paine: " It has been the error of the schools to teach astronomy, and all the other sciences, and subjects of natural philosophy, as accomplishments only; whereas they should be taught theologically, or with reference to the Being who is the author of them: for all the principles of science are of divine origin. Man cannot make, or invent, or contrive principles: he can only discover them; and he ought to look through the discovery to the Author." " The evil that has resulted from the error of the schools, in teaching natural philosophy as an accomplishment only, has been that of generating in the pupils a species of atheism. Instead of looking through the works of creation to the Creator himself, they stop short, and employ the knowledge they acquire to create doubts of his existence. They labour with studied ingenuity to ascribe every thing they behold to innate properties of matter, and jump over all the rest by saying, that matter is eternal." "The Existence of God--1810" Benjamin Rush: * "I lament that we waste so much time and money in punishing crimes and take so little pains to prevent them…we neglect the only means of establishing and perpetuating our republican forms of government; that is, the universal education of our youth in the principles of Christianity by means of the Bible; for this Divine Book, above all others, constitutes the soul of republicanism." "By withholding the knowledge of [the Scriptures] from children, we deprive ourselves of the best means of awakening moral sensibility in their minds." [Letter written (1790's) in Defense of the Bible in all schools in America] * "Christianity is the only true and perfect religion." * "If moral precepts alone could have reformed mankind, the mission of the Son of God into our world would have been unnecessary." "Let the children who are sent to those schools be taught to read and write and above all, let both sexes be carefully instructed in the principles and obligations of the Christian religion. This is the most essential part of education" Letters of Benjamin Rush, "To the citizens of Philadelphia: A Plan for Free Schools", March 28, 1787 Justice Joseph Story: " I verily believe Christianity necessary to the support of civil society. One of the beautiful boasts of our municipal jurisprudence is that Christianity is a part of the Common Law. . . There never has been a period in which the Common Law did not recognize Christianity as lying its foundations." [Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States p. 593] " Infidels and pagans were banished from the halls of justice as unworthy of credit." [Life and letters of Joseph Story, Vol. II 1851, pp. 8-9.] " At the time of the adoption of the constitution, and of the amendment to it, now under consideration [i.e., the First Amendment], the general, if not the universal sentiment in America was, that Christianity ought to receive encouragement from the state, so far as was not incompatible with the private rights of conscience, and the freedom of religious worship." [Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States p. 593] Noah Webster: " The duties of men are summarily comprised in the Ten Commandments, consisting of two tables; one comprehending the duties which we owe immediately to God-the other, the duties we owe to our fellow men." "In my view, the Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government ought to be instructed...No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people." [Source: 1828, in the preface to his American Dictionary of the English Language] Let it be impressed on your mind that God commands you to choose for rulers just men who will rule in the fear of God [Exodus 18:21]. . . . If the citizens neglect their duty and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted . . . If our government fails to secure public prosperity and happiness, it must be because the citizens neglect the Divine commands, and elect bad men to make and administer the laws. [Noah Webster, The History of the United States (New Haven: Durrie and Peck, 1832), pp. 336-337, 49] "All the miseries and evils which men suffer from vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery and war, proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible." [Noah Webster. History. p. 339] "The Bible was America's basic textbook in all fields." [Noah Webster. Our Christian Heritage p.5] "Education is useless without the Bible" [Noah Webster. Our Christian Heritage p.5 ] George Washington: Farewell Address: The name of American, which belongs to you, in your national capacity, must always exalt the just pride of Patriotism, more than any appellation derived from local discriminations. With slight shades of difference, you have the same religion" ...and later: "...reason and experience both forbid us to expect, that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle..." " It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and Bible." "What students would learn in American schools above all is the religion of Jesus Christ." [speech to the Delaware Indian Chiefs May 12, 1779] "To the distinguished character of patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian" [May 2, 1778, at Valley Forge] During his inauguration, Washington took the oath as prescribed by the Constitution but added several religious components to that official ceremony. Before taking his oath of office, he summoned a Bible on which to take the oath, added the words "So help me God!" to the end of the oath, then leaned over and kissed the Bible. Nelly Custis-Lewis (Washington's adopted daughter): Is it necessary that any one should [ask], "Did General Washington avow himself to be a believer in Christianity?" As well may we question his patriotism, his heroic devotion to his country. His mottos were, "Deeds, not Words"; and, "For God and my Country." " O Most Glorious God, in Jesus Christ, my merciful and loving Father; I acknowledge and confess my guilt in the weak and imperfect performance of the duties of this day. I have called on Thee for pardon and forgiveness of my sins, but so coldly and carelessly that my prayers are become my sin, and they stand in need of pardon." " I have sinned against heaven and before Thee in thought, word, and deed. I have contemned Thy majesty and holy laws. I have likewise sinned by omitting what I ought to have done and committing what I ought not. I have rebelled against the light, despising Thy mercies and judgment, and broken my vows and promise. I have neglected the better things. My iniquities are multiplied and my sins are very great. I confess them, O Lord, with shame and sorrow, detestation and loathing and desire to be vile in my own eyes as I have rendered myself vile in Thine. I humbly beseech Thee to be merciful to me in the free pardon of my sins for the sake of Thy dear Son and only Savior Jesus Christ who came to call not the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Thou gavest Thy Son to die for me." [George Washington; from a 24 page authentic handwritten manuscript book dated April 21-23, 1752 William J. Johnson George Washington, the Christian (New York: The Abingdon Press, New York & Cincinnati, 1919), pp. 24-35.] "Although guided by our excellent Constitution in the discharge of official duties, and actuated, through the whole course of my public life, solely by a wish to promote the best interests of our country; yet, without the beneficial interposition of the Supreme Ruler of the Universe, we could not have reached the distinguished situation which we have attained with such unprecedented rapidity. To HIM, therefore, should we bow with gratitude and reverence, and endeavor to merit a continuance of HIS special favors". [1797 letter to John Adams] James Wilson: Signer of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution Supreme Court Justice appointed by George Washington Spoke 168 times during the Constitutional Convention "Christianity is part of the common law" [Sources: James Wilson, Course of Lectures [vol 3, p.122]; and quoted in Updegraph v. The Commonwealth, 11 Serg, & R. 393, 403 (1824).] _ Public Institutions Liberty Bell Inscription: " Proclaim liberty throughout the land and to all the inhabitants thereof" [Leviticus 25:10] Proposals for the seal of the United States of America * "Moses lifting his wand and dividing the Red Sea" --Ben Franklin * "The children of Israel in the wilderness, led by a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night." --Thomas Jefferson On July 4, 1776, Congress appointed Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams "to bring in a device for a seal for the United States of America." Franklin's proposal adapted the biblical story of the parting of the Red Sea. Jefferson first recommended the "Children of Israel in the Wilderness, led by a Cloud by Day, and a Pillar of Fire by night. . . ." He then embraced Franklin's proposal and rewrote it Jefferson's revision of Franklin's proposal was presented by the committee to Congress on August 20, 1776. Another popular proposal to the Great Seal of the United States was: " Rebellion to Tyrants is Obedience to God"; with Pharoah's army drowning in the Red Sea The three branches of the U.S. Government: Judicial, Legislative, Executive * At the Constitutional Convention of 1787, James Madison proposed the plan to divide the central government into three branches. He discovered this model of government from the Perfect Governor, as he read Isaiah 33:22; "For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; He will save us." Article 22 of the constitution of Delaware (1776) Required all officers, besides taking an oath of allegiance, to make and subscribe to the following declaration: * "I, [name], do profess faith in God the Father, and in Jesus Christ His only Son, and in the Holy Ghost, one God, blessed for evermore; and I do acknowledge the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be given by divine inspiration." New York Spectator. August 23, 1831 " The court of common pleas of Chester county, [New York] rejected a witness who declared his disbelief in the existence of God. The presiding judge remarked that he had not before been aware that there was a man living who did not believe in the existence of God; that this belief constituted the sanction of all testimony in a court of justice: and that he knew of no cause in a Christian country where a witness had been permitted to testify without such belief. Michael I admire you for standing up for what you believe in but I do not think anyone has tried to tell you not to believe in Jesus Christ or not to have Faith. There is a difference in having Faith and Having what is called "Blind Faith" Blind Faith is defined as Believing that Faith is the answer to all problems.
Most of us here only want religion and a person's way of life to be their own choice, without persecution, afterall isn't that one of the things America was founded on also Freedom of choice? As long as another person's choices does not interfere with your life, then it is their choice to be whatever they choose to be..whether it be Gay, straight, Bi or whatever else you may want to call them. Having a homosexual neighbor does not make you any more homosexual than having a Hispanic neighbor would make you Hispanic.
I myself am not gay nor do I plan on changing my sexual preferences anytime in the near future but I have friends who are homosexual and believe it or not they believe in the same Jesus Christ you and I do. I do not plan on getting an abortion anytime in the near future either nor have I ever had one but if I were to choose an abortion it should be my choice, not yours or our government.
I hope you understand the reason for my comment here No one is trying to turn you into a homosexual, all they want is compassion for the people they are..not what you think they should be.
Couldn't have said it better!!!!
BRAVO TO YOU DIANATN.....AMEN...YOU AMAZE ME!!!
My name says it all.. Michael needs to quit relying on faith alone to answer all his questions... God gave Jesus plenty of faith, but he also gave him the ability to LOVE, have COMPASSION, and MERCY... as well as the actions to not only PROVE his faith, but improve it!
Compassion and Acceptance of others is something this world needs to work on. People need to focus on their own lives before trying to "help" others (if that's what you want to call it!) Everyone's entitled to their own opinion.......but, DANG......don't try to force it on others!!!!! So, many people are out there screwing up their own lives......but, instead of realizing that & doing something about it, they would rather tell other people how they should be, how they should feel, think, act..........
FREAKIN RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!
Hmmmmmmmmm....interesting that none of those quotes came from God or Jesus...they can only be attributed to man..interesting indeed for someone who quotes the bible on a minute by minute basis.
Micheal Bell....keep it coming...it is so hard to stand up for what you believe in these days and you should be commended for speaking your thoughts. I find it VERY funny that some say you are trying to change peoples opinion and then they don't even see that they are the ones trying SO HARD to change your mind...interesting....
mom2boys
All we asked was for compassion something Christians should have without anyone having to ask for it.
Listen people...I know Michael personally...And You have to understand that his opinions aren't really "his opinions"
Because, He is only expressing EXACTLY how the bible speaks against these things. If you ask him anything at all, He'll most certainly tell you that his opinion is the same as GODS..
And Christians do have compassion for others who struggle, thats what Christianity is founded on,
But even if a Christian loves you very dearly and excepts you no matter what then thats great!, even so..Im sorry..but your sin WILL NOT enter the kingdom of Heaven. So quit working towards having others accept you and start worrying about if GOD excepts you.....only through the cleansing blood of Jesus can you enter Heaven...Michael keep rockin the word of GOD buddy!
-And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of GOD by faith...- Philippians 3, 9-

"Listen people...I know Michael personally...And You have to understand that his opinions aren't really "his opinions"
- so is he brainwashed?
"Because, He is only expressing EXACTLY how the bible speaks against these things. If you ask him anything at all, He'll most certainly tell you that his opinion is the same as GODS.."
-so 7 or 8 verses out a million or so which DIDN'T EVEN DEAL with these "issues" really mean something to you... we didn't deny the bible doesn't speak of it, but we also pointed out the other contradictions, that you yourself would not partake in... such as selling your children into slavery, having your child stoned in the city streets b/c they backtalked you (there would be a bunch of dead children, and THAT is NO WORSE than abortion... now is it, don't skip the other million plus verses while your preach the lonely 7 that deal with the "issue"... if you read the other blogs people pointed specifics out surrounding homosexuality. Such as the word NOT EVEN EXISTING in the "English" bible until 1958. (God didn't put that in there, some HUMAN DID!!!)
"And Christians do have compassion for others who struggle, thats what Christianity is founded on"
- Explain the bloody wars that involved compassion..
"Im sorry..but your sin WILL NOT enter the kingdom of Heaven"
- As far as I know, NO sin enters heaven...
"Michael keep rockin the word of GOD buddy!" Opinion, is not the word of god
~He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone~
It is wonderful that this gentleman has something which gives him comfort and a feeling of security. If it makes him happy, that is beautiful and if he learns to be a more loving and compassionate person, because of his beliefs... all the better.
Faith is something that so many are quick to jump upon and either support or condemn. Mainly faith in Christianity, but there are far more faiths than that. There are those who are of the Islamic faith, there are those of us who are of the Pagan faiths, there are even Satanists out there who, while we don't always agree with them, they still have their own faiths which they hold important to them.
Faith is belief. It is whatever you hold close to your heart and truly believe will happen, good or bad. Is it wrong? No ~ we all need something to believe in. Faith is a good thing. A wonderful thing. Faith is a beautiful thing.
I have faith, when I wake in the morning, that I will hear my children laugh. I have faith that I will find a reason to smile every day. I have faith that when I step outside of my door, I will find many incredible reasons to give thanks and to be happy for this life that I have.
Faith is only wrong when faith is misguided, when one becomes a zealot and tries to force another to change their own faith. There is nothing wrong with debating and discussing in a positive manner. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing. It only becomes wrong when you impose upon another "You MUST believe in THIS!"
Hmmm...Are you saying that the bible contradicts itself?...thats Interesting.
So I assume that you agree on Abortion?
I must say someone getting stoned in the streets is MUCH different than being aborted. And plus abortion has a little bit more tactic than stoning someone..Im not sure what your trying to say but...anyways.
Homosexuality not being in the bible? Well let me refresh your mind a bit
"A man shall not lay beside another man"
..Could that possibly be homosexuality? YES!
And the words Rapture and Trinity aren't in the bible either period..but many believe in those too.
I still can't understand why your tiptoeing around the fact that things like Being gay and having abortions are just morally wrong, Not to mention against GODS will..
WISE MEN CAN SEE THE DIFFERENCE IN COMPROMISE AND LAYING DOWN ONES BELIEFS.
Nailed-dead-Risen,
Cloudstrider
ok now do me a favor and read the verses before "a man shall not lie with another man..." and the verses after...
then don't pick and choose which ones you believe...
prove to me that the bible DOESN'T contradict itself...
Try these sites that will list the hundreds of contradictions...

i made the job alot easier for you!
I am not trying to force my beliefs on anyone. I am just putting the offer out there. Remember Jesus sais I am the only way
"A man shall not lay beside another man"
Where is this in the Bible I have yet to find it?
....I still can't understand why your tiptoeing around the fact that things like Being gay and having abortions are just morally wrong, Not to mention against GODS will..
Who are you to decide what is morally right or wrong and as far as it being against God's will show me where the Bible says that!
Being gay is not "natural" and abortion is no diffrent than murder ,I have seen the ultrasounds ,they show me a living breathing child of God in there. These are my morals from what I have read and been taught as a Christian.Ypu may have a diffrent set of morals I don't know.I don't expect you to conform to my thought or morals the same as I won't yours. At least my beliefs offer some sort of hope. That I can mess up according to "GOD'S LAW"and then repent and turn away which means to not come back to it.Listen if you or somebody you know is hay or has had a abortion ,iy is not the end of the world ,there is always forgivness from God.With forgivness comes a price and that price is to not mistake again.Ihave my beliefs and I will continue to stand on them.
I'm sorry but I have to stand up and speak the truth to those who choose not to believe or see it. Please do not think that I believe a certain way against homosexuals just because it is stated so in the bible. Because, I love all of mankind, even if they are homosexual.
The Third Book of Moses, Called
Leviticus
20
The Penalties for Acts of Immorality
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. Lev. 18.22
Homosexuality in the Bible
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. -- Leviticus 18:22
Genesis
"And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him."
What did Ham do? Did he just look at his naked father or was there something more to it than that? Some commentators have suggested that Ham committed homosexual rape on his drunken father, and that this was why Ham's descendants were eternally punished with slavery. 9:24
This verse doesn't say what the Sodomites did to make them such exceedingly great sinners, though most bible believers equate "Sodomite" with homosexual. (But see Ezekiel 16:49, which claims the sins of Sodom were pride, gluttony, sloth, greed, and failure to help the poor.) 13:13
The two angels that visit Lot wash their feet, eat, and are sexually irresistible to Sodomites. 19:1-5
God kills everyone in Sodom and Gomorrah. 19:4-5, 24-25
What did Sarah see? 21:9

Deuteronomy
Women are not to wear men's clothing -- it's an "abomination unto the Lord." 22:5
God says not be bring any whore, sodomite, or dog into the house of the Lord. For "these things are an abomination to the Lord." Sodomites and dogs are biblical names for homosexuals. 23:17-18
1 Samuel
"The soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul ... And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments ... and his girdle." 18:1-4
"Jonathan ... delighted much in David." 19:2
Saul is angered by his son's homosexual affair with David and says, "do not I know that thou has chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion of thy mother's nakedness?" 20:30
David and Jonathan "kissed one another, and wept with one another" when they parted for the last time. 20:41
2 Samuel
David says to Jonathan: "very pleasant has thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of woman." 1:26
1 Kings
God shows his homophobia by calling gay people "sodomites" and their sexual relations "abominations." 14:24
Asa "did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD" by expelling homosexuals (or "sodomites", as the good book calls them). 15:12
Jehoshaphat "did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord" and "took" the homosexuals (sodomites) "out of the land," or as the RSV says, "he exterminated" them. 22:43, 46
2 Kings
Josiah, with God's approval, broke down the houses of the sodomites. 23:7
Isaiah
"They declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul!"
The biblical god just doesn't seem to care much for homosexuals. And he gets especially upset when "they hide it not." 3:9
Daniel
"Neither shall he regard ... the desire of women"
The antichrist is gay!
(Or so says Rev. Dwight McKissic of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Texas, citing this verse as proof.) 11:37

With his usual intolerance, Paul condemns homosexuals (including lesbians). This is the only clear reference to lesbians in the Bible. 1:26-28
Homosexuals (those "without natural affection") and their supporters (those "that have pleasure in them") are "worthy of death." 1:31-32
1 Corinthians
Paul lists ten things that will keep you out of heaven, including homosexuality and being "effeminate." 6:9-10
1 Timothy
Homosexuals (those "that defile themselves with mankind") are included on the list of lawless, disobedient, unholy, and profane people. 1:10

Revelation
"The hundred and forty and four thousand ... which were not defiled with women"
Are the 144,000 men that are "not defiled by women" homosexuals? Are only gay men to be saved? 14:1-4
Again, here is the proof that so many need, that they search for in the bible. Like I've said before, although I don't believe in everything that the bible says, here is the proof and facts some need. I have friends and family members that are homosexual.
sorry for the couple of mispelled words was writing and typing at the same time
weezie84 we have already eldued to the fact that most of the scriptures you are citing, HAVE NO VALIDITY in TODAY'S WORLD!!!!!
To think of someone who supposedly so open minded, it is baffling that you will still consider those archaic jewish laws relevant...
I can find plenty of dispute with some of the selected scripture ESPECIALLY the
"Sodom and Gomorrah".. Please do everyone a favor and read the entire story of Sodom and Gomorrah and the scriptures prior to and after those you have chosen to point out... I, along with many have stated that homosexuality is MENTIONED in the bible...
Now do me a favor and look up the origin of the word homosexual.. There is no single greek or hebrew word, which is where YOUR Bible comes from has no translation of that word...
A preacher can quote scripture, as can I, and you.. But we have to read the ENTIRE story surrounding them, as well as THE TIME, THE PLACE, THE AUTHOR and whether or not they were given permission to write as they saw fit, or it was an actual message from god.
But Michael it also says:
And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
Leviticus 20:10
For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him.
20:9
So if we are going to take the Bible literally then a divorce is invalid and everyone who has divorced and remarried are to be put to death."Thats Adultery"
Children who disobey and curse their parents should be put to death.
And you think abortions are immoral??
I agree totally ,but we can be forgiven and made anew by the blood of Jesus ,but it is not a licens to keep doing it
Thats not what it says it says "the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death."
You see, this has been a long time problem I have with religion. I am quite sure I am considerably older than most of you in here and I was brought up in The Church of Christ we were drug to church every Sunday morning every Sunday night and every Wednesday without fail. When I was 19 I married a man who beat me for going to sleep and for waking up..he put me in the hospital on numerous occasions so the last time he beat me so bad he had broke by ribs my collar bone my left leg and my arm I decided this was enough. I was going to get a divorce the minster where I had gone to church since I was a baby came to me in the hospital and told me if I divorced him I would burn in hell. I told him I couldn't help but to divorce him if I didn't do something My Daddy was going to kill him and I didn't want my Daddy in prison.
But now in this same church there are many people who are divorced and are Deacons and Deacons wives ..I just find it funny that scripture changes meanings to suit your needs.
FOR MICHAELBELL
I think you are deluding yourself if you believe that hating homosexuals, or pretending that a couple cells in a pitri dish is a person, is going to get you into heaven. I think God is going to be much more interested in the hundreds of thousands of Innocent people being tortured and murdered in Iraq, and many other issues like unbridled greed, abandoning the poor, and religious hypocrisy. It is easy for you to hate your neighbor and be against some other woman's right to choose, but how much effort or sacrifice does that take? Being a Christian means choosing the more difficult path - loving your neighbor even if they're homosexuals, and paying enough in taxes to help a child out of poverty once it's born. You have not done that - you have not chosen the difficult way. You have chosen the wide and easy path...and you pretend it is the Christian path..
oh and one last thing to Mr. Bell...
I've always felt that a total absence of punctuation was either a sign of intellectual laziness or mental instability.
Amen
"A man shall not lay beside another man"
Where is this in the Bible I have yet to find it?
to dianatn, i was only responding to this question that you posted. and i found it in the bible. that was the only point that i was trying to make.
correct as you are, darr, we live by the new testament in today's world, but for someone to demand that a statement be proved as to where it is in the bible, i just proved that point.
I realize that you are just pointing out all these things but try reading the WHOLE book of Leviticus. And why is it that we only live by the New Testament, Now I may be wrong and correct me if I am but the last time I checked the Old Testament was in the bible too and you are quoting verses from the old testament so why say we don't live by it and then quote it to prove your point?
I read earlier that you don't believe that Jesus is the messiah but the lord, explain the rationale of how there can be a second coming if there hasn't been a first?
The reason I quoted those scriptures is because Dianatn needed some sort of proof that it does state in the bible that it isn't right for a man to lie next to another man. I did that, and now, it seems there are more questions you want from me. I already said that I don't know the bible as well as some, and I don't live my life according to what the bible says. Is it so hard for you to accept that I provided the proof that you were searching for? You are no different than the scientist who constantly push to believe that GOD didn't exist at all. Why are so many so quick to judge GOD..so quick to question him? Why is it that you search so hard for facts and proof when the bible cannot provide much evidence of existence at all? Back to faith, again, I say we just need to believe.
I never once said that I hated homosexuals or people who have abortion's hate what they do there is a difference best friends wife sister is a lesbian and she accepts my feelings toward it and we leave it at that cells in a petri dish may not be life ,but inside the womb it is life.
michaelbell...
If homosexuality (AND YES THEY ARE BORN GAY, DO SOME RESEARCH) is wrong and abortion is wrong, then would it be wrong to abort a gay baby?
Since your wife's sister is a lesbian what would you do if your daughter told you that she was born a lesbian too? Have you ever sat down and ask her if it was a concious choice to be gay or was she born that way....or do you even care?
If 100 people read the Bible there will be 100 explanations of the Bible. No one on this earth ever talked to God but it seems back in the days the Bible was being written he was talking to everybody. Ever wonder why that is? Do you know how many times the Bible has been written and rewritten..and just like gossip it changes to suit someone's needs. The Bible was written By a Man. It's sole purpose is to give us hope and faith teach us how to live with one another ..or the do's and don't's of life, you might say. The reminder of the Bible is just dressing or filler. Don't get me wrong I am by no means saying there isn't a God He just had little, if anything at all to do with the today's Bible. I do not believe in evolution I didn't come from a monkey or a fish and I don't believe we are some alien science experiment gone bad. Although I do hope for reincarnation :>)
That is my best friend's wife sister You can't prove to me that people are born that way.As far as my daughters ,they have been taught the bible from a early age and know what is right and wrong ,but if they choose that path judgment is on them. If they get pregnant out of wedlock or in marriage and have a abortion ,judgment is on them. All I can do is teach them what I think is right according to bible standards ,they have to choose the life they live for themselves the same as Cain and Esau and Judas who seen the miracles of Jesus and still turned his back. We all have a mind of our own ,but as long as my kids are under my roof they will be taught my way and no other.
Michael the cells in a petri dish are the same cells in the womb. If one is not life neither is the other.
is partial birth abortion ok then?
Prove that it is not natural and in the meantime I am compiling a list of studies that have proven differences in the brains of homosexuals and heterosexuals.
Don't tell me that the bible says it's not natural, because the bible also says that the world is flat and that the earth is the center of the universe and not the sun, and all that has been disproven by science or other humans have disproven.
I don't personally agree with partial birth abortions it has nothing to do with morals or religion though. I feel that if someone wants an abortion they have plenty of time to to this before the 1st trimester ends.
Do you find it strange that the word Christian is only mentioned in the Bible 3 times? Acts 11:26; 26:28; 1 Peter 4:16.
You would think that if Christianity is the chosen religion God would have talked more about it..
Hmm, VERY GOOD POINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Embryonic stem cells, as their name suggests, are derived from embryos. Specifically, embryonic stem cells are derived from embryos that develop from eggs that have been fertilized in vitro--in an in vitro fertilization clinic--and then donated for research purposes with informed consent of the donors. They are not derived from eggs fertilized in a woman's body. The embryos from which human embryonic stem cells are derived are typically four or five days old and are a hollow microscopic ball of cells called the blastocyst. The blastocyst includes three structures: the trophoblast, which is the layer of cells that surrounds the blastocyst; the blastocoel, which is the hollow cavity inside the blastocyst; and the inner cell mass, which is a group of approximately 30 cells at one end of the blastocoel.
The cells which scientist use to help those that are paralyzed, this is not killing of a human.
But someone who wants to think that it is okay to commit a murder as long as it is before the first trimester ends:
Here is some facts to back up the FACT that its still murder.
(From Pregnancy.org First Trimester)
Week Five
First heartbeats begin - If you have an early ultrasound you may not be able to recognize this tiny being as a baby, but there is no mistaking what it feels like seeing your child's heartbeat on that screen. That rhythmic beat is echoed in your own heart.
Umbilical cord develops - This is your baby's lifeline in utero. It bears the responsibility of pumping in oxygen, removing waste, and supplying the necessary nutrients for the remainder of your pregnancy.
Blood is now pumping - All four heart chambers are now functioning, insuring your baby's body will receive all it needs over not only the remainder of your pregnancy but throughout life.
Most other organs begin to develop - Your infant's lungs start to appear, along with her brain. Already your little one is preparing for a quest for lifelong learning!
Arm and leg buds appear - While they may not appear to be much at this stage it is ok to dream of the future. Just imagine your ballerina twirling and jumping around your kitchen floor. Or perhaps you will have the precocious boy that throws the perfect pitch -- right through the neighbor's window.
Just like many have picked apart and chosen what they think they should argue about in Micheal's Christian Heritage, I have picked apart the saddest of comments and provided the proof that you guys demand every single time.
That first paragraph is found on
http://stemcells.nih.gov/info/basics/
Do you find it strange that the word Christian is only mentioned in the Bible 3 times? Acts 11:26; 26:28; 1 Peter 4:16.
You would think that if Christianity is the chosen religion God would have talked more about it..
Hmm, Diana hun, since you and friends have already established that we don't live by the old testament anymore, why do you think that it is there is only three scriptures about christians? Try reading Acts 11:26, he called the disciples Christians. That was day one of Christians. All of these scriptures found in the new testament.
And most of the books in the bible are about men, who were around during the time of Jesus Christ and some who heard from GOD.
To diana-Moses spoke with GOD a couple of times as stated in the bible.
To nascarfanatic- No one is born gay.
Weezie I am not in any mood today to argue with you about abortions. But just think for one minute: Even our government controlled IRS doesn't see this fetus as a human until it comes from the womb and is living if you think they do just try adding your unborn child to your deductions on your taxes when you 1st get pregnant and see how fast they tell you it isn't a child until it is born.
You can believe anything that suits your needs..but I myself had rather see a child be aborted than some 14 or 15 year old have a child they can't take care of and toss it into a trash can at a gas station. Or a child born with birth defects and left unwanted and alone in foster homes.
There are thousands upon thousands of unwanted children in foster homes today that nobody wants so don't tell me they can always have the child that there are plenty of people waiting to adopt, that is a crock. Or better yet tell that to the thousand of children that have been sitting in foster homes waiting for a home of their our.
Just like people and our government to care more about the unborn fetus than they do the living breathing child.
Weezie84, prove that nobody is born gay. You have a baby on the way, do some research....
I'd hate to know you would deprive that child of a life with those kind of thoughts, and keep them in shame and secrecy. Read the thousands of suicide letters, that were written and acted out on because of people with thoughts like yours!
Prove that nobody is born gay? GOD created Eve for Adam, FOR ADAM. He did not create another ADAM for ADAM. NO one, not a single person on the face of this planet, can sit there and say that they were born gay. It's just not possible. A man and a woman make a baby, not two guys or two girls. My godfather is gay, I have cousins and friends who are gay. I don't hate them because of their sexual preference, and I don't despise it, but for any person to honestly say that they were born gay, NO, it's not possible. You become gay throughout the years of growing, it is a sexual preference. God created a man and a woman to reproduce.
Ok, then explain why he made straight people who are STERILE and CAN NOT produce offspring...
Is there sole pupose to reproduce? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
Diana I am in no mood to sit here and argue with you about what is right and what is wrong. You tried to say, "Michael the cells in a petri dish are the same cells in the womb. If one is not life neither is the other." I proved to you that it is not the same thing. How you can sit there and honestly be okay with partial abortion when it comes down to the circumstances of the parent themselves? HOW greedy and selfish can an individual be? A child has a fighting chance whether they are placed in foster homes and whether they have birth defects. The government has nothing to do with what you said, so please keep irrelavent factors out of our dispute. You said it was okay to have an abortion within the first trimester. Whenever judgement day comes, I hate to see the look of disappointment on your face, because you are wrong.
There is a sole purpose to reproduce, remember the Ark? Why do you think he had Noah take two by two, one male and one female? People throughout the years since the time of Jesus Christ and Adam and Eve, have become more prone to disease and health issues, some from the time that they are born. The reason for this, are the mistakes that we've made along the way since then, and factors such as drinking and doing harmful things while the body is creating a living, human inside of them. GOD did not start out making us sterile. Just as times have changed in the bible from the old testament to the new testament, same goes for the way a body works and reproduces in this day of time.
you proved nothing except YOUR OPINION.
Your story about the ark is completely misguided...
Hmm have you EVER WONDERED THEN, since diseases spread, that he using homosexuals to STOP THE GENETIC SPREAD OF DISEASE????
Think outside the box...
The bible is not a book about sexuality it is about God.
It doesn't take statements written down from text books and facts that you need to know, that the body has changed since the times of Jesus Christ. People back then lived past 100 years of age. How many people now a days live to see 100? It isn't my opinion, its just common sense, there isn't any need for "proven facts" that you think you need to back my statement up.
and an opinion is all she has Dianatn...
it's good to have an opinion, but a baseless one is unwise!
The story about Noah and the Ark is not misguided. He flooded the earth and had Noah take two of each animal to REPRODUCE>>>>So homosexuals are the cure to disease? I'm done arguing with stupidity.
Haha, EXACTLY and WHY did they live past 100 to POPULATE THE EARTH?!?!?!?!
Even my mom has FIVE BROTHERS....
With every generation the family size gets smaller, because God sees that his earth is full. OVERPOPULATED.
You like to think he works in mysterious ways. I think using homosexuals to STOP the spread of genetic disease and slow the rapid population is all a part of a greater plan that neither you nor I can prove!
So I am assuming you think Jonah was in the belly of a whale too right.
The only stupidity you'd be arguing with is your own.
No, I honestly do not believe he is using homosexuals to stop the spread of disease, I do however, believe that diseases such as AIDS and Cancer are the reason for the deaths of many humans, thus lowering the population.
That statement is the opitome of ignorance...
You are surely blinded and ALMOST said that AIDS is a gay disease, again... please research the largest group of individuals that are infected...
That would be STRAIGHT WOMEN!
I can't answer the question you asked about Jonah, because I haven't read much about him.
Well the story about Jonah is a STORY! Just like the STORY of the Ark.
So you only read the parts of the Bible you wish to? That Figures!
EXACTLY AGAIN!!!
No, I honestly do not believe he is using homosexuals to stop the spread of disease, I do however, believe that diseases such as AIDS and Cancer are the reason for the deaths of many humans, thus lowering the population.
Where does my statement say that homosexuals are the cause of AIDS? I'm sorry, but don't pick apart my statement to better suit your own.
You want to blame women for the cause of AIDS?
AIDS is an acronym for the disease called Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. More than 24 million people have lost their lives after falling prey to AIDS over last two decades (Please note that the number of deaths caused due to the disease might change). The disease has become most notorious of all the diseases and is spreading very fast among the people all over the world.
Although there are many stories/guesses of how and from where the disease originated? HIV virus is strongly believed to be originated from Africa around 1940. According to stored records, the first known patient of AIDS disease was from one of the states of Africa in 1959 whose blood was stored in order to find out the possible cause of his death. In tests carried out, the blood is confirmed to contain AIDS virus.
It is believed that the HIV virus inherits its properties from a virus SIV (Simian Immunodeficiency Virus), which is found in monkeys. The AIDS virus also has developed its own characteristics along with those which it inherits from SIV. The SIV virus has exactly same genetic structure as that of HIV and both the viruses are transmitted same way from one host to another. The SIV virus causes AIDS in monkeys and has exactly same effects on them but it does not show any such effect on humans, whereas HIV causes AIDS in humans but not in monkeys. There are again many interesting stories/guesses/hypothesis as how the HIV virus born from the SIV virus? And how SIV virus got mixed in the human blood?
The AIDS virus was first discovered around year 1980 in the United States. A group of young gay men and also some drug users; were getting ill often, and there was no trace of the disease that they were suffering from. Most of the diseases they were falling prey of were related to the immune system. As it was not known that how much time the disease takes to surface? And how the disease spreads? The virus of AIDS found new home for itself from one man to another in the same group and also those who came in sexual contact or used the same syringe which was used by infected person. After some months, people from the group began to die, the diseases which killed all those people, were some of the common diseases which affects human at much extent if they have a damaged immune system. The T cells, also known as CD4 cells which help human body in fighting with the diseases were found damaged and there level was lowered in the patients suffering from the mysterious disease. It was outbreak of the new disease and it was identified and named AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) in 1981. Doctors started research in order to find out the possible causes of the disease. First, it was not known whether AIDS was caused by viral infection or something else until two doctors Luc Montagnier and Robert Gallo found the virus causing AIDS. The virus was named Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
Further in 1985, a blood test was formulated which helped in identifying if a person was carrying HIV. Since 1985, this blood test is used effectively for diagnosing HIV infection. Some more tests were also found to help in diagnosing the virus and the disease using the saliva and urine.
During first few years of the detection of the new disease AIDS, all the possible reasons of spread of the disease were unknown. This helped the disease spread from one infected person to another. Back in the decade of 60's, there were very rare chances of a disease spreading across continents or countries. It was possible only when one person traveled from one country to another and carried the disease knowingly or unknowingly. The spread of AIDS is also said to be related with the same situation. It is said that when flight attendants used to fly across the seas, they had many sex partners in almost all the countries they visited. This helped AIDS spread from Africa and allowed it to enter in America.
After few years, all the possible reasons which helps AIDS virus to spread from one person to another were revealed, such as blood transfusion from an infected person to a healthy person, sexual intercourse between infected person and a healthy person, use of syringe etc. Right from the time of outbreak of the virus, it has infected over 50 million people and killed about half of the same till today (The number of people infected and killed due to AIDS might change, as there is a huge difference in official and unofficial data). But the right cure for the virus has not yet been discovered.

When I read the bible, it usually starts out with something I don't understand, and I look into it, using the bible. It started with the book of Matthew, which I have read that entire book, it is based on Love. Just because I haven't read the bible from cover to cover, word for word, does not mean that I WISH to read certain parts. Maybe you guys should stop putting words into others' mouths.
I didn't blame women either, so you picked apart my statement dear...
THE LARGEST GROUP INFECTED ARE STRAIGHT WOMEN, THAT DOES NOT IMPLY OR SAY THAT AIDS IS ONLY A WOMAN'S DISEASE!!!!
I didn't BLAME anyone, and i said you ALMOST said it was a gay disease and thus you have given me an article to try to prove that gay men were the first group in the United States with this disease...
Arguing with stupidity, again and again!
You are surely blinded and ALMOST said that AIDS is a gay disease, again... please research the largest group of individuals that are infected...
That would be STRAIGHT WOMEN!
The largest group that is infected with AIDS are those in Africa.
EXACTLY... And in Africa the largest group of those infected are STRAIGHT WOMEN, not gay men, not children, not lesbians..
Ok?
BACK TO the topic about Noah's ark and why god saved two of everything, read this!
http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/to...
Eluding to Noah..
So there you have it. If you want to be just, perfect, and righteous, kill lots of endangered species, get drunk, expose yourself to your children, and then curse your grandchildren because their parents saw you naked. I know it sounds a bit strange, but to God it is just, perfect, and righteous behavior.
Gotcha! people like you believe homosexuals are the cure to our diseases when in fact it was a bunch of gay men who introduced AIDS to the united states. you couldn't have been more clear.
Haha and you couldn't have been more clueless.... I said GENETIC DISEASES DEAR!!! GENETIC has NOTHING to do with AIDS
yes, genetics has to do with aids. you can still spread aids through genes.
Weezie, you and I are friends... And I am really surprised to see your responses on here...
I don't understand why you think you have to prove that gays are nothing but trouble. Almost makes me wonder why I told you to join this site! I love open minded, thoughtful discussion, but what I am reading is hatred, and blame... And you are not innocent.
I have done FOUR research papers on AIDS, I have read the entirety of the story of Noah, and I have also read the truth behind Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve...
If all those people died when Noah built the Ark, then what was the purpose of Adam and Eve? To populate the earth so that their entire lineage could be destroyed. From an objective point of view I just ask you to prove a few more things and read all of the stories before making accusations, as for these other people... I don't know them, like I thougt I knew you!
On top of that please use your entire brain for just one second....How on earth do you think it would be possible to put two of every animal on a boat even a very big boat.. How did Noah manage to keep the Lions from eating the other animals? or the people for that matter. Whales and Sharks are salt water animals did it rain salt water or was there salt water tanks on the ark for these animals to be able to live? Not to mention how were these animals feed much less where did they go to the bathroom at for 30 days and 30 nights?
Just be Realistic for once moment ? And don't give me the crap "All things are possible with God" because that is a cop-out for people who don't have the answers!
AIDS IS NOT GENETIC IT IS A VIRUS, WEEZIE YOU ARE REALLY BEGINNING TO MAKE ME QUESTION ALOT OF THINGS...
AIDS IS SPREAD THROUGH SEXUAL CONTACT AND FLUIDS SUCH AS BLOOD, NOT THROUGH YOUR FATHERS OR MOTHER'S GENES!
HIV has it's own DNA, but it is not something that people inherit, it can be prevented in fetuses who are carried by HIV infected mothers!
Now, I don't know where the original topic has gone, because I haven't been very active in this blog. But it is getting confusing!
Wow, try to answer those questions by Dianatn. You and I are friends, but I feel like you are trying to defend someone who is bashing other's, starting blogs like this and then leaving the scene, and having people like you defend him after the smoke settles.
I am beyond confused with your thoughts!
Sorry about the typo's I have people in and out of my office and trying to type at the same time..:>(
Dianatn... thanks for your words of wisdom.
I know personally that I was not sitting there one day and just all of a sudden decides, YUP I want to be gay!!!
It just doensnt' happen like that. Just like there is never a light-bulb moment in most straight people's life who say "Hmm, I think I want to be straight."
The debate will be endless as people who have no experience with the issue always have a voice. I understand they have a voice, but to use it so unwisely and to suggest that THERE IS NO WAY SOMEONE CAN BE BORN GAY, is the opitome of modern day ignorance.
Homosexuality is not a disease, so there is no need for a cure. It is not a disorder so there is no need for therapy. It is not a lifestyle, so it shouldn't be labeled. It is part of WHO I am. I was born with blue eyes that changed to brown, I was born with pale skin that turned to tan... I was also born with 10 fingers and 10 toes, and everything else in tact. But above all of that, I was NOT born with compassion, love, and acceptance, that is a learned behavior and emotions.
I was not BORN with faith, that was instilled in me from as early as I can remember, I was however born different. I was born to question everything I have been told, I was born to NOT take no for answer, if the YES was more appropriate. I have never been given the chance to LOVE someone openly, and without judgement. That is all I, and most other gay people want. Is for people to just understand, that we are no different in our desires. We just want to be able to love.
I think I, along with others can point to research, facts, evidence, and faith as to our reasons for believing in something. But all of those things have allowed me to believe in "ME". And for someone to wish to deny me happiness, because they don't think I'm "normal", are putting themselves above god, above the church, and beyond human comprehension.
Nobody wants to change your mind Weezie, Michael, Faxxis, whoever you are that disagree. The only thing I want, is to live in the same world you live in, share the same rights as you, and fill the earth with an abundance of compassion, mercy, love, and even faith.
All of us will continue to disagree on many issues, that's what makes America unique, but fighting for gay rights, is just another social movement like women's rights, civil rights, and human rights.
It isn't up to anybody to determine what is best for me and who I love. And how they think god intended everything to be. I love God, I believe Jesus had a special mission in his life, and I also believe I have a purpose. If it isn't to change your minds and make you see things with a clear conscience and forget everything you think you know, then maybe it is to just be ME. That is something nobody can take away. God made each of us different wether it was our color, our nationality, or sexual orientation, or our height. We are all a part of god's kingdom, and with that, I think I have found my purpose in life.
I don't hate homosexuals, it seems you all are overlooking my comments and everything they have to say. I have not a single problem with homosexuals, not one. I don't believe that homosexuals are going to hell, but I also don't believe that a person is born gay. That is the point I was making earlier. As for the topic about Jonah and that whale, I don't know much about him, therefore I didn't post my opinion. It is possible to spread AIDS to an unborn fetus, that was the point I was trying to make about AIDS. It seems we get on here and argue and argue. All of my comments have been mostly my opinion, with a few statements I've found online, but mostly my opinions. It seems that I get on here and voice my opinion and then people question it. NO one said that a person's opinion is always going to be correct, and with saying that, I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong about something. But when my opinion just so happens to be something that I strongly believe in, I won't change it, unless something or someone comes along and makes me feel like my opinion is wrong. That's the point I am trying to stress to you. It feels like everyone is just trying to change everyone else's opinion. In future blogs, I will just post my opinion, whether everyone else thinks it is right or wrong, and please don't question it, and I won't question yours. Because just like I am not always right about what I say, I'm sure neither are you.
I am ;)
weezie One last question to you then I am going. I am getting bored with these same tired responses.
You said, you agreed we Live by the New Testament not the old, yet the scriptures you pulled to support your views on homosexuals are from the Old Testament.
You said, You did not think homosexuals would go to hell yet, you pulled scripture to prove they should be abolished or put to death..
And last..but certainly not lest I never demanded anything from you I simply ask where the scripture you quoted, was taken from in the Bible (although I should have known it was from the Old Testament)
diana, you just answered your own question. i quoted those scriptures from the old and new testament simply because you wanted to know where at in the bible it said not to lay next to another man. i didn't mean to confuse you, and we stopped living according to the old testament when jesus died and rose again, and the new testament and laws were put into effect. that's just my opinion on some of the bible though.
