The Ten Commandments[God's Constitution]

I will do all ten commandments which are the first set of laws that I live my life by over anything else.

The ten laws were given by God as guidelines for daily living. They are often called the Decalogue, from the Greek which means ten words.

Although God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses at Mount Sinai more than 3,000 years ago, they are still relevant today.

They have a abiding significance, for God's character is unchangeable.

Jesus placed these laws on a higher plane by demanding the spiritual aspect as well as the legal.

Jesus placed the eternal stamp of approval by saying the following words

5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:17-19 KJV

God never intended for the Ten Commandments to be a set of regulations to receive salvation his favor was already granted to his chosen people.

4:37 And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought thee out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt;

Deuteronomy 4:37 KJV

God even prefaced the Ten Commandments with a reminder of his deliverance

20:2 I [am] the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Exodus 20:2 KJV

The Ten Commandments are still relevant today.

The world desperately needs to see the name and character of God displayed in the lives of the Christians who still take his word seriously.

These commandments along with the teachings of Christ are still the best guidelines for daily living.

1 You shall have no other gods before me.Ex 20:3

Since God's character forms the basis of the covenant with his people ,he demands total loyalty.

when the intent of the heart is to put God first, a person outward actions will reveal it.

Then others will see what God's character is like through his people.

What do we put ahead of God?

wealth, family, jobs, the American dream or our own ambitions for Jesus said "seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all else will follow".

I like your idea of God's Constitution..

though he actually had more than 10.

They actually consist of 17 statements, and there are no instructions in the Bible on how we are to combine and group these 17 statements so we end up with ten commandments. This presents us with an immediate problem -- which reading do we use, the one in Exodus or the one in Deuteronomy, and how do we combine and group the 17 statements so we arrive at 10 commandments? The answer is no one agrees. The Catholics, the Protestants, and the Jews all have their own way of combining and grouping the 17 statements, each arriving at their own distinctly different version of the Ten Commandments.
