Fresh Air and Cellphones?

It strange when somebody walks up and tells you they they read your blog and it ticked them off.

I went in to work last night and a friend of mine who I have known for 4 years said that her and her husband did not like it that they could not smoke in restaurants because of the new law.

That I was all for it did not go over to well with them either.

They said that they found it just as offensive for people to be on their cellphones in restaurants talking personal or impersonal business while they were trying to eat and that as a favor to them I should voice their opinions ,so there I did.

I do have a problem with cellphones going off in theaters ,and school plays or especially churches or funeral homes, but in restaurants I don't see an issue with it.

It seems like no matter what anybody does or says it will tick somebody else off.

At least on the inside the air will be cleaner even though you might get bombarded by somebodies cellphone conversation at least it won't cause death ,unless you hear something you shouldn't.

Actually I saw on a newscast just last night about cell phones usage causing cancer and young children are more effected than adults because their skulls are thinner.

Does this mean they will soon be banning cell phones for children? Gee I certainly hope not, there sure will be a lot of angry children

Oh geez, banning cellphones? I have never heard of anyone dying from second hand cellphone conversations.

"It seems like no matter what anybody does or says it will tick somebody else off."

AGREED.

I guess everything causes cancer now in days.

No one said anything about second hand cell phone usage causing cancer.

Oh I am sure there will be a study soon that says that the phone waves sent off by cell phones causes second hand cell phone cancer *sarcastically said* lol

OMG, no more texting in public, UGH! lol...

As long as the conversation isn't loud I don't see the problem. If I am at dinner with someone and we are having a conversation then their cell phone rings and they answer I find it rude, but what do I care if they aren't sitting at my table?

Well Michael why didn't you tell those folks that you didn't have anything to do with the law being changed, but that you have a right to your opinion and you stand on it.

I don't smoke, but honestly I could care less either way, as it doesn't bother me if other people do.

As for cellphones, well I cut mine off in the theaters and actually I leave mine on vibrate all the time anyway. I do see where it would be rude to have a conversation that the whole restaurant could hear, but other than that, these folks need to get over it.

MICHAEL,

I BELIEVE YOU MISSED THE POINT ON THE CELL PHONE ISSUE WITH US. ITS NOT THE PHONE USE PERSAY ITS THE RUDENESS BEHIND IT. ILL BE THE FIRST TO APPLAUDE TODAYS TECHNOLOGY AND ITS PROPER USES. LIKE THE OPORTUNITY I HAVE TO RESPOND TO YOU,OF COURSE WE ALL KNOW WHOS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE INTERNET (RIGHT AL..HAH) OR THE FOOTBALL GAME IN HIGH DEF. I REALLY WANT TO SHAKE THAT GUYS HAND! ANYWAY THE CELL PHONE ISSUE IS MORE IN OUR VIEW THE MIS-USE OF IT. MOST PEOPLE I KNOW GO OUT TO EAT TO RELAX AND ENJOY THE ATMOSPHERE OF THE PLACE WE'RE EATING,AFTER ALL WE'RE PAYING FOR THAT TOO. WE REALLY DONT WANT TO HEAR LOUD TALKING ON PHONES TO THE GIRL FRIEND ABOUT YOUR BOY FRENDS' NEW GIRL FRIEND ETC..OR THE VOLUME YOU USE TO EXPRESS IT. CELL PHONES HAVE IM SURE SAVED MANY LIVES AND SURE WILL SAVE MANY MORE AND I BELIVE THEY CAN ONLY GET BETTER, BUT I BELIVE THERE IS A PLACE AND TIME FOR IT AS YOU MENTIONED EALIER. THIS REMINDS ME OF MY 15 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER GETTING HER FIRST IPOD..SHE ACTED LIKE SHE WAS THE ONLY ONE ON THE PLANET WITH ONE AND WANTED TO TAKE IT EVERYWHERE. THERE AGAIN THERE ARE PROPER AND IMPROPER PLACES FOR THEM. THIS IS HOW SOME OF THE CELL PHONE USERS ACT ON THIERS. WE REALLY DONT WANT TO HEAR YOU CONVERSATION AND IF YOU REALLY WANT US TO PLEASE CALL US AT HOME SO WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HANG UP IF WE'D RATHER NOT LISTEN. AS FAR AS THE SMOKING ISSUE..WE REALIZE HOW BOTHERSOME IT CAN BE TO SOMEONE WHO DOESNT SMOKE AND THEREFORE WE SAT IN THE SMOKING SECTION AND THEY DIDNT. NOW THAT THE LAW HAS CHANGED WE WILL ALSO FOLLOW IT WITH NO PROBLEM. WE HAD OUR OWN SECTION AS SMOKERS NOW MAYBE ITS TIME TO HAVE A CELL PHONE SECTION FOR THOSE WHO JUST CANT STAY OFF IT LONG ENOUGH TO EAT.

I am not a complainer on these blogs, but I really wished people wouldn't type in all caps. Makes it hard to read and just seems like you are screaming at me.

I think people overuse cell phones way too much. So many times I have seen a driver almost hit someone or be careless because they were talking on a call phone and most of the time the conversations are not that important. I also hate it when I am waiting in line and someone is checking out and they answer their phone and ignore the employee dealing with them and the other people in line. To me that is extremely rude . . . you are holding people up and also hindering the job of the employee for some silly conversation. I have seen this a lot at the post office, the bank, and at Wal-Mart. I mean really, can you not wait until you are done and out of line instead of holding up the line?

I hate to admit it but my husband does this going through the drive thru. I get very ill with him because it is rude. Don't wait to get to the order machine thing to call the kids and say what was it you wanted? He's getting better because I do point out how rude it is when he does it!

I just have one comment~ what is so important that you cannot wait until you get into your car to talk? and not hold up the line in the grocery? I just think people have a new toy ~ maybe they will soon tire of it and use it more wisely. Hope so.....

I ran into this at Southside Baptist Church.

It's also on a Christian Tech site run by a fellow called Necromars.

Bible and cellphones

I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?

What if we flipped through it several times a day?

What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?

What if we used it to receive messages from the text?

What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?

What if we gave it to kids as gifts?

What if we used it when we traveled?

What if we used it in case of emergency?

This is something to make you go....hmm...where is my Bible? Makes you stop and think "where are my priorities?"

Oh, and one more thing.

Unlike our cell phone, we don't have to worry about our Bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill.

And no dropped calls!
