Maverick and morePosted Friday, October 3, 2008, at 6:22 PM
We have been hearing this term "maverick" during this race for the white house more than James Garner did during his portrayal of "Bret Maverick".
I looked it up in the dictionary and it reads as follows-Samuel A. Maverick 1870, a AM. pioneer who did not brand his calves, a unbranded range animal or a nonconformist. I guess anybody could fit the last description because the status quo has changed and varies so much. I guess if you don't conform to the group you are associated with then you are a maverick. John McCain sure fits the bill of maverick, he tries to do what is right whether it is of his party or not. I watched last night's debate and thought Palin done real good, I was amazed that both parties agreed that marriage should be between one man and one woman and no other way. I had been told and heard that Obama wanted to pull all restraints and make it a amended law to allow same sex marriage I guess time will tell. On nuclear power, neither Iran nor the other middle east countries should have them and the ones that do need to be watched very carefully. Israel has to have them for they are despised by all the ones around them. On the economy , the bible says to first seek the kingdom of God and all the rest will be given to you. Don't store up your treasures here for moths and rust will destroy them, [this was paraphrased of course] This bill is like the little boy who stuck his finger in the dam and plugged the whole while it burst around him. Most people will not be mavericks when the Antichrist shows up for they will take his mark and follow him blindly, all the way to slaughter. Time will tell, be sure and vote your conscience and not your party, if a Christian Vote the Bible which should be your conscience Comments Showing most recent comments first [Show in chronological order instead] |

Never said I had perfect english skills.
To should have been 'too', in your last attempt at a sentence.
Thank you and I corrected it,I guess I have been typing damn to long.
Completely random and unnecessary post here, but...
I laughed out loud at your spelling of dam. You spelled it the sinful way.
Well, this bailout plan was a Bush policy from the start and Obama voted for it.
No change there.

I believe I stated that a few comments before yours... and that I wasn't happy with it... But you do notice how he didn't vote for the original Bush plan...

Oh well, I am too good of a mood to argue semantics since Vandy won and is 5-0!! WOO-HOOO!
I hear you darrick.... LOL. : )
darrick_04 . . . your point was proved mute in that Obama also runs on a campaign of change and hope and has drilled it over and over and he proved neither for voting for the bailout and following the Democratic party line.

In case you haven't noticed, his slogan of hope and change is dead on.. A change from the disastrous Bush policies, and hope that America can become a nation that is looked up to again, instead of frowned upon. There is no pot calling the kettle black, you just completely misinterpret his slogan.

If you are going to call a kettle black you might want to make sure your pot isn't black too.
In what ways? Does it teach us about war? How we should hate those who are different? Does it teach us about greed and forgetting our brothers and sisters in need?
Disturbia,
It does teach quite well about our brothers and sisters in Christ.
The Brothers and Sisters though I am referring to have the same Father. All were born again.
Who is the father of the brothers and sisters you are talking about?

Perhaps the person who needs to cling to his Bible a bit more is Bush... and McCain. With all this talk about Obama's faith, I have never heard McCain mention a THING about his. None whatsoever, is it because he has changed denominations several times to fit whatever region's personification of what is the correct one?
Someone made mention that even Southern Baptist ministers are upset with McCain because he chose a woman as his running mate, and they believe she should be a servant unto her husband and have no role in such matters... Hmm, and all of this from a party that is supposedly a "moral majority"? Please.
Can't blame it on the Christian agenda, if more people would use the bible as their guide the whole country would be a lot better off.
Everytime I heard him called a maverick; it made me want to vomit bile. So because he is a self-proclaimed "maverick", he must be a Christian, right? Look at the Christian agenda and Bush did this past 8 years, Look at the war, the economy, the education system, Every single law is to take away rights, freedoms, education and wealth from the middle class and below. Yet you still believe them... just cause they call themselves Christians.
"John McCain sure fits the bill of maverick, he tries to do what is right whether it is of his party or not."
He is no maverick... If he were a maverick he would have voted against this bailout today, instead he voted FOR it, just like Bush wanted him to! I think both candidates made a mistake by voting for it, but only one claims to be a "maverick" and obviously doesn't live up to the claim.
