My Wish For The New YearPosted Monday, December 31, 2007, at 12:41 PM
My Friend: I am asking you the most important question of life. Your joy or your sorrow for all eternity depends upon your answer. The question is: Are you saved? It is not a question of how good you are, nor if you are a church member, but are you saved? Are you sure you will go to Heaven when you die?
God says in order to go to Heaven, you must be born again. In John 3:7, Jesus said to Nicodemus, "Ye must be born again." In the Bible God gives us the plan of how to be born again which means to be saved. His plan is simple! You can be saved today. How? First, my friend, you must realize you are a sinner. "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Because you are a sinner, you are condemned to death. "For the wages [payment] of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). This includes eternal separation from God in Hell. " . . . it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment" (Hebrews 9:27). But God loved you so much He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, to bear your sin and die in your place. " . . . He hath made Him [Jesus, Who knew no sin] to be sin for us . . . that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him" (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus had to shed His blood and die. "For the life of the flesh is in the blood" (Lev. 17:11). " . . . without shedding of blood is no remission [pardon]" (Hebrews 9:22). " . . . God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). Although we cannot understand how, God said my sins and your sins were laid upon Jesus and He died in our place. He became our substitute. It is true. God cannot lie. My friend, "God . . . commandeth all men everywhere to repent" (Acts 17:30). This repentance is a change of mind that agrees with God that one is a sinner, and also agrees with what Jesus did for us on the Cross. In Acts 16:30-31, the Philippian jailer asked Paul and Silas: " . . . 'Sirs, what must I do to be saved?' And they said, 'Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved . . . .' " Simply believe on Him as the one who bore your sin, died in your place, was buried, and whom God resurrected. His resurrection powerfully assures that the believer can claim everlasting life when Jesus is received as Savior. "But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name" (John 1:12). "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13). Whosoever includes you. Shall be saved means not maybe, nor can, but shall be saved. Surely, you realize you are a sinner. Right now, wherever you are, repenting, lift your heart to God in prayer. In Luke 18:13, the sinner prayed: "God be merciful to me a sinner." Just pray: "Oh God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus was my substitute when He died on the Cross. I believe His shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection were for me. I now receive Him as my Savior. I thank You for the forgiveness of my sins, the gift of salvation and everlasting life, because of Your merciful grace. Amen." Just take God at His word and claim His salvation by faith. Believe, and you will be saved. No church, no lodge, no good works can save you. Remember, God does the saving. All of it! God's simple plan of salvation is: You are a sinner. Therefore, unless you believe on Jesus Who died in your place, you will spend eternity in Hell. If you believe on Him as your crucified, buried, and risen Savior, you receive forgiveness for all of your sins and His gift of eternal salvation by faith. You say, "Surely, it cannot be that simple." Yes, that simple! It is scriptural. It is God's plan. My friend, believe on Jesus and receive Him as Savior today. If His plan is not perfectly clear, read this tract over and over, without laying it down, until you understand it. Your soul is worth more than all the world. "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?" (Mark 8:36). Be sure you are saved. If you lose your soul, you miss Heaven and lose all. Please! Let God save you this very moment. God's power will save you, keep you saved, and enable you to live a victorious Christian life. "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, Who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). Do not trust your feelings. They change. Stand on God's promises. They never change. After you are saved, there are three things to practice daily for spiritual growth:
Pray -- you talk to God. Read your Bible -- God talks to you. Witness -- you talk for God. AFTER you are saved, you should be baptized in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ as a public testimony of your salvation, and then unite with a Bible-believing church without delay. "Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord . . . ." (2 Timothy 1:8). Please note that you DON'T have to be baptized to go to Heaven. It is a step of obedience for the believer. "Whosoever therefore shall confess [testify of] Me before men, him will I confess also before My Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 10:32). http://www.onenewsnow.com/2007/12/minist... I suspect Man adds the legal aspects to salvation.
(How much water, how public the confession, what sort of "clergy" might be present, etc.)
That seems to pave the way for indulgences or other works-based doctrines.
I'm no expert theologian but I think God would work things so a mute by himself in the middle of the desert could get saved.
(No running river, public repentence or ordained minister required.)
Hearing with the ears would be optional but hearing with the heart and reaching out to God to be made spiritually sound would be essential.
Once the heart is oriented toward God's will, repentence follows and desiring to serve Him becomes more of a joy than a burden.
It's not as hard to be open about one's faith or set aside misbehavior or admit one's faults.
It's not as hard to relinquish crippling hate and fear.
Those things belong to the past.
As uncertain as we might be in the begining, our new strength builds as we grow in faith.
We can begin with baptism as an "official" declaration of allegiance to God that shows that a serious committment has been made.
It is an outward indication of an inward change.
(But the announcement is a token expression.
The indwelling spirit of God is the clearest sign of salvation.
As the saying goes:"When being saved becomes a crime, will there be enough evidence to convict you?")
By that theory, baptism of water or Holy Ghost is a consequence of joining with God-not a pre-requisite.
We don't hide our affiliation because friends don't deny friends.
Does salvation and the declaration of faith mean that it instantly gets easy to be good?
No.
Our fallen nature now has competition from a new God-powered self that will increase even as our former sin-directed side withers.
But,the old part of us hangs on a while to plague us before it dies.
As an ancient Native American once said,"I have two dogs battling within my spirit.
One is a good dog. One is bad."
"Which dog wins?"
"The one I feed the most."
As I understand it,baptism confirms our joining with God and repudiation of evil.
It asks the community of believers to nurture, protect and support the newborn faith.
It is one of the first bits of evidence of our belief.
It is one of the first bits of sustenance the "good dog" gets.
Does baptism make us saved?
Perhaps no more than weddings make us married or funerals make us dead.
The reality can exist without the ceremonies and ceremonies occur with no truth behind them.
But,a baptism or wedding without that covenant of love can be very like a premature burial.
Avoid all three because until the reality matches the ritual, one is going to be very uncomfortable.
So,I'd say don't be overly concerned about a religious ceremony but be as wary of those who seek to avoid it as one would a person who wants to avoid a written, legal contract.
A real covenant requires no more than a handshake but the person whose word is his bond has no reason to refuse a public committment.
that was suposed to be Hebrew is
1Peter 3:21
It washes notning of the flesh but does our conscience goods toward God.
The baptism of Jesus saved us for our sins of the flesh were washed away for the meaning of The Jordan river in Hebre wis the river of death my sins died there , now it is my faith that saves me.
I BELIEVE THAT YOU MUST BE BAPTIZED IN ORDER TO BE SAVED. HERE ARE THE STEPS:
1.HEAR
2.BELIEVE
3.REPENT
4.CONFESS
5.BE BAPTIZED
YOU MUST WORSHIP THE LORD AND BE A WORKER FOR HIM ALSO, IT CAN NOT JUST BE A STATEMENT OF,"I BELIEVE".-WHO WOULD NOT JUST DO THAT?
God Bless you in Az.
GOD BLESS YOU MICHAEL BELL,
KEEP ON WORKING FOR THE LORD,
YOUR WORDS YOU SHARE ARE A HEART OPENER AND A EYE OPENER,BUT VERY VERY TRUE, THANK GOD FOR A TRUE GOD WE ALL HAVE,AND A LOVING LORD GOD WE ALL HAVE ALSO.MY NEW YEAR IS IN AGREEING WITH YOU BROTHER MICHAEL BELL.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL IN SHELBYVILLE TN FROM AZ.
Being born again is FAR more than doing what's expected of you or avoiding eternal torment.
It's more than having access to some celestial Sears catalog.
(I'm going to be like the blind guys describing the elephant here...)
It's a bit like an end to illness or a cool drink on a hot day.
It's a bit like getting a good night's sleep or starting your vacation.
It's like running into that old friend who understands exactly what you're about and likes you.
It's having all your creative juices flowing and seeing the solutions to your problems.
It's perfect weather, your favorite dish,a gorgeous sunset, the wonder in a child's eyes and the goofy behaviour of a beloved pet.
It's the ties you have with kith and kin and the bond you have with those who share your goals and sorrows.
It's finding courage and purpose when you need it most.
It's having everything that matters feel very real and very accessible.
It's knowing you can make a mistake without BEING a mistake.
You belong here and you're exactly who you're supposed to be.
Sure,Heaven is going to be nice.
It's good to become an adult or get a diploma.
But,what we experience before we "graduate" or finish growing is pretty great, too.
It's an adventure just applying the salvation here and now.
Doubting salvation is like doubting being alive or loving.
The more you accept the gift you've been given, the more benefit you gain from it.
With every blessing you claim, you have more joy to impart to others.
Every bit of love you invest in your world reaps unlimited dividends.
That's a *little* of what salvation's like.
Even without the "fire insurance" and cushy "retirement plan",it's worth it.
Giving up the fallen state for salvation is like giving up being an infant to become a grown-up.
We can fear or resent the responsibilities of maturity or we can take pride in the challenges that come with the greater power and privileges.
Souls are rather like green stamps.
We won't know how much wealth they represent till they've been redeemed.
Let's make it great in 2008!
Being saved from the second death which is total seperation.
The jailer when Paul was in jail asked "what must I do to be saved"
I would think it is the Western way of saying "how do I recieve salvation."
where did the phrase "being saved" come from??
