Getting Older Hurts Like HeckPosted Sunday, September 21, 2008, at 11:16 AM
When I was younger I could work all day and run all night, not any more!
My day started at 4 am Saturday when I went to cut wood with my daddy. His sister's husband had a stroke so we were helping him get his wood in and to have some to sell to get them through the winter. We cut till about 12:00 and my daddy actually let me use his chainsaw, used to all he would let me do was pile brush and stack wood. Got home and done my errands then decide to take the family to the Coffee County fair for a while. Walked and rode a few rides[It hurts to ride them now]. Got home, went to bed about 12:00 and woke up hurting all over. I can still go but it just takes a while longer to go back for more. Sunday is my day of rest and boy am I taking advantage of it. As you get older, you learn how to save time and money.
After a while, you can stay home and do chores for a couple of hours and get as stove up and fuzzy-brained for free as you used to get from a weekend of partying.
If it used to take a glass of wine and some Barry White to tempt you into bed,now you're ready after a cup of hot cocoa and listening to Veggie-Tales.
Life's a lot simpler when you can have a morning after without having a night before.
A hot bath or shower, some stretches and linament and some vitamins and aspirin can prevent or ease a lot of the fatigue and discomfort that comes with over--stressing the body at any age.
Now,if you'll excuse me,I think I'll let the rest of the housework wait until later and go out with my friends to buy a joint.
(Now,which should I get first,a new knee or a new hip?)
