The Mystery of Cain
Posted Friday, March 14, 2008, at 5:18 PM<< Previous | Read comments | Respond | Email link | Next >>
4:1 And the man knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man with `the help of' Jehovah. 4:2 And again she bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. 4:3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto Jehovah. 4:4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And Jehovah had respect unto Abel and to his offering: 4:5 but unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. 4:6 And Jehovah said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? 4:7 If thou doest well, shall it not be lifted up? and if thou doest not well, sin coucheth at the door: and unto thee shall be its desire, but do thou rule over it. 4:8 And Cain told Abel his brother. And it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. 4:9 And Jehovah said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: am I my brother's keeper? 4:10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. 4:11 And now cursed art thou from the ground, which hath opened its mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand; 4:12 when thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee its strength; a fugitive and a wanderer shalt thou be in the earth. 4:13 And Cain said unto Jehovah, My punishment is greater than I can bear. 4:14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the ground; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a wanderer in the earth; and it will come to pass, that whosoever findeth me will slay me. 4:15 And Jehovah said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And Jehovah appointed a sign for Cain, lest any finding him should smite him. 4:16 And Cain went out from the presence of Jehovah, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. 4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch. 4:18 And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methushael; and Methushael begat Lamech. 4:19 And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah. 4:20 And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents and `have' cattle. 4:21 And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and pipe. 4:22 And Zillah, she also bare Tubal-cain, the forger of every cutting instrument of brass and iron: and the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah. 4:23 And Lamech said unto his wives: Adah and Zillah, hear my voice; Ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: For I have slain a man for wounding me, And a young man for bruising me: 4:24 If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, Truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold. 4:25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth. For, `said she', God hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel; for Cain slew him. 4:26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enosh. Then began men to call upon the name of Jehovah.
Genesis 4:1-26 ASV I believe that Cain and Abel were twins.
The reason that Cain's offering was not accepted was that he brought forth of the ground which had been cursed Abel must have learned what happen in the garden of Eden and seen where God covered his parents with animal skins and seen that it was Animal sacrifices that pleased God not cursed offerings.
Cain premeditated to kill Abel and did.
Cain either took a cousin or sister or maybe there were other people I don't know.
If it was a family member the gene pool would have been pure enough to not have birth defects I would think.
Whether Cain's own family would have killed him or other people is up for debate.
When he was sent East of Eden into Nod That would be the deserts of Israel and the Middle East.
He has children then vanishes or does he?
4:23 And Lamech said unto his wives: Adah and Zillah, hear my voice; Ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: For I have slain a man for wounding me, And a young man for bruising me: 4:24 If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, Truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold. Genesis 4:23-24 ASV
This verse appears out of nowhere unless you know where to do the research. The "Book of Gasher "which is mentioned in the Bible in Josh 10:12-13 and 2 Sam 1:17-27. It is considered in Jewish faith to be accurate it was lost for centuries then rediscovered.
The Bible does leave some questions unanswered or so it seems. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit you find these things out.
I to read the oter books of the Bible and take stock in some of them.
And it was in the hundred and thirtieth year of the life of Adam upon the earth, that he again knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bare a son in his likeness and in his image, and she called his name Seth, saying, Because God has appointed me another seed in the place of Abel, for Cain has slain him.
And Seth lived one hundred and five years, and he begat a son; and Seth called the name of his son Enosh, saying, Because in that time the sons of men began to multiply, and to afflict their souls and hearts by transgressing and rebelling against God.
And it was in the days of Enosh that the sons of men continued to rebel and transgress against God, to increase the anger of the Lord against the sons of men.
And the sons of men went and they served other gods, and they forgot the Lord who had created them in the earth: and in those days the sons of men made images of brass and iron, wood and stone, and they bowed down and served them.
And every man made his god and they bowed down to them, and the sons of men forsook the Lord all the days of Enosh and his children; and the anger of the Lord was kindled on account of their works and abominations which they did in the earth.
And the Lord caused the waters of the river Gihon to overwhelm them, and he destroyed and consumed them, and he destroyed the third part of the earth, and notwithstanding this, the sons of men did not turn from their evil ways, and their hands were yet extended to do evil in the sight of the Lord.
And in those days there was neither sowing nor reaping in the earth; and there was no food for the sons of men and the famine was very great in those days.
And the seed which they sowed in those days in the ground became thorns, thistles and briers; for from the days of Adam was this declaration concerning the earth, of the curse of God, which he cursed the earth, on account of the sin which Adam sinned before the Lord.
And it was when men continued to rebel and transgress against God, and to corrupt their ways, that the earth also became corrupt.
And Enosh lived ninety years and he begat Cainan;
And Cainan grew up and he was forty years old, and he became wise and had knowledge and skill in all wisdom, and he reigned over all the sons of men, and he led the sons of men to wisdom and knowledge; for Cainan was a very wise man and had understanding in all wisdom, and with his wisdom he ruled over spirits and demons;
And Cainan knew by his wisdom that God would destroy the sons of men for having sinned upon earth, and that the Lord would in the latter days bring upon them the waters of the flood.
And in those days Cainan wrote upon tablets of stone, what was to take place in time to come, and he put them in his treasures.
And Cainan reigned over the whole earth, and he turned some of the sons of men to the service of God.
And when Cainan was seventy years old, he begat three sons and two daughters.
And these are the names of the children of Cainan; the name of the first born Mahlallel, the second Enan, and the third Mered, and their sisters were Adah and Zillah; these are the five children of Cainan that were born to him.
And Lamech, the son of Methusael, became related to Cainan by marriage, and he took his two daughters for his wives, and Adah conceived and bare a son to Lamech, and she called his name Jabal.
And she again conceived and bare a son, and called his name Jubal; and Zillah, her sister, was barren in those days and had no offspring.
For in those days the sons of men began to trespass against God, and to transgress the commandments which he had commanded to Adam, to be fruitful and multiply in the earth.
And some of the sons of men caused their wives to drink a draught that would render them barren, in order that they might retain their figures and whereby their beautiful appearance might not fade.
And when the sons of men caused some of their wives to drink, Zillah drank with them.
And the child-bearing women appeared abominable in the sight of their husbands as widows, whilst their husbands lived, for to the barren ones only they were attached.
And in the end of days and years, when Zillah became old, the Lord opened her womb.
And she conceived and bare a son and she called his name Tubal Cain, saying, After I had withered away have I obtained him from the Almighty God.
And she conceived again and bare a daughter, and she called her name Naamah, for she said, After I had withered away have I obtained pleasure and delight.
And Lamech was old and advanced in years, and his eyes were dim that he could not see, and Tubal Cain, his son, was leading him and it was one day that Lamech went into the field and Tubal Cain his son was with him, and whilst they were walking in the field, Cain the son of Adam advanced towards them; for Lamech was very old and could not see much, and Tubal Cain his son was very young.
And Tubal Cain told his father to draw his bow, and with the arrows he smote Cain, who was yet far off, and he slew him, for he appeared to them to be an animal.
And the arrows entered Cain's body although he was distant from them, and he fell to the ground and died.
And the Lord requited Cain's evil according to his wickedness, which he had done to his brother Abel, according to the word of the Lord which he had spoken.
And it came to pass when Cain had died, that Lamech and Tubal went to see the animal which they had slain, and they saw, and behold Cain their grandfather was fallen dead upon the earth.
And Lamech was very much grieved at having done this, and in clapping his hands together he struck his son and caused his death.
And the wives of Lamech heard what Lamech had done, and they sought to kill him.
And the wives of Lamech hated him from that day, because he slew Cain and Tubal Cain, and the wives of Lamech separated from him, and would not hearken to him in those days.
And Lamech came to his wives, and he pressed them to listen to him about this matter.
And he said to his wives Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice O wives of Lamech, attend to my words, for now you have imagined and said that I slew a man with my wounds, and a child with my stripes for their having done no violence, but surely know that I am old and grey-headed, and that my eyes are heavy through age, and I did this thing unknowingly.
And the wives of Lamech listened to him in this matter, and they returned to him with the advice of their father Adam, but they bore no children to him from that time, knowing that God's anger was increasing in those days against the sons of men, to destroy them with the waters of the flood for their evil doings.
And Mahlallel the son of Cainan lived sixty-five years and he begat Jared; and Jared lived sixty-two years and he begat Enoch. Comments Showing most recent comments first [Show in chronological order instead] |

Hey! Don't shoot the messenger!
I am only revealing things in the bible that should have been revealed 2,000 years ago.
As far as the Rapture goes, most of us don't have the stomach to be one of the 144,000. No one has ever explained to us what these 144,000 jews do except go where ever Christ goes forever. The bible says in Rev 14, that they come with Jesus when Christ returns. When Christ returns, the kings of the earth send their armies out to defend our world against these invaders.
The United States will be sending our children, parents and relatives to the Middle East to fight in this war against the Lord of Lords and King of Kings.
You see, I believe it was Pres. Bush, Sr. who signed the 666 Treaty that stated that any country that didn't fight with the United Nation Forces would be considered its enemy.
The Bible says that Christ will defeat the Kings of the Earth (the Governments) Chain satan up, and cast the Beast and the false Prophet in the Lake of Fire, then slay the wicked and the evil.
This is what the 144,000 Jews who are in the Rapture will be doing first. I don't think I could stomach doing that.
Let's take another look at all this. The Bible said the people who were in the Rapture were "Redeemed from the earth" or "caught up" in the clouds. They are instantly transformed from earthly bodies to immortal bodies. They remain with Christ forever with these immortal bodies. That means these 144,000 can NEVER be Killed... and our Government is sending our armed forces against Christ to be "Slaughtered" by an immortal force.
I didn't write the Bible, I only read it. According to the Bible this will happen one day. May be this year or it could be 10,000 years from now.
The Book of Revelation is a Fascinating Book. It reveals our "Life after Death". Before you can understand Revelation you must know 2 things. 1.You must Know and accept what happens to you when you die and 2. Realize that Revelation was written for the last generation and the last generation is the first generation to go through the Massive Trials and Tribulations.
I have found that just about everything in the Bible can be taken literally. There may be a couple things that look like they are symbolic but most times they are hypothetical situations to explain a parable or become a parable. Remember God has hidden the truth so it has to be hidden some how in the Bible. Some answer aren't revealed on one page or in one chapter or even in one book but many. Some things you have to go outside of the bible to find.
The Book of Revelation appears to have a lot of symbolic answers but with all the cloning being experimented with today, who's to say there isn't a horse out there somewhere with wings and a head like a lion and a man's face with a tail like a snake?
Please tell me if I am ruining the Blogs for you and I will stop!

I was watching Richard Roberts "hour of Healing" when he used it to define how you know the holy spirit has revealed something to you. I knew what he meant so that is what I go by. It is very rewarding. I can't take the credit for coming up with it but I use it when I want to know if I am right about something. If everyone used it they might think before they spoke.
This doesn't mean you are 100% right, it just means it's the best you can understand it with the information you have. However, until someone comes along and adds something to what you know that will make more sense, you have to go with what you have.

The third heaven IS "Paradise" and "Paradise" is in the new city of Jerusalem "the New Heaven" which hasn't been created yet, so no one goes to (this) paradise. No one has gone to heaven except Jesus - (John 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
This proves no one has gone or will go to heaven when they die! You will find Paradise in Revelation. Describe it to me If you can.
I agree I said that, word for word, but I didn't say that "God's will" was a Paradise somewhere nor did I say he changed his will. You said that!
What I said was Moses begged God to change his mind about killing the Jews when they were in the wilderness or the world would accuse Him of leading his people out of Egypt then killing them in the wilderness. The world would not think highly of a God who done that, so God didn't kill the jews. I would have to say that God changed His mind wouldn't you???
The way you twist everyone's words around to mean something they didn't say makes me realize you could never understand the Bible the way it is written until you stop twisting words around.
Here's one for ALL the Preachers!
There are over 600,000 Preachers, Pastors, Ministers and Evangelists teaching that they and most of their church members will hopefully be caught up in the Rapture and they will reign with Christ for 1,000 years.
Boy, are they going to be surprised!
We all know that the word rapture isn't in the Bible but we call it that just the same so I will use the word Rapture here.
This Rapture is explained in Revelation. If we look at [Rev. 7:1-8] we see who will be in this Rapture.
(verse 4) And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
This 144,000 were from the 12 tribes of Israel, so they are Jewish people.
There should be no question now as to how many servants of our God were Sealed in their foreheads. Now we have to go to Revelation chapter 14, verses 1,3 and 4, to see who these 144,000 servants are and to prove that they are Raptured up.
Revelation 14
1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.
2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:
3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.
4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
Here we have to pay attention to the terms used. This 144,000 have the Father's name Sealed in their foreheads. They are all male virgins and are Redeemed from the earth and from among men, being Firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
When Jesus was resurrected, He became the Firstfruits of them that slept. [1 Corinthians 15:20]. The 144,000 are the Firstfruits unto God and the Lamb. We see that they were Redeemed, not resurrected. therefore they were caught up in the clouds. Also, they follow the Lamb where ever He goes.(That is forever, Not for 1,000 years like preachers claim today) In [Rev. 14:1] it tells us that these 144,000 come with Christ when He returns. So the Rapture consists of Only the 144,000 Jewish male virgins who were sealed in their foreheads.
The Apostles talked about being caught up in the clouds and instantly being transformed into spiritual bodies and being with Christ forever. We have just assumed that this applied to everyone. It doesn't. It is only for the 144,000. The Apostles may be in this group, if they weren't married. Very few people today qualify, because all of these 144,000 are Jewish virgin men. That eliminates all other races and Nationalities. There will absolutely be no Women at all in the Rapture!
IF there are over 600,000 Preachers, Pastors, Ministers and Evangelists teaching that they and most of their church members will hopefully be caught up in the Rapture and they will reign with Christ for 1,000 years, that leaves 456,000 of these preachers, etc. waiting to be raptured up long after the rapture and that doesn't count the church members, only the preachers, etc..
I wouldn't count on being in the rapture if I were you!
Boy! What a Unique-Lie the preachers have been telling you all these years! Sounds terrible I know, but shouldn't you know the Truth? Don't take my word for it, read it for yourself. Ask your preacher to explain that to you.
You said this...
"This third heaven is the "Paradise" Jesus told the man on the cross he would be in that very afternoon. Jesus didn't say he would "go" to "Paradise", He told him he would be "in" "Paradise" meaning in a trance. You see Paradise will be in the New City of Jerusalem when it is created but Paradise doesn't exist anywhere today."
Then you said you didn't say it...WTH?
You stating that God's will changes? Sorry I don't buy that, or he wouldn't be God. He knows all why should he have to change his mind?
Unique-Lies,
Very good and thanks for the answers.
I feel what you mean when you said...."When you know, that you know, that you know, that you know, then you can be assured that is as good as it gets. It is the Holy Spirit that reveals the truth to you in one way or another."
It is just something about that ever so calm and satisfying knowing that is hard to describe. It is not confusing at all but calm and soothing and all knowing. You best said it in the post above.
parkerbrothers
Yes you are right. A free will is the main ingredient. If we have to be forced into loving God and/or our neighbor where is the Love? Jesus said He is the one who reads our hearts so we can't fake that.
In the old Testament they had to use animal blood to cover their sins or hide them from God so to speak because Jesus had not yet died for their sins.
That means they all died as sinners and went to Hell. Jesus visited Hell and witnessed for God and gave His own Testament of what He done to take their sins away. Those who believed Jesus would not remain in Hell so they would have been placed in Hades. Hades was never mentioned in the old testament, only hell. Hell still showed up in the new testament so hell still exist and is getting larger. Hades was introduced for the first time in the new testament. After Christ was risen christian people can now go to Hades instead of hell if they are born again. So we have two places now seperated by a gulf, but deep inside the earth, one for sinners and one for the righteous.
I said in an earlier post that when a christian dies he/she sleeps. That is documented in the bible. Read the story of Lazarus. Jesus was asked to come before Lazarus died. Jesus waited long enough for Lazarus to die then told His disciples that He had to go a wake Lazarus. The disciples said if Lazarus was only sleeping surely Jesus didn't need to go to wake him. Jesus then told the disciples that Lazarus was actually dead. Lazarus's body was dead but his soul was sleeping. Jesus woke Lazarus's soul and his body came to life. Jesus did the same thing for a 12 year old girl. He told the family that the girl was not dead but only sleeping, then raised her from the dead.
The Bible is very hard to understand and I don't understand it all. (Did you read that Evil Monkey? ) I nor anyone else understands the bible completely. You see we make up the body of Christ with our knowledge. No one person makes up the complete body of Christ, but when we come together we make up the whole body of Christ. This is the main reason for going to church.
When you read the bible you get an idea of how it is suppose to be. You may have questions about it but if you keep reading His word and keeping your eyes and ears open something will happen or information will come from someone that puts it all together for you.
When you know, that you know, that you know, that you know, then you can be assured that is as good as it gets. It is the Holy Spirit that reveals the truth to you in one way or another.
You asked: What is your thought of the current canon (Bible) we have today. Do you trust in it to be the guided word of God to us? Is it complete and sufficient?
Glad you asked me that question!
I rely on the King James Bible but use other Bibles to read along with to make sure I am understanding what I read. The new King James Version is starting to lose it's true meaning in the translation but still a good bible. I read it for the larger print. I use an older version of the KJV to get my information out of.
Here is one example: The word "sleeps" apply to Believers who have died. when you read sleep, sleeps, sleeping, you know that the person is dead but is a christian believer and his or her soul is sleeping. The new version changes the word "sleep" to "dead" but puts in a foot note stating that the original word was sleep. You can still see that the dead person was a christion and their soul is sleeping. If the footnote is removed, you will only know the person is dead. You won't know if they were a sinner or a christian or where they went, hell or hades.
The Christian Coalition had a bible printed up that they called "The Book". I was excited to finally buy a copy. I must warn you that "The Book" opens the door for the Anti-christ. The anti-christ won't have a lot of trouble convencing people to worship him if they read "The Book". It is a printed copy of someones interpretation of the Bible.
I believe we are safe reading most Holy bibles but a lot of the truth may be lost in some making it hard to understand everything. The bible is meant to be read so you can get to know Jesus. There must be over 100 different translations of the bible around the world so who can say which ones are the best.
If you should pick a bible that isn't the right one I don't think God is going to blame you for reading it. God will punish the ones who wrote it.

I said that paradise is a trance that you go into when you die. When you are resurrected you are taken out of the trance to face your maker. God help us all.
You are the one that said Gods original plan was to make earth a paradise, not me!
God has changed his mind a couple times if you have ever read about Mosses you would know that Moses convenced God to not kill the jews in the wilderness.
As far as the bible goes it is full of answers to everything, not just Heaven, Earth, Hell, Paradise, etc. I will agree with you that I do NOT know a whole lot that is in the bible. I only know what has been revealed to me and that may not be the full story. I can only present what I know and leave it up to someone else to fill in any blanks.
Thank You! It took a while to come up with the name. I am sure it scares some people away but this world is full of Lies and they have been taught for years so that makes them Unique-Lies.
The Governments Lie to the people also and the laws in this country are written like the bible. They say one thing but can mean something else entirely. You have to know how to interpret the wording or meaning.
Unique-Lies,
You are the one that said Paradise is a "trance" Which is a State of Catatonic. You said that. God's original plan was the EARTH to be paradise. Are you stating God changed his mind?
And I will state one thing, You can know the Bible all you want, but it isn't everything about Heaven, Earth, Hell in it. There is alot more that you don't know about.
BTW, perfect name.
Unique-Lies,
It is early yet, but I must say the most of what you say is the gospel as I know it and trust in.
I actually do not disagree with anything you have said above. I just am not knowlegeable enough at this point in my walk of life to discern some of the comments readily.
I was just going to comment on Jesus' trip to hell when I read your last post. I had always thought he went to preach the gospel to the ones that had never had the opportunity to hear it and/or show himself as the promised and delivered seed that they all had to look forward into the future with Faith to see or in disbelief to deny.
I admittedly struggle with some of the concepts of Hades and Hell you mentioned but do not mean to say I do not believe when it is only my ability or lack of ability at this time to understand.
For whatever reasons, I hope you continue to monitor the posts on here and offer your opinion.
What is your thought of the current canon (Bible) we have today. Do you trust in it to be the guided word of God to us? Is it complete and sufficient?
Unique-Lies,
I truly believe your following comment also:
"God's original plan was for everyone to love God with all their heart, their mind and their soul and to love their neighbor as they love themselves. That hasn't changed since the beginning of time. That is all he has asked for."
He wanted this from a free will also. He could have created 10,000,000,000,000,000,000 control robots to bow at his every command. Instead he wants just one of us to love God with all their heart, their mind and their soul and to love their neighbor as they love themselves of which no one of us has accomplished except Christ. The good news is he did for us what we could not do for him.
jesuslovesevery1
There is no excuse in our country, the USA, with all the churches everywhere and all the anti-christ movements in the news for an American to not know enough about God to make some kind of effort to learn more.
In other countries, NO! I understand your concern but everyone will hear the word before they are judged. That is one reason for the resurrection. To give everyone who died not knowing about God to get a second chance to prove themselves worthy. But you have to remember that satan is released from the Pit at the same time we are resurrected so he can go out and decieve the nations again. Wow! A repeat of what is going on TODAY! Will we get it right the second time? I really doubt it because God destroys satan and his new followers with fire.
When Jesus Died, He went to Hell! Everyone went to Hell in the old testament because Christ is the only way out of Hell. Jesus Christ went to hell to speak God's word to the dead. Those who believed came out of Hell and moved into Hades. These people won't go to heaven just yet. They have to be resurrected and go thru a trial and tribulation before they are judged. Everyone must prove themselves to God, either here and now or after they are resurrected (if they are even resurrected). I don't believe sinners will be resurrected. They will remain dead until they are raised and judged at the second death. They go straight into the lake of fire. BTW they are not tormented in the lake of fire forever. Their soul is consumed by fire and that is the end of them.
One more thing, regardless of what Christians may say God does not LOVE EVERYONE! The Bible lists a whole lot of people that He HATES! If He loved everyone why do you suppose He murdered everyone in the flood that He did? What about the family who stole idols? He told the Jews to stone the whole family, even his children, to death including their animals then bury them and their possessions. Or the man he killed instantly just becasue he let his sperm fall to the ground instead of pregnating the woman? What about the man who was killed instantly by a angle because he lied about how much money he made so he could pay less tithing? And his wife was brought in and asked the same question and she lied. WHAM! She fell dead also. Curiousity killed the cat but in poor old Lot's wife's case she turned into a pillor of salt. If I had of been there I would be salt lick too. I would have had to look back when I heard all the commotion behind me. God pretty much loves everyone but turn on Him and see what happens.
There are Christians in just about every country today spreading the word of God. That's one of the things the churches do. As for many Christians how would they communicate in foreign languages except they are taught it. It isn't the Christians job to teach you anything. That is your responsibility to yourself to learn about God. Christians only open doors for people.
If God doesn't exist you have nothing to worry about, but if He does......
Evil Monkey
When you sit back and look at our planet you will see that God created a paradise when He created the earth. Don't see how the Garden of Eden could be much more beautiful but sure it was somehow. WE have destroyed our paradise all by ourselves by our polluting.
Why would you think Adam and Eve lived in catatonic state? The Bible tells us they lived in the Garden of Eden but was run out of it because Eve Sinned and deceived Adam into partaking of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Who will be living on earth for eternity? Who will be living in the new heaven then? You are partly right.
Of all the people who are resurrected only a small percentage will even have eternal life. Most of us will be cast in the lake of fire. Those who are giving eternal life will be on the new earth. Only certain souls will be allowed to go into heaven as they please.
God will be living in the new heaven with these people(souls) becoming their God, power, and light forever. Paradise is in this new heaven which is approx 2,000 miles wide, 2,000 miles long and 2,000 miles high. Not much room for every one huh?
God's original plan was for everyone to love God with all their heart, their mind and their soul and to love their neighbor as they love themselves. That hasn't changed since the beginning of time. That is all he has asked for.
If there is someone who hasn't heard of God and Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, then they don't know God even exists.
There is no inbetween! Either you are for God or against God. If you don't know about God you can't beleive in God so you are anti-christ (without Christ) until you find God.

Have you not heard that your body is a temple? Your body is the TEMPLE of the Holy Ghost.
Remember Christ telling His disciples to remain in the city until the Holy Ghost came upon them and it would instruct them in their journeys? When they spoke in toungues that was the Holy Spirit within them speaking.
Jesus told the Jews if they believed on Him and stayed in His word, they were His disciples indeed and they would know the truth and the truth would set them free.
You must read God's word yourself to find these answers. You can go to church all your life and the church will still only feed you baby food. You have to feed yourself, then you can feed others as you mature in your learning. It took me years of searching to find the truth. The churches should have been teaching what I know 2000 years ago when it was first spoken. Today churches are teaching mans' word not Gods' word. There are so many lies being taught in churches today that it scares me to think about it.
Sound scary? It should. Christians need to get stirred up and told to read their bible as the holy spirit is with them. I am not saying anything new! It has always been in the bible.
quantumcat
According to your post, you don't know enough about the bible to discuss it with you. When god sends you to a christian I hope you find a good one who knows what he is talking about.
parkerbrothers
You ain't seen nothing yet.
I got more infor than you can absorb and it all comes from the bible. I won't give you the verses in my blogs because it would take too long, but they are in the bible. I only speak the truth as I believe it with the help of the holy spirit. Even the boring begats in the bible can be very exciting and interesting. There is a lot of infor in knowing them but you have to write them down to see it.
I don't expect anyone to believe me. I am no body. I only ask you to print my comment on this page and keep it in your bible. One day you will see what I am saying is true. I'll be gone then and you will be on your own.
That's very true. Billions of people have NEVER heard of Jesus Christ. How can they be held to the same accountability if they aren't exposed to the same substance?
These lovely so-called Christians would much rather post on these blogs than go out and spread the gospel to places that have never had a chance to hear it. After all, I'd say it's much easier to spread your message in a country that has essentially no opposition to it.
Unique-Lies,
I understand some of what you say, but it isn't a secret, no idea why you think you have some kind of hidden knowledge. The problem is you are in correct about a few things.
For instance, Paradise was God's original purpose, if what you state is true then Adam and Eve were in a catatonic state the entire time on earth. Jesus stated to the thief, you will be with me in Paradise meaning he will be living on earth for eternity, just as God intended.
Now with your assumption that anyone that doesn't believe in Christ is an anti-christ is ludicris because there are people that haven't even heard of him so how can they be anti-christ?
Oh, There's life after death when you are resurrected but that could be centuries from now. The beauty is you aren't tormented in hell or bored out of your mind as you wait to be resurrected. (remember verse where dead are whinning to God how much longer?)
After you are resurrected, right here on this earth, you will be tempted by satan again before Christ destroys the evil with fire from heaven.
Sounds like a repeat of today but that is what the bible tells us.
It is this second death that you are judged and go to the new earth, new heaven or the lake of fire.
You can read it for yourself in the Bible.
More and more people will become non-believers as the bible is retranslated. I think non believers translate the bibles today. Many secrets aren't in the newer translations because they are not translated by people who are inspired by the Holy Spirit. You who read the bible already know this. Anyone who doesn't believe in Christ is anti-christ. Believing isn't enough because even the devil believes and does tremble.
It gets more interesting by the day.
Now that is another good point Q. I want God to reveal compassion, love and truth so that I can show that to others in the way that I behave. I want to allow others to see Him in me. I don't want to be a secret and keep secrets only revealed to me. I want to know that the man on the cross saw Paradise God's paradise=not a trance. Lordy, Lordy, Make me forty...again.
Well, my dears, I must bid adieu, adieu, again I say, adieu...
The dead know nothing and do nothing?
(looks around at the world-and in a mirror)
Why do I feel as if I'm in a George Romero movie???
"Braiiins! We need braaaiiinsss!!!"
Maybe a world where the living knew and did plenty would become a Paradise.
Unique-Lies,
I have a secret, "drop the crackpipe."
Man, Where did you find all this? I find this absolutely unbelievable
Paradise is a trance? No one goes to Heaven? Secrets from the Holy Spirit? Amazing. I can't say anything more than that Amazing!
I mainly read the KJV of the Bible. It is the hardest to understand but it is the holy spirit that explains it to you so that is why I read it. It tells us that the bible was inspired by the holy spirit so we must ask the holy spirit to explain what is in it.
Jesus said in Matthew 11:25 "...I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes."
I have found hundreds of secrets hidden in the bible so I know that is true.
Since the Bible was inspired by God it contains enough information to get us thru life and to know who Jesus really was. Jesus said "If you know me, you know my father". The last verse in the book of John tells us that "..even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen." As far as Jesus's child hood went, it wasn't important because you had to be an adult around 30 years of age to speak with authority. Jesus was like a rebel as he was teaching the world his new way of life. No one could get away today with what Jesus done back then without being called crazy.
Okay let's start with Cain and his wife. The bible doesn't tell us how old cain was when he knew his wife. He could have been 100 years old like most men back then or he could have beeen 200. So he could have married his sister, his bother or sister's daughter, granddaughter or great granddaughter, niece, cousin or distant cousin. They were told to populate the world so it could have been his siter. Incest wasn't a word or crime back then. It was frowned on when Moses lead them in the wilderness, God said brother and sister could marry as long as they didn't have children.
Jesus gave his life once for all mankind. Past, present and in the future. He will not die again for anyone. He was resurrected and has eternal life, never to die again.
Here is a secret for you. No one has ever gone to heaven except he who descended from heaven. That means no one goes to heaven when they die.
We came from the dust of the earth so why do preaches say our loved ones have gone home to be with god. We have never been to heaven so that isn't our home. We will never go to heaven because it is the highest heaven. We go to the new heaven (the new city of Jerusalem) and only a handful of souls will go there when the time comes. You see, this new heaven hasn't been created yet.
Sinners go to hell when they die and their soul dies with them. They aren't resurrected until the judgement day and take part in the second death.
Born again christians and people who never learned about Jesus go to Hades and wait to be resurrected and put though a trials and tribulation after satan is released from the pit.
Okay another secret for you. When you die you know nothing and do nothing. Sinners die and they their memory is erased. Born again Christians "Sleep". They don't become angels or ghosts and roam the earth. They know nothing and do nothing. They Sleep in a trance or "suspended animation", referred to as the third heaven.
This third heaven is the "Paradise" Jesus told the man on the cross he would be in that very afternoon. Jesus didn't say he would "go" to "Paradise", He told him he would be "in" "Paradise" meaning in a trance. You see Paradise will be in the New City of Jerusalem when it is created but Paradise doesn't exist anywhere today.
It is absolutely great how God set it up. When our loved ones die they don't know anything or do anything so we don't have to say "I'm sorry that I...". It just doesn't matter to them what happens from then on after the second they die. They will never know what is happening here on earth. You don't have to think about them watching you or over you. God has ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands and thousands of angels to watch over you. Your loved one is at peace and knows/does absolutely nothing.
I am revealing way too many secrets. Ask the Holy Spirit to come into your life and teach you these secrets and many, many more! I haven't even started telling you the secrets I have been revealed. The Bible is full of Answers and Secrets! I have explained what happens to you when you die. People have wanted to know that secret for centuries and you got it free!
One more secret: Jesus said "You did not choose me. I chose you and ordained you!" If God doesn't make you desire to receive Jesus you will never look for Him.
God had a plan, 1 plan from the very beginning, he hasn't never changed the plan, Yet you keep stating something completely different. The savior never had a plan, actually he didn't want to do it, he feared death. He prayed to God asking for another way. Yet, you stated that it was HIS plan, when it was NOT. Pretty sad thing to say that MY complex mind can't seem to grasp your ramblings of Xanax-induced rhetoric.
Good night Evil. See you tommorrow.
Evil Monkey,
I am probably both retarded and dyslexic if not more.
I have one Christ.
It is that simple.
Simple things are the hardest to understand.
Especially for superior minds as yours.
Not have I seen or heard of an intelligence to match yours since the all knowing Pharisees stumbled all over what they were looking for and never seen it coming or going.
A simple savior with a simple plan. Just to simple to latch onto for a complex mind.
I pray your intelligence can be lowered to a level of mine, if only for a minute, so you can grasp the simplest of all simples.
parkerbrothers,
You can't even read so how you even know what the bible says? Did I say anything about needing two Christs? Actually you are the one that keeps mentioning Christ, and I keep asking Which one? You cannot tell me, instead you twist words or can't read them. Are you retarded or dyslexic?
quantumcat,
You write as well as anybody. As always I enjoy it. It reminds me a lot of Confusious, who had some very good thoughts.
I agree with your comment above...."I'm not sure I think anyone will be able to call themselves a "non-believer"."
I think Greasemonkey was however referring to more than just a simple believer in a God.
I also, like you, would find it hard to imagine someone who did not believe in a God. I think even the demons recognize a God. However, I think the God that makes them shutter is the God of our Bible. This God you seem to be describing does not seem to give any reason to make anyone shutter. I think the demons would actually kinda like this God you are describing. All love, no wrath.
I have yet to see you descibe the wrathful side of God that needs appeasing with a sacrafice? Be nice if that is what he revealed about himself. All love, no wrath.
Evil Monkey will be disappointed though. He has been thinking he needed two Christ when you make it appear we need none. Maybe he will let a little steam off on you for a while instead of me.
This Hell you described is just a little different also than what our Bible describes. Somewhat the same, but lacking a lot of detail.
I am not trying to be cruel but where did you learn of this God and Hell you are describing?
death, burial and resurrection shadowing over it.
greasemonkey,
There is always one thing I learn everyday that is special and different and I know it the minute I see or hear it. Sometimes it comes early in the morning and sometimes it is late at night but it is always that one special thing. It occurred to me today while I was reading your above post that had the comment "Now, Jesus probably didnt do anything in his childhood that remarkable. Its kind of hard to top being crucified for humanity."
You are so right. If I had seen what all the New Testament writers had seen in that short 3-4 year period of time I think I would have a hard time even remembering anything he had done years earlier. I don't think recalling Jesus as a child eating fish stew and playing marbles would be anywhere in my mind whatsoever ever after seeing a crucified and a risen Christ in a 3 day period of time.
There is really nothing missing. It just was not anything to write about when viewed with the
I'm not sure I think anyone will be able to call themselves a "non-believer".
I think that somehow, sometime, all people will be confronted with the ultimate reality.
They will instinctively draw closer to God or away from Him.
What they know of certain doctrines will be beside the point.
A person could have the dogma memorized and the behavior down pat yet still be less interested in God's will than their own agenda.
They need not want to serve evil.
They would be ruined enough just by their being slightly irked by God's intrusion into their lives.
Another person might never have heard of the Lord or been fed false doctrine or think God could never love and accept them.
But,they would long for His presence in their lives.
They would reach out to Him as a dying flower moves toward water and light.
God is already reaching out to both of these kinds of people.
One could choose to be "not at home" when He sought them out.
He would respect their wishes and allow them the life without Him they prefer.
The other could think that God was too wonderful to be part of their reality.
He would find them and coax them as patiently as someone like Cheryl might tell a feral beast:
"Don't be afraid.
You don't have to be alone anymore. I'm here to feed you, heal you, protect you and give you all the love you need.
You don't have to hide. I'm here to give you a safe and abundant life. Let's go home."
I think everyone will have that one moment when they know God-howver they perceive Him to be.
They'll either want Him with all their hearts or want no part of Him.
He'll know which is which and he'll know the confused and frightened from the rest.
He'll know that some who rail against Him want who He truly is but won't accept the lie they've had thrust on them in His stead.
He'll never let go of those who belong to Him.
He'll give them what truth they need.
The rest that never wanted to live in His world will have the world they chose for themselves-a Hell that's locked from the inside to keep any trace of Love and Reason out.
I dont understand what you are saying about two Christs. I would have to see some serious proof of that, and not just some so-so maybe proof. I know there was only one (like highlander lol) Jesus, he was as real as you or me. He has been documented outside of the bible in secular writing.
Now, Jesus probably didnt do anything in his childhood that remarkable. Its kind of hard to top being crucified for humanity.
Yes, I do believe all non believers will go to Hell for all eternity. Jesus doesnt want anyone to go there, and no one has to. The road to salvation is way to simple for us to have an excuse for missing out. If anyone I mean anyone has any questions about there salvation feel free to email me bumper.45acp@yahoo.com or im sure michael would be glad to answer any questions.
Thanks,darrick_04. :))))
If a Man once revealed the majesty of God while leading a happy, normal life.perhaps such a miracle could occur again-for all of us.

AMAZING.
Most biographical accounts focus on the parts of the past that foreshadow or shed light on what the person would be or do in the future.
Jesus' "fans" would have been interested in His being the wonder-working Son of God.
They'd have had less interest in the more important portion of His life-when He learned how to be a human being.
Man has had this strange idea that we have to stop being regular people to be conduits of grace.
Whether our heroes are God incarnate, extraterrestrials or mutants,we insist that they have to be some sort of "meta-human" or yellow suns, radioactive spiders or simple Love won't accomplish anything.
Jesus contradicts that by insisting that His being fully human was as critical an element of His identity as being fully God.
He stresses that He comes not to strip away our humanity but to restore it to us in a form that is intact and totally functional.
His divinity is not a negation of his being a man but a means of being truly human in a way the rest of us have been denied.
It's easier to look at the deity and admire His strength and harder to look at the Man who was no more and no less than what we could be if we weren't hampered by the intrusion of sin.
Most of Jesus' earthly life was probably (of necessity) as ordinary as it could be.
As the story of "The Littlest Angel" so tenderly suggests, the Son of God would need to be a part of the world of hard work, having friends and family, enjoying homemade treats, delighting in the gifts of God's creation and, perhaps, even having a pet.
He would have to belong to this world to have the right or the ability to redeem it.
We prefer to ignore Jesus' time as Jesus in favor of His time as God and Christ.
The Messiah is safely Other.
Jesus is a challenge to take on the mantle of righteousness and become who we have been created to be.
No wonder we have more stories of healing rabbis and precocious boys astounding their elders in the temple and a noticeable lack of accounts of a lad who hauls water for his mother, sweeps sawdust in a carpenter's workshop, gains a peeling nose while fishing with his friends, falls asleep to the sound of rain on His roof and licks honey from His fingers.
If a Man once revealed the majesty of God while leading a happy, normal life.perhaps such a miracle could occur again-for all of us.
I think there is a good argument that the Apocrypha at least should be retained and continue to be studied but I don't think they are essential to understanding Jesus. I have some downtime planned to do more study, but right now my job has me so busy I don't have much time for outside studies. Been in this trap for the past three years (new job duties) but hope to see light sometime -maybe before I retire. Ha.
Ok. I can understand that type of scenario. Do you discount any other books that were in the Bible before the 3rd century then or is that still under criticism also?
Not trying to be a smart ass, but are you saying Jesus is kind of like The Highlander gaining the Quickening?
-- Posted by Evil Monkey on Mon, Mar 17, 2008, at 4:49 PM
Well something like that except there was only one other "Immortal" with the power to do the Quickening and it was done once and for all.
So, in other words those who met in him teenage years would have never realized he was the "Christ"... It's very odd how most autobiographies don't skip over 25 years of your life.
-- Posted by nascarfanatic on Mon, Mar 17, 2008, at 3:20 PM
I think that is right. People that knew him might have thought him an extraordinarily good fellow, but in his neighborhood he was probably still thought of as the "unfortunate" child conceived out of wedlock - the carpenter's "son". It is odd, but the story is always in the hand of the author to put in or leave out what he sees fit. And I't sure you won't be surprised if I say that I think that is all God wanted us to know. If you need more by all means seek it out.
Not trying to be a smart ass, but are you saying Jesus is kind of like The Highlander gaining the Quickening?

After reading the comments to Michael's blogs this weekend, I had just about decided that I should never return since I was not seeing anything profitable in the discourse. I couldn't see where God or Jesus was being glorified but was tempted several times to add comments that probably would not have done so either. However when I got up this morning I happened to pick this up. I keep this prayer near my desk and it never fails to humble me when I am reminded that if we honestly and humbly seek God that we have his assurances that he will guide us. I think this is what it truly means to be a seeker.
"My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think that I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it. Therefore I will trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you will never leave me to face my perils alone." - From "Thoughts in Solitude" by Thomas Merton.
So, I guess I see more clearly now that there are many seekers here regardless of our differences and maybe the discourse in not in vain. I only pray that it can be more civil and profit everyone more. Having said that, I would like to apologize and seek forgiveness from anyone who I may have directed unkind remarks to in the past. I will endeavor never to do that again.
The following comment is based on my understanding of the Gospels and a little study over the years.
"Why does the Bible not include anything from after the birth until the adult life?" I think this is because there wasn't much of a story to tell between the birth and the beginning of his ministry. Until Jesus was baptized by John and the Spirit anointed him, he was not equipped to do miracles, to teach, or preach, etc. I think he was just an ordinary person, well maybe a little extraordinary, but not supernatural.
He's listed his number on numerous blogs... I would search a few of Michael's other ones... I can't remember it, lol!
Evil Monkey,
oh, thats ok. I can print them, if I need to. I can't wait to start reading! Um, but how do I get my email to you without posting it here?
greasemonkey,
Did you know that there are several names of "Christ" in the bible, did you know they were all different people in different parts of the known world at the same time? How do you know you are worshiping the correct Christ? If you keep reading parkerbrothers comments, he always mentions Christ, Never Jesus. Makes you wonder, actually it makes me wonder what his beliefs are.
Another thing, I know I will be part of God's plan, I have no doubt. He is a forgiving God for the others that do not open their mind, I do not worry for anyone. But to think there is only the Bible you hold in your hand, the thoughts of a Trinity, the Golden Gates of Heaven, The Fiery Pits of Hell, etc... Then you have been decieved.
Let's really think about this, Why is there nothing about Jesus' childhood in the Bible? Why only a small snippet of his teenage years? What about women in the Bible, why do you think they didn't have any position of power or martyrdom? What about the explanation of Heaven and Hell? Or better yet, When God's Plan is fulfilled, what REALLY happens to the non-believers?
Why does most churches say you will go burn in hell if don't believe as they do? Why does it say Sin, Wickedness, Hunger, Death, Satan, The Harlot, The Beast, Gluttony, Sadness will all be cast into the lake of fire... Never says non-believers will be... Seems like all sin will be gone.
I just have a hard time believe the God that Michael preaches about will hurt his creations when he promised them eternal life. IF you really believe the Bible is complete, and that God is this merciless entity full of discipline and fear, then so be it. I guess it is easier to believe and follow the pack.
Welcome back,Mr. Davidson!!!
You've been missed.
I'm glad you're doing well.
EM, I might like some copies of your materials,too-if that's all right.
Well, let me first say one of the commandments states "thou shalt have no other gods before me". If the God or Jesus you talk about is not the same one thats in the Bible, then that is a false God. What I mean is that you have created your own God to bend to your rules so you dont have to change the way you live. Just because you call your personal god Jesus doesnt change the fact that you are worshiping a false god. The Jesus I worship is a risen saviour, documented in the complete and correct Gospels. I dont want to force my beliefs on you, Im just saying that if you want to call yourself a christian then thats how it is.
LOL... That's hilarious. Won't happen. Educated people can believe in God and believe in Jesus, without walking around with a mini bible in their pockets. It is 2008, and it happens everyday.
No prob. I do disagree with almost all you have to say but I hope we can keep a good debate going in a civilized manner. I hope someday though, I can change your mind on some things.
greasemonkey,
Sorry for assuming, my bad.
countrymom,
They are digital copies so I can give to anyone. I place them on my PDA and laptop. If you want hard copies I can print them out.
If you will look EM I said "most", you may be the only exception. Alot of others just parrot what you say. I dont agree with you on most things, but I do understand where you come from most of the time.
Really EM? You don't want them anymore?
I'd LOVE to read them! How can I give you a holler? I can always just borrow...
It wasn't as complicated in those days.
God gave his approval, the couple announced their committment to one another, their kith and kin made sure they had all they needed to run a household then everyone had a party.
Now,folks can dispense with the sanction of God and community.
They may lack the knowledge and the material goods to support themselves.
They still expect to party.
It might be better to grow up,own your own things, have your own livlihood, have friends and family for back-up and include God in every step from the first kiss to the last moment of a life-long honeymoon.
Besides, when God was included in the ceremony,He acted as matchmaker, provided the catering, the kippah, the ketubah and everything else.
I would like to respond to some of the comments on The Mystery of Cain.
I am not being critical, only correcting the misunderstanding.
First the writer says, "I believe that Cain and Abel were twins."
That may be your personal belief but is not backed up by translation.
The word "again" in the following translations shows the English word "again", yacaph in Hebrew, is (according to Strong's lexicon) a verb meaning "to add, increase, do again." It is used throughout the Hebrew Scriptures when something is done again even a long time after the first.
If Cain and Abel were twins Moses would have told us so even as he did about Jacob and Esau, Perez and Zerah.--Gen 25:24; 38:27
It is the same word used in Gen 8:10 when Noah sends out a second bird "again" after 7 days and in Gen 25:1 when Abraham takes a wife "again" after Sarah died. And in Gen 38:5 when Judah's wife gives birth "again" to her 4th son.
Your quote from the American Standard, "And again she bare his brother Abel" does not show him to be Cain's twin. Note how 13 other versions render this verse.
If you are unsure of the translation name abbreviations in caps please send me a note and I will write out the whole names of the translations for you.

Second,
"Cain either took a cousin or sister or maybe there were other people I don't know. If it was a family member the gene pool would have been pure enough to not have birth defects I would think."
It had to be a sister, a cousin or a niece (an aunt?) because their were no other people. Moses does not say how many children were born to Adam and Eve before Cain murdered Abel. He only reports on the ones who made certain history Cain, Abel and Seth who was born when Adam was 130. But Genesis 5:4 states that during his 930 years Adam fathered "sons and daughters." Cain's line ended with the global Flood of Noah's day.
Third:
The book you are quoting from beginning with the paragraph starting, "And Seth lived one hundred and five years, and he begat a son, "the words after this are not part of the Bible and so not trustworthy as scripture. Whatever they say is nothing more than Jewish myth and Paul instructs us not to pay attention to Jewish myths and stories.--Titus 1:14
Who married all these people??? Adam and Eve were first right, so who provided the ceremony? It's all confusing.
countrymom,
I can give you a complete set if you want.
Grandpa,
Very nice read, and I hope the Phillippines are treating you well, it seems like it.
Was Cain's wife a mystery?
When some of the religious critics of Jesus questioned him because they did not believe in the resurrection he told them WHY they did not know the answer.
Jesus said, . . "You're off base on two counts: You don't know your Bibles, and you don't know how God works...... don't you read your Bibles?" (Matthew 22:29, MSG)
What does the Bible itself say about Cain and his wife?
Genesis 3:20 (CEV)
"The man Adam named his wife Eve because she would become the mother of all who live."
The wife of Cain was a descendant of Eve.
Eve was the mother of everyone born. So Cain and his brothers evidently married one of their many sisters, since there wasn't anyone else alive to marry.
Genesis 4:16,17 (KJV)
"And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch."
The problem with understanding who Cain married stems from verse 17. For some unknown reason people think he never knew who she was until he went to the "Land of Nod". But that's not what the Bible itself says.
The old English KJV uses the term "knew his wife" where modern English uses the term "had intercourse with his wife". This certainly doesn't mean that he didn't know her before the day they got married and started a family. It just means that he at that point in time "knew his wife" in the sense that he at that time "had carnal knowledge of her" and therefore they conceived a child.
He evidently married one of his sisters or nieces and took her with him to the "Land of Nod" where they started a family and built a city to house their growing clan as he "knew his wife" quite a few more times over the hundreds of years they lived. Thus they would have produced a lot of children, grandchildren, etc.
Genesis 5:4 (KJV) "And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters"
Did you notice here that Adam became father to many sons AND DAUGHTERS. Just because the Bible doesn't name the daughters doesn't mean that they weren't there, lots of them. Cain evidently married one of his sisters or nieces and took her with him to the "Land of Nod" where they started a family.
Someone might object, saying that it's against the law to marry your sister. Well, yeah, after a couple of thousand years it became against the law. But it certainly wasn't against the law when the only women alive, other than your mother, were your sisters. Even hundreds of years after the flood it was okay for Abram to marry his half sister Sarai. However during the time of Moses it was prohibited. When man was created and placed in the Garden he was perfect. After Adam and Eve sinned they became imperfect. But it took nearly a thousand years for their imperfection to cause their death. Their children were close to physical perfection. They contained all the genes to make the diverse races of mankind. If was only later when mankind's life span had dwindled to about 80 years that the problems of inbreeding had to be legislated against in the Law of Moses.
There is no indication in the Bible that Seth was only the third son of Adam and Eve, only that he was born after Abel died. Adam and Eve had many, many sons and daughters. Seth is mentioned prominently because his descendants were the ones that survived the flood and figured in human history.
(And "Hello, Shelbyville!". I lived in Shelbyville in the 1970's. I owned Keepsake Portraits. I used to take baby pictures at department stores around Middle Tennessee including Sullivan's Department Store in Shelbyville. Today I am in the Philippines, in the sunshine, by the pool.)
You could probably find some of the material on the net, countrymom.
Our library and local bookstores could order them, too.
I figured Cain's sacrifice was rejected because he didn't bother with what God wanted.
Had he done his best with an open heart,I think God would have worked with him.
I suspect if Abel had casually murdered a lamb and gone back about his business,God would have been displeased with him.
No matter how much work we put into things or how fancy our presentation might be,if we don't ask God what He wants of us and try to meet that need,He'll turn away from that offering.
It's not that much about the sacrifice.
Yes,the lamb was a preview of the sacrificial Christ but because of that,in these instances,it's the thought that really does count.
Sometimes,we think we have nothing to offer God.
We may not even feel the will to believe or care about our unbelief.
But,if we give over to God even that mite and say "What I can do,what I have, what I am,is yours for the asking.
If I could love You better,I would," then I think He would embrace with joy what he really wants of us-our hearts.
Note that Cain looked for a way to survive exile but you don't see a word about his trying to repent or ease the estrangement.
There's no hint that he's thought about having hurt his family or even feeling their loss.
Like the lamb, forgiveness itself doesn't enter into Cain's worldview.
Neither does self-sacrifice.
He offered works with no personal involvement and had no concept of atonement and reconciliation.
Adam and Eve lost Eden by their sin but held onto God-even after they, too, tried to avoid taking responsibility for their actions.
That same God would have been there for Cain if he'd reached out for Him.
(We have no record that he ever did.)
We have no record of how that first murder affected his household.
Fittingly, his story is all about Cain with no one else existing except to further his tale.
Perhaps he wed one of the Nephilim or (as Ethiopian texts suggest) he stayed single until Seth had produced descendants and it was this blending of children within the covenant with God and those without that led to man's falling away from God and the need to cleanse the Earth of the abombinations.
They are down at the Library ,or you can get them at Hastings
Where do I find the missing books of the bible at? Can't find them at the public library. How are we to make an informed decision with no more info than we are given?
Faith perhaps? Seriously, I'm going to a bookstore to look. I'd just like to read some more dead sea scroll stories.
really greasemonkey,
Show me one instance where I have cut and pasted. Every word I typed is my own original content.
The story of Cain and Abel, which appears in Genesis 4:1-16 recounts how the two sons of Adam and Eve were treated by the Israelite god Yahweh. According to the story, both offered up sacrifices to God - Cain, the farmer, offered grain and Abel, a shepherd, offered up the firstborn of his flocks. God rejected Cain's sacrifice for no apparent reason and, in anger, Cain killed Abel. Cain tried to cover it up, but God discovered this and banished Cain forever. Cain was shown some mercy, however, because God put a mark on him to ensure that no one would kill him.
This story presents a number of different themes which would become common in biblical literature: rivalries, sin, sacrifice, martyrdom, atonement, the power of God, etc. It also presents a number of problems which theologians and scholars have labored, without success, to explain. Why, for example, was Cain's sacrifice rejected? And who was this wife which Cain eventually found - where did those people come from, if Adam and Eve were supposed to be the only ones?
That's very true!!
I think maybe Adam and Eve should have drunk that draught and just raised pets and produce.
We're a lot better at division than we are multiplying.
Thank God I won't...
Well all I have seen from most of Michaels critics are just cut and paste, or they just parrot other peoples opinion. I have seen little or no originality in everyones shallow attempts to discredit every piece of info Michael provides regardless of the source. And btw Michael I will see you in church on Sun.
THREE CHEERS FOR COPY AND PASTE. HIP HIP HOORAY!!...I would love for an original thought from this "Preacher man" When you don't have a clue and obviously have no answers, then you should STOP. I can copy and paste all day, just makes me look like an idiot that wishes I knew something that I obviously don't.

Hmm, now that we know what some website thinks, can we hear your thoughts? Or, what? I love how you used to not need any facts, but man oh man, you're feeling the pressure now. Is faith alone, not doing it for you anymore?
