There is a news article on www.afa.net about a transgender pastor who gets to keep his job , how wrong is that?

You are either born male or female by God's own design. It should not be an option to add or take away equipment.

This may be accepted in the "world" but not in the house of God.

The bible says to not be of the world and if the world is coming to this I don't want to be.

I am not sure how to link to the news article , but I will try if I fail please advise me how to.

Actually, some people are born somewhere in between the two genders. Hermaphrodite I think is what they are defined as. Kinda like the little girl born with 4 arms and 4 legs. Did God make them? If scientists prove that homosexuality is genetic, it will be hard to argue against them having an equal place in God's kingdom as well I imagine. All in all I would have to say that just because someone doesn't fit Michael Bell or Nathan Evans' definition of normal doesn't mean that they don't fit God's definition of normal.

The bible says that Satan is the ruler of this age , maybe he does it or maybe it is still part of the curse I don't know.

-- Posted by michaelbell on Tue, Nov 6, 2007, at 9:50 PM

How convenient.

-- Posted by nathan.evans on Tue, Nov 6, 2007, at 9:52 PM

Michael, you are absolutely ridiculous... GOD MAKES EVERYONE!!!!!! All are imperfect. One would think god gives everyone eyes, ears, mouths, etc... He also makes people with downs syndrome, handicapped, blind, and deaf. He also made people who were born with two different reproductive organs.. There is a difference between CHOOSING to change genders, and being born with both features and having to decide one or the other... I can't believe you of all people would be think you have the authority to deny someone from loving God. In your opinion, if one is not the opitome of perfection they aren't allowed to love god.. What then would be the purpose of god if everyone was, in your eyes perfect?

Hmm, now I'm no Bible scholar like some people around here, but I've never even heard of this "Satan is the ruler of this age" reference...where exactly would be the passage that says that "2007, or somewhere thereabouts will be the age of Satan"? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I agree with the whole "Dr. Frankenfurter" preacher thing, but that's for his/her/its church to decide. If you don't believe in letting transsexuals be preachers, don't join that church.

Folks might not want a transgendered pastor but I've heard tell God has this 'priesthood of all believers' thing going where anyone who believes on Him can share the Gospel, heal, prophesy, comfort those in need, cast out demons, etc.

That may not cover all the duties of a member of the clergy but it covers enough of the main items that a person confined to the laity can still be useful in God's work.

Michael, most of the time I can see at least a ray of hope for a relevant point in your blogs...but honestly, why do you give a rat's butt if someone elses preacher used to be a woman? Live and let live man, you'll be much happier that way.

God is the only person who has the right to pass judgment on anyone because he truly knows their heart and mind and can judge accordingly and he is without sin. We all are sinners and so we have no place to judge anyone else or to determine who is worthy of God's love and who is not. That is what upsets me so much about so many churches today . . . they spent so much time pointing the faults in others that they never focus on finding the faults within themselves. Everyone needs to worry more about their own actions and beliefs and not spend their time passing judgment on others when they have no right to do so.

What really kills me is when you see churches like the Baptist church become political and try and tell everyone how they should live and how people who donĂ¢??t follow their belief are living in sin but then you turn around and hear of scandals within their own church (especially of greed). The way you draw people in is to set an example yourself and not going around passing judging and criticizing everyone when they donĂ¢??t believe exactly as you do. When you consider yourself above someone else just because you judge them as sinners then you are no better than the people who represent the Westboro Baptist Church from Topeka Kansas who walk around and spread hate and contempt.

I've always thought that God was all loving.

So I wonder now when did "man" take over God and decide for him who is and is not allowed to worship him.

It's hard to be different in a world where everyone is different but yet strive to be the same.

I give kudos to the person that choose to be honest about their transgender, even though I am sure they knew it would not settle well with everyone.

I wish that all find peace and love in their hearts and accept EVERYONE as they are.

I got something in my email earlier that I think deserves to be read by you, Michael and the many others who do not see people....

"We were the only family with children in the restaurant. I sat Erik in a

highchair and noticed everyone was quietly sitting and talking.

Suddenly, Erik squealed with glee and said, 'Hi.' He pounded his fat

baby hands on the highchair tray. His eyes were crinkled in laughter and

his mouth was bared in a toothless grin, as he wriggled and giggled with

merriment.

I looked around and saw the source of his merriment. It was a man whose

pants were baggy with a zipper at half-mast and his toes poked out of

would-be shoes. His shirt was dirty and his hair was uncombed and

unwashed. His whiskers were too short to be called a beard and his nose

was so varicose it looked like a road map.

We were too far from him to smell, but I was sure he smelled. His hands

waved and flapped on loose wrists. 'Hi there, baby; hi there, big boy. I

see ya, buster,' the man said to Erik.

My husband and I exchanged looks, 'What do we do?'

Erik continued to laugh and answer, 'Hi.'

Everyone in the restaurant noticed and looked at us and then at the man.

The old geezer was creating a nuisance with my beautiful baby. Our meal

came and the man began shouting from across the room, 'Do ya patty cake?

Do you know peek-a-boo? Hey, look, he knows peek- a-boo.'

Nobody thought the old man was cute. He was obviously drunk.

My husband and I were embarrassed. We ate in silence; all except for

Erik, who was running through his repertoire for the admiring skid-row

bum, who in turn, reciprocated with his cute comments.

We finally got through the meal and headed for the door. My husband went

to pay the check and told me to meet him in the parking lot. The old man

sat poised between me and the door. 'Lord, just let me out of here

before he speaks to me or Erik,' I prayed. As I drew closer to the man,

I turned my back trying to sidestep him and avoid any air he might be

breathing. As I did, Erik leaned over my arm, reaching with both arms in

a baby's 'pick-me-up' position. Before I could stop him, Erik had

propelled himself from my arms to the man.

Suddenly a very old smelly man and a very young baby consummated their

love and kinship. Erik in an act of total trust, love, and submission

laid his tiny head upon the man's ragged shoulder. The man's eyes

closed, and I saw tears hover beneath his lashes. His aged hands full of

grime, pain, and hard labor, cradled my baby's bottom and stroked his

back. No two beings have ever loved so deeply for so short a time.

I stood awestruck. The old man rocked and cradled Erik in his arms and

his eyes opened and set squarely on mine. He said in a firm commanding

voice, 'You take care of this baby.'

Somehow I managed, 'I will,' from a throat that contained a stone.

He pried Erik from his chest, lovingly and longingly, as though he were

in pain. I received my baby, and the man said, 'God bless you, ma'am,

you've given me my Christmas gift.'

I said nothing more than a muttered thanks. With Erik in my arms, I ran

for the car. My husband was wondering why I was crying and holding Erik

so tightly, and why I was saying, 'My God, my God, forgive me.'

I had just witnessed Christ's love shown through the innocence of a tiny

child who saw no sin, who made no judgment; a child who saw a soul, and

a mother who saw a suit of clothes. I was a Christian who was blind,

holding a child who was not. I felt it was God asking, 'Are you willing

to share your son for a moment?' when He shared His for all eternity.

The ragged old man, unwittingly, had reminded me, 'To enter the Kingdom

of God , we must become as little children.'

If this has blessed you, please bless others by sending it on.

Sometimes, it takes a child to remind us of what is really important. We

must always remember who we are, where we came from and, most

importantly, how we feel about others. The clothes on your back or the

car that you drive or the house that you live in does not define you at

all; it is how you treat your fellow man that identifies who you are"

I think the last phrase sums it up, but the story was a great one.

I think that the United Methodist Church is a wonderful place to be and good for them for not standing between God and his people. Shame on you Michael for thinking that you can declare who is worthy and unworthy.

-- Posted by nathan.evans on Wed, Nov 7, 2007, at 9:26 AM

Thanks for sharing the story Laura, it brought tears to my eyes!

-- Posted by DannysGal on Wed, Nov 7, 2007, at 10:37 AM

DoNOT judge folks unless you can handle being judged by the same degree....

Ya just ain't gonna change their minds Michael, so let it rest for crying out loud!

What difference does it really make anyhow?

I think there are other things Christians could be working to change for the better than an individuals orientation.

Oh, and that was a good story up there. Thanks Laura.

There was fly bothering me, telling me I was wrong for changing my crooked teeth God gave me and for correcting the -12 and -13 eyesight God gave me, but I got him with my flyswatter.

That was a lovely story,Laura.

"Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done unto the least of these, my brethren, ye have done unto me." (Matthew 25:40) ...

Man has made much of who he could exclude but God has embraced even those who were rejected in former days.

Man has tried to insist that only those capable of fathering children can serve the Lord but God reaches out to the old,the young, the woman, the eunuch as well as the poor, the criminal and other marginalized people.

Why should He be concerned with our gonads when He can make children of earth and stone?

Why should He care about the color of our skin or what language we speak when He can change them as He wills?

Why should He care about any of the factors from which we claim our power when all we have comes from Him?

God cares little about whether a person is 'equal' to another.

He judges us on whether we are equal to the tasks He sets before us and whether we would take the unique part of Him that is within us and utilize it to the fullest extent of HIS abilities as well as our own.

Let the enemy have his moment as 'C E O' of this planet.

It is still owned by the Almighty and we have been given stock in the company.

We have a hostile takeover coming with people the devil would never suspect acting as the Lord's proxies.

1 John 4:19-21

19:We love because he first loved us. 20:If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 21:And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.

Just something for you to ponder on Michael. Because you seem to have contempt and hate for anything different than what you believe to be normal....

-- Posted by jesuslovesevery1 on Wed, Nov 7, 2007, at 4:56 PM

It is not hate of the person it is hate of the demonic spirit on them that causes them to do these strang things.

I do love my fellow man , just not the things they do and if it is of the anti-christ attitude , then I am against it.

-- Posted by michaelbell on Wed, Nov 7, 2007, at 5:12 PM

I hope we don't have to have DNA tests to determine if we're following God's edicts.

Imagine the marriages that would have to be annulled if it were discovered that the parties were of a different race or gender than what was printed on their birth certificate.

Think of the jobs or appointments lost.

Older folk might even have to turn in their diplomas or military benefits if it were determined that they weren't eligible for those perks at the time they were received.

Think of how those who knew them might feel defrauded after finding out that they'd been led into thinking someone was deserving just because they were competent and of good character.

As for those who have had surgical realignment because they felt "trapped in the wrong body",might some of them be responding to the lie that they're not "good enough" in the form they were born in?

In the film 'Imitation of Life',was the young girl rejecting her race or the baggage her society insisted came with it?

Some cultures have had men posing as women and women posing as men because the opposite sex was supposed to have more spiritual power.

They had to pretend to be different from what they were to wield the right "magic".

Today,we do much the same with the "correct" age or height, weight, eye or nose shape, hair texture or color.

Why can't we trust our Maker to instill worth in all of us-whatever props we might have?

Before we reject people for trying to make their bodies conform to the image they have of themselves, why don't we stress that their inner selves has a lot more to do with who they are and what they can accomplish than any body parts or any material posession?

-- Posted by quantumcat on Wed, Nov 7, 2007, at 8:42 PM

But the point is Michael the only person on here who seems antichrist is you. You show no love, compassion, mercy or understanding and think you have the authority to cast people in and out of heaven as you please.

Don't use scriptures to preach your hate, because you know what they makes you, EXACTLY LIKE THE PEOPLE YOU SAID ARE "NOT AN EXAMPLE OF JESUS' LOVE"... Maybe YOU should let "SLEEPING DOGS LIE." These are your very own blog titles that you yourself have the hardest time comprehending.

You are either born male or female by God's own design. It should not be an option to add or take away equipment.

This may be accepted in the "world" but not in the house of God.

A woman had two girls that were both suposed to be boys according to the ultrasound. Loved both girls dearly but also disapointed to not have at least one son. A few yrs. later pregnant for the 3rd time and suposed to be a boy again! Gave birth to a beautiful baby BOY this time! A dream come true for the mother. The Dr. came in and says Mr. and Mrs. so-n-so were not sure your son is in fact a male, we can not find either testicle. We need to do some test to determine your childs true gender. Completely shocked with this news! After 3 days of waiting on test results the boy was in fact a boy. His testicles were in his abdomen and would require surgery before he turn a yr. old if they didnt come down on there own.

Maybe my story is off base but what if he had in fact been a girl with a boys anatomy? He would have spent his whole life on male hormones, never had children, and suffered the wrath of other children and even cruel adults if anyone found out. The other option would have been to have reconstructive surgery and be a girl!

The option to add or take away equipment would have been a blessing had this situation not turned out the way it did!

Can anyone here tell me this child would go to Hell if he had surgery to reconstruct?

Not by the God I believe in!

-- Posted by Disgusted on Thu, Nov 8, 2007, at 9:52 AM

If any 'reconstruction' needs to be done,it should be upon the world that insists our genitalia mean more than our minds.

Could a daughter not be strong, assertive, rational and inventive?

Could not a son be artistic, nurturing, spiritual, empathic, communicative and co-operative?

Our group traits contribute to who we are but they do not define who we are.

There are more differences among groups than between them.

Let's recognize our individuality!

In the case of the children in Disgusted's story, were they not *people* more than being boys or girls?

Letting them be their real selves from the inside out would seem more important than what plumbing they arrived with.

Sure, change the body to make it more functional but don't let anyone get the feeling that their soul is substandard unless it comes in a currently approved package.

-- Posted by quantumcat on Thu, Nov 8, 2007, at 12:37 PM

I agree 100% quantumcat.

-- Posted by LauraSFT on Thu, Nov 8, 2007, at 1:18 PM

Great way to put it quantumcat...

-- Posted by darrick_04 on Thu, Nov 8, 2007, at 2:22 PM

Thanks. :)

-- Posted by quantumcat on Thu, Nov 8, 2007, at 6:46 PM

Given the fact that these are my very own children in my story. My husband and I were devastated! My son did have corrective surgery and his testicles are where they belong.Would I do it again? YES! I want him to have great quality of life and someday have children of his own! Quantumcat you indicate I would love a child less, thats not the case. I love all my children no matter what plumbing they have.

The fact is that in certain situations a decision has to be made. Who can say that anyone with a deformity will go to hell? That was the point of my story.
