I have always been able to talk to people one on one about Christ or even write about which you all know.
I just realized something , I have never got before my church or any church for that matter and given it.
Reason is FEAR I have a stuttering problem and when I get nervous I lock up worse that a engine with no oil in it.
Pray that the Holy Spirit speaks through me and guides me in my words and that it will have a affect on somebody for I feel called to preach whether full time or not is still up in the air but I always let fear stop me and the Bible says Fear not, but yet I still do.
I feel if I can get through tonight there is no stopping me for Christ is in me and he will lead me .
He will say go and I will ask where , he will say speak and I will speak what he wants not what I want. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Good luck Michael. You are certainly strong in your beliefs and I wish you the best.
Thanks
Remember that Moses was halt of speech and his brother,Aaron was sure he,too, had no skill at talking.
But when the Holy Spirit brought the words forth and that perfect Love cast out the fear, then the message went forth loud and clear.
Even if there had been a stutter, stammer, lisp, voice breaking, etc. who would have taken heed?
Who would notice whether God's voice came through a man raised in the court of a Pharoah or one who tended livestock or netted fish for a living?
Every part of His creation can speak for Him: the earth, the stars, the animals, the plants, the seas...
Don't doubt that you can be used the same way.
If tension binds your tongue and your mind is rushing ten sentences ahead of your mouth, remember that you're channeling God's truth to their hearts rather than human wisdom to their ears.
Why would God choose to work through someone who stammers?
Why would He use a shrub or a donkey?
Perhaps, when He's used his cherubim or glib and polished people,we see the messenger more than we hear the message.
Maybe we want a showman more than we want a Savior.
It could be that God can not only use you in spite of your infirmity but because of it.
Perhaps, you've had this speech impediment so you could listen more than talk, weigh your words more carefully and be judged more by what you do than what you say or how you say it.
Maybe it's so the contrast between what you say in the natural and what you say in the name of God would be all the greater.
Don't let the enemy convince you that your 'flaws' are bigger than God's grace.
The adversary has a reputation for being a smooth talker and he gets people to pay attention to his falsehoods.
There are a lot of clamoring cymbals out there who get heard, too.
But what value have the lies of a con man compared to a humble expression of truth?
What value is there in the noise of arrogance and selfishness compared to a heart-felt whisper of love?
When we remember God,we forget ourselves.
When we remember His perfection,we forget our shortcomings.
Just as a blog that reaches hundreds of people is also a letter to one reader, what you say to a crowd is heard one person at a time.
Think of the loaves and fishes.
Take what you have. Give it to individuals and disregard the number of folk in front of you.
Trust the Lord to feed the multitude with what you offer so no soul goes away hungry.
That will be enough.
Let Go. Let God. Let His will be done.
Bless You
I come from a family of stutterers. We got help through The Stuttering Foundation of America, which is in TN (Memphis, I believe). Their book "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" is what helped my uncles who stuttered. One uncle also went to a speech therapist who specialized in treating stuttering and found that she used that same book in her sessions. Just concentrate on what you are saying rather than on how you are saying it. God's message will come through. I'll ask that you be added to the Prayer Partners list of prayer requests http://prayerpartnersusa.blogspot.com/.
Blessings,
Bud
Thank you and God Bless!
