40 miles SE of Pergamos lies Thyatira now occupied by the small village of Akisher, it name is derived from "thuos which means sacrifice, and ateires which means unweary-hence unweary of sacrifice".

Christ comes here to judge who sees with omniscient eyes, her latter works , accomplishments were greater than the first ones.

The source of trouble here was Jezebel who taught Christian people to commit fornication and to meat offered to idols.

Often the best meat was that had been offered to idols and with the meat came the idolatrous customs and ceremonies , here is where the Jezebel cult came into being.

It was insisted that there was no harm in accepting the world's customs and the world's ways.

In effect it was saying if the standards of the Word of God clashed with business interests, then the standards of God must be abandoned .

How this is true today when people are forced to assist with things that goes against their religious morals?

Doctors being forced to do abortions, being forced to give lesbians artificial insemination to have children, and all kind of other ungodly sins!

The Jezebel cult would argue that there was no harm in conforming to the outward ceremonies and rituals of the world...that by being sensible in these things, we will win the heathen much more easily..

But as usual God gives even the most wicked the chance to repent.

Christians need to reflect on how much they conform to the world to just fit in because they don't want to be different.
