Consequences of being a Christian.

I was asked one time why anyone would want to be a Christian.

I thought about it for along time , like years and I have my answer finally, or at least the answer that suits me.

A lot of preachers teach that once you get saved that life is a bed of roses, this is the biggest lie ever told.

When you are unsaved the devil does not mess with you because whether you know it or not you are serving him.

He could not be happier!

I get attacked for my style of preaching, get called stupid for believing the way I do, get laughed at for how I worship.

My wife and kids are under attack as well.

Family has turned on me as well as friends mainly because I gave up the bars and drugs and the lusting after somebodies else's wife or girlfriend.

I believe in one man and one woman and raising my girls with a biblical outlook, fighting for values and morals with my utmost ability yet I still get attacked.

The sign of a winner is not how many times you get knocked down , but how many times you can get back up.

Christ got knocked down for the ultimate K.O. but he got back up and is in my corner now to pick me back up.

For when I get knocked out for my last breath because of him I will go from death to life with no condemnation for he took it all for me.

Don't let anyone fool you , walking the life of a Christian is the hardest walk you will ever walk , but remember you aren't walking alone for when you look back and see one set of footprints they aren't yours they the Lord's who carried you when you fell.

Paul says to finish the race and fight the good fight which is what I will do.

To answer "why am I a Christian and follow Jesus " it is the least I can do for what he done for me.

AMEN!!!

If following God isn't all milk and cookies, neither is being a dupe of the devil.

There's going to be good and bad in both paths and we're going to be responsible for some of both due to our free will and the choices of those around us.

The part that would surprise non-believers is that misery under God brings more peace and satisfaction than an idyllic life under satan's thumb.

If we're going to be hated, let it be because we told the truth rather than lies.

Let us be despised because we love rather than because we hate.

Let us grow weary because we build rather than because we destroy.

May our poverty arise because we share rather than because we waste what we have.

May we be feared, reviled, and punished because we did our best to live up to God's standards instead of sabotaging ourselves, undermining others and never taking up the challenge to be a whole human being.

If our free will is going to come up against an outside, supernatural force,it would make more sense to form an alliance with God.

Would that mean that every moment of our lives would be easy and comfortable?

Would we have total license to live however we wish?

No.

(The enemy won't deliver that,either.)

But,when the believer suffers,it's because he'll stand for something-not fall for anything.

If a person becomes God's pawn,he knows that once he makes it across the board,he can choose whatever means he wants to put the enemy into check.

Michael,you are so right.

THIS is "the toughest job you'll ever love."

When we join up with God,we don't just surrender our hands, our hearts and our minds.

He's got our backs as well.

We're a tag team.

We're Batman and Jim Gordon.

It is the right choice.

It is the least we owe our Creator.

It's healthier than the alternative.

(It CAN be thrilling and fun-sometimes.)

That is the best I've seen thus far from both of you. May God bless you both. You both blessed me today with what I just read from both of your hearts.

And as quantumcat said it is "the toughest job you'll ever love."

The tougher it gets, the more of it you want.

adder,

Yes!

Not only do we have "something" to look forward to, we have "everything" to look forward to. Beyond comprehension.

Michael,

I was reading your heart touching blog topic again and thought about the hurt you must feel when you wrote "Family has turned on me as well as friends" and thought I would try to offer some encouragement. I was reminded of someone who seemed to have experienced the same thing a few years back. Part of his his story is below:

Mark 3:21-35

21And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.

22And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.

23And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?

24And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

25And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

26And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.

27No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.

28Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:

29But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.

30Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.

31There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him.

32And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.

33And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?

34And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

35For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

Sometimes our natural and earthly family and friends can turn against us when we are born again and start transforming and growing into a new man.

Luckily, I have not had to experience family and friends turning on me but am sympathetic to knowing it can happen. Keep your head up and distinguish between your temporary earthly family and friends and your eternal family and friends.

Remember as you see a new sun rise this morning "we" are one day closer to the eternal and one day further from the temporal. Remember too this is only possible because of a sun that rose almost 2000 years ago. What a bright sunrise that must have been when He stepped out of that tomb.
