All That Can Be Shaken Will Be Shaken[ physically and spiritually]

Posted Sunday, February 28, 2010, at 3:36 PM

With the earthquake in Haiti, Chile, one in Argentina, Japan, it leads me to believe that God is trying to tell us something. Luke:21-11 states the following. And great earthquakes shall be in diverse places, and famines and pestilences , and fearful sights, and great signs shall there be from heaven.

This is one of the signs that Jesus gives himself before his long awaited return, here is a teaching that I think makes the rubber meet the road, it was in some of my notes which I have compiled from different sermons an teachings.

'For thus says the Lord of hosts; Yet once more I will shake the heavens, the earth, the

sea and the dry land, and I will shake all nations' (Haggai 2:6).

'Yet once more I will shake the earth and also the heavens. Now this expression, "Yet

once more", indicates the final transformation of all that can be shaken -- that is, of that

which has been created in order that what cannot be shaken may remain. Let us therefore,

receiving a Kingdom that cannot be shaken, offer to God pleasing service and acceptable

worship' (Hebrews 12:25 to 28).

God is not only shaking things on earth -- He is also shaking things in heaven. 'All the

foundations of the earth are shaking' (Psalm 82:5). 'The powers of the heavens will be

shaken' (Matthew 24:29 & 30). Every Christian needs to be prepared to be shaken, and

that is not easy. Why would God shake His people? To discipline us and purify us for the

Kingdom of God (Titus 2:14); to separate the sheep from the goats (Matthew 25:32).

Remember, this Gospel is a Gospel of the Kingdom of God (Matthew 24:14); it is the

power unto salvation. The Kingdom of God is the only thing that can never be shaken, and

Christians who make Jesus their Rock and Fortress will not be greatly shaken either. 'He

is my Rock and my Salvation, my Defense and my Fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken'

(Psalm 62:2 & 6). God is at work in all the world, shaking everyone and everything

everywhere. There is no use asking God not to shake us, because it is in His will and

power to do it. 'Our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases' (Psalm 115:3). It is

His purpose to shake everything so that only the things that cannot be shaken will be left.

What can be shaken? Empires, nations, governments, monarchies, banks, businesses,

churches, families, individuals and anything else that is not eternal. The only way we can

cope with God's shaking, is to commit ourselves into the mighty hand of God (1 Peter 5:6).

He is the only security mankind has (Psalm 91). We are told very firmly not to love the

world or the things in it (1 John 2:15 to 17). We cannot mix the love of God with the love of

the world. If our hearts are set on the world and the things the world can offer, the love of

the Father is not in us; that means we would love the world more than we love God. The

love of things in the world are not of the Father -- that is they are not of God.

The three sins that lead to eternal destruction; the lust of flesh, the lust of the eyes and

pride of life -- of which pride is the single biggest problem -- are sins from the world, and

can keep us trapped and bound to the things we have in the world. This world along with

some of heaven, is eventually going to pass away and be burned up (2 Peter 3:10).

Nobody has a permanent home here on earth. If we try to make our home in this world,

then we will be greatly shaken, but he who does the will of God lives forever. Even when

we are shaken, if we are founded on the Rock (Jesus) and are doing the will of God, we

will not be swept away (Matthew 7:25 to 27). What is the ultimate will of God? The coming

of His Kingdom to earth as we read in the Lord's prayer. 'Your Kingdom come; Your will be

done on earth as it is in heaven' (Matthew 6:10; Luke 11:2). That is His ultimate purpose

and that is why we need to proclaim the full Gospel in all the world before He comes. We

need to seek the Kingdom of God first and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). God is busy

preparing us for His Kingdom to come to earth. That is why the Lord is shaking His people.

Many Christians are being shaken by severe circumstances to purify them and make them

ready for His coming. Being shaken by God can be most unpleasant, but if we yield to His

discipline, we will be purified and therefore ready to usher in His Kingdom when He

comes.

Everything that can be shaken will be shaken, read the following definitions of the word earthquake:

A commotion or a tempest to rock, vibrate, agitate in any direction, to cause to tremble, to throw onto a tremor of fear or concern.,

My friends, everything that can be shaken, is being shaken. A world whose economy is barely hanging on and then these natural disasters, Iran's leader, a admitted hater of Jews and Christian's states the he is now nuclear, the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob, will watch over Israel.

By the way the only bailout from Hell is Jesus Christ!

The oldest union formed by God, marriage between a man and a woman, is now being questioned and the country is considering changing what God has established, the founding fathers are turning over in their graves. People who speak Christian values are being called haters and people are trying to silence them.

Christian's have let themselves be shook so much that have cowered into a corner, well brothers and sisters it is time to come out and to come out fighting, fighting for Judeo Christian values!

The church will soon be out of the way, either silenced by laws, or in the case of some be raptured out of here, though many will come to know Jesus during the Great Tribulation, but for some it will be to late.

Oprah Winfrey spreads her secularist garbage, and yes I say garbage teaching about the many ways to God., my friends the Bible says there is only one way, and that way is Jesus!

People want to take the blood out of the church, without the blood there would be no church, no salvation, or no hope, in other words, nothing!

Homosexuals may get what ever rights they desire, but for churches to ordain them and to give into the abomination that it is is wrong and I for one will fight it till the end.

Remember, when you cling to Jesus and the bible, you may be shook, you may tremble, worry and doubt, but because of the price paid at Calvary, all shaking will soon cease all trembling will stop, no worries no tears, no pain , no sorrows, for the former things have passed away.

Did God send these quakes, my answer is God only knows for all things done are for his pleasure and his glory.

I will stand on the belief that he ALLOWED them to happen and will continue to allow things to happen to wake people up to the signs of His Son's return!

You are not guaranteed your next breath, so with the next one you take, call upon the name of Jesus the same as the thief on the cross , he never prayed, fasted, tithed or even lived right, but he did know the only way!

So as things start to shake, and they will hold steadfast to your faith and you will find peace.

God Bless!

Speaking of shaken, I read something that really shook me, Mohammad the founder of Islam whose followers that when he ascended to heaven he did so on a horse named BARAK, just wondering if the Muslims are going to ride this Barack all the way into America, just wondering!

To me his entire milleniallist theology is laughable.

Disagree on what points? Good Lord, where to start? From Red Heifers to magic healing Meals and from Bible Codes to the exaltation of Isreal his 'teachings' are completely driven by ingenious marketing and by pandering to the masses fear of 'end times'. No real scholarship exists in this guy (only a B.A. from a school that could hardly be considered the Harvard of Theology) and using him to support an arguement is like using Ronald Reagan as a source to support the theory of 'Reaganomics'.

gottago,

I have watched Perry Stone and find him quite a reliable source.

What have you found to be in disagreement with him on?

Michael,

When are you going to accept that Perry Stone is not a reliable source in a debate?

This is scary! But these kinds of things will happen AFTER Jesus returns for the "church" (raptured) and the rest of the world remains here. We will be gone praise God and not have to experience all of this.

I'm not that interested in folks getting shaken up.

I want to hear whether folks have gotten stirred.

We may not know when the world as we know it will end or when the last battles will occur.

We may not be certain of every detail of the end times or even what the next hours hold for our individual existences.

IF a spirit of holiness has been so blended with our characters that one cannot be divided from the other, then Judgement Day is just one more time to prepare for-like snow days, finals,a wedding day, childbirth, etc.

Each of those examples have aspects that could be dreaded.

But,for those who are ready, the hardship is secondary to the joy that awaits.

We do ourselves a disservice if we focus exclusively on either the negative or the positive parts of future events.

But,we make our biggest mistake in not living fully in the hear and now.

We can serve God and our neighbors best for tomorrow if we make today count for all it can.

Let us be less concerned about what the enemy might do against us next week and more involved in what we accomplish in tandem with God today.

If we work on ourselves, our communities, the well-being of our neighbors and loved ones, then the rest will take care of itself.

The Olympic star wins the gold medal one meal, one practice, one training session at a time.

The Oscar,Tony or Grammy winner succeeds after long hours of study and preparation.

The believer's victory won't be about the last act.

It will be about all that has become second nature to them before.

A student can look at new material and feel overwhelmed by all the knowledge and skills that are unfamiliar.

But,over time, those things become less alien and can be applied to life outside the classroom without a second thought.

Today,we might feel unequal to meeting the tasks the Lord might have for us.

But,if we exercise what we have to the best of our ability,He will cultivate what we have and give us what we lack until we have grown into the roles He would have us play.

The catch is,we can't afford to look so far down the road that we aren't paying attention to each step of the walk that we're on now.

Rather, let us be faithful in little and diligent now so we will have the skills, the tools, the strength and the opportunities for whatever the future brings.

Maybe,we will take arms against the Anti-Christ in the Last Days.

Perhaps,we will counsel, censure, teach or encourage the person next to us when they REALLY need to see the Lord in action.

Either way,we can spite the enemy and glorify God.

But,as much as our foe wishes that it was "all about him",we don't live for his defeat.

We live for God's victory.

*That*'s where our safety, joy and triumph comes in.

Just as our salvation begins now (not after we die),our work for God begins today rather than at the Last Trump,Rapture, etc.

Listen to rebelrosecountrymom and the rest of the wise folk.

Better that someone see one person showing God's truth and love in their lives than hear a thousand jeremiads and warnings about man-made details that fail to pan out.

Show people how to live for God now and place tomorrow in His hand and every concern about today, tomorrow, this world and the next will take care of themselves.

I believe if the end is coming there is nothing that we can do about it. Just believe in yourself and god and your friends and family and enjoy your life until then. If you do that then you have nothing to worry about when the end comes. There is no need to keep yelling about the end is coming. Also love everyone and be kind to everyone no matter what color they are or what they believe in or who they love. Like God does.

Chef Boy R.D.,

For some reason God almost always skipped over and culled the well educated and trained for His messengers.

Most of His chosen ones were simple fisherman or lowly tax collectors.

Even Moses had a speech problem.

Actually it was the well educated and trained that got scorned by Christ.

-- Posted by Blessed Assurance on Wed, Mar 3, 2010, at 6:59 PM

Whoa. Guess I better not listen to Hagee,Osteen or Stone. They must be agents of misinformation.

-- Posted by Chef Boy R.D. on Thu, Mar 4, 2010, at 5:08 PM

I agree with Blessed Assurance and Liveforlight.

And Michael if people get offended at what the Word says then they are really getting mad at and disagreeing with God, not you. I finally figured this out. I have learned to walk in love. So many people want to ride the fence. The Word speaks about being lukewarm!

-- Posted by honda14 on Thu, Mar 4, 2010, at 10:53 AM

lazarus,

I think Liveforlight said it quite well.

I might add....Jesus chose fisherman with smelly nets over scholars with scrolls.

-- Posted by Blessed Assurance on Thu, Mar 4, 2010, at 8:25 AM

I'm sorry Lazarus, I thought you were referring to Michaels lack of an education as pertaining to being a minister. To me, that would be seminary or equivalent. The Pharisees and Sadducees had an extensive education but were little more than lawyers attempting to issue licenses for sin through sacrifices, monetary exchange, and traditions.

Anyway, I believe God values our love and obedience far more than our education. Man tends to look at degrees and pedigrees but God looks at the heart.

Look at king David for example, a mere boy not educated in war but defeats Goliath when all those eduated and trained in the art were terrified. David had a love for, and faith in God the others did not. It is in God's power that great works are done not in our own.

-- Posted by Liveforlight on Thu, Mar 4, 2010, at 6:02 AM

these verses are not referring to grammar and math. they are specifically in reference to religious training. as i said before; jesus seemed to have a particular aversion to those who fancied themselves to be great religious scholars, and who substituted pseudo-learned debate over religious minutia for any genuine spirituality... sound like anyone you know?

-- Posted by lazarus on Wed, Mar 3, 2010, at 11:16 PM

Mt 11:25 At that season Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou didst hide these things from the WISE and UNDERSTANDING, and didst reveal them unto BABES:

Lu 10:21 In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou didst hide these things from the WISE and UNDERSTANDING, and didst reveal them unto BABES: yea, Father; for so it was well-pleasing in thy sight.

Ro 2:17 Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,

Ro 2:18 And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;

Ro 2:19 And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,

Ro 2:20 An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.

Ro 2:21 Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?

What is needed to be a leader in the Church is to be a follower of Christ and to obedient to the knowledge one already has through his spirit and instruction.

In my opinion, higher degrees of education, including my own, tend to lead to arrogance. This should be tempered by the wisdom that comes from being made from a babe into the image of Christ. An educated person tempered in this manner can be of great effect for the kingdom and unshakeable.

Educators and trainers often make their students into the image of themselves, not Christ.

Mt 16:6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

"For some reason God almost always skipped over and culled the well educated and trained for His messengers."

really? do you have any sources or references to back that up?

"Most of His chosen ones were simple fisherman or lowly tax collectors."

ummm, "simple" fishermen 2,000 years ago used some of the most advanced technology of their day, and while a tax collector might have lacked some social status, it was an occupation requiring an education.

"Even Moses had a speech problem."

ummm, perhaps you could enlighten me to the relationship between a speech defect and education or intelligence?

"Actually it was the well educated and trained that got scorned by Christ."

i would ask for references, but i do recall that jesus seemed to have a particular aversion to those who fancied themselves to be great religious scholars, and who substituted pseudo-learned debate over religious minutia for any genuine spirituality... sound like anyone you know?

Chef, take care of your spaghetti business, thing is I don't care if you agree or not, I just say it the way I see it. I just preach and or teach what God puts on my heart, if it offends so be it.

I think, no I know that Jesus and the apostles offended many.

I do forget to add the phrase "But Jesus" which is what got me saved.

Through all my sins and transgressions, and shortcomings that was leading me to hell"But Jesus" still died for my sins.

People want to stay in that gray area where they neither feel right or wrong, just in the middle, I still see black and white, either it's biblical and right or it's not biblical and it's wrong and that is just the way I see it.

-- Posted by michaelbell on Wed, Mar 3, 2010, at 5:58 PM

You want the truth with no cotton candy or fuzzy ducks, give John Hagee or Perry Stone a listen, but then again, neither of you are on their skill level, so you wouldn't understand them.

-- Posted by michaelbell on Tue, Mar 2, 2010, at 7:03 PM

Anybody that has any training in preaching is beyond your skill level Mr Bell. Self-professed 'preachers' like you bring down all the real ones out there, who took the time and work to learn how to lead and teach others. My skill level is high enough to know that you lack the work ethic to be a real preacher. Set in front of the TV and watch your heros work. At least they do not bash those that do not agree with them.

How can stuff on here get so twisted and turned around? The devil is the author of confusion.

-- Posted by honda14 on Wed, Mar 3, 2010, at 10:14 AM

Everyone goes to church but no one comes on here and speaks on what they learned in church Sunday. Why is that? Didn't anyone learn anything or did the preacher just talk about the same old thing he has always talked about?

I would love to hear about what someone learned in church Sunday!

As far as the end times go, most of us will never see it. The bible tells us that no one knows the... HOUR nor the DAY! So, someone may pick the right year, month and week but not the day nor the hour.

TO everyone's disappointment, the Tribulation occurs before Christ returns and the Rapture doesn't happen until Christ returns, so that ought to tell you something.

What everyone has to watch for is a One World Government. This will usher in a one world Religion that must happen before the end, controlled by the False Prophet.

Then we will have famine and an Abomination of Desolation, confusion and a Totalitarian Government out of control.

When this happens, the anti-christ will step in and make everything right. Then the beast and his image and his mark, come along and deceive the people til they worship the beast or his image or use his mark to survive.

THEN YOU WILL KNOW the End is very Near! All these thing must happen first. However, like Evil Monkey and Chef Boy R.D. says. It will be like the days of Noah. Everyone will be going about their daily lives as normal when Christ returns and the heavens roll up like a scroll.

-- Posted by gottago on Tue, Mar 2, 2010, at 8:38 PM

To both sides of this issues. We ALL need to act like Christians on here. It's ok to disagree with your Dogma, but don't be ugly about it. I don't agree with either side totally, but I do that in most situations. Christians need to really start acting like Christians toward each other if we ever expect non-christians to even be interested in gaing a relationship with Christ. As some have said it better than me, we are in this world but not of this world.

-- Posted by Sharon22 on Tue, Mar 2, 2010, at 8:13 PM

Let see here, Chef, and by the way you to Lazarus, Jesus talked more of end times and hell than heaven, what may be the end for you is only the beginning of eternity for me. You want uplifting and joyous, go watch Joel Osteen,

You want the truth with no cotton candy or fuzzy ducks, give John Hagee or Perry Stone a listen, but then again, neither of you are on their skill level, so you wouldn't understand them.

Oh the end times.

Posted by Chef Boy R.D. on Tue, Mar 2, 2010, at 3:50 PM

Chef,

The end for the goats is merely the great beginning for the sheep.

Mr. Bell is preaching on something joyful and uplifting.....at least it sounds that way to us sheep.

The goats look in dread, fear and terror of what they call the "end times".

The sheep look up in joyful anticipation of this same day, only we call it the "beginning times".

Same day, different outlooks.

-- Posted by Blessed Assurance on Tue, Mar 2, 2010, at 6:13 PM

For some reason I can't get the following verses off my mind after reading some of the above comments???

2 Peter 3

3Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

4And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

-- Posted by Blessed Assurance on Tue, Mar 2, 2010, at 6:02 PM

Amen, Chef.

I'm quite thankful I've never believed this 'end times' bunk.

-- Posted by gottago on Tue, Mar 2, 2010, at 4:16 PM

Oh the end times. People have been preaching about it for two thousand years or so now. You take any natural happening and twist it into the end is near. Folks, you don't have a clue when it is, so quit wasting your time whining about and start living. When it comes, it comes. Case closed. You are either in, or out.

Surely Mr Bell, you can come up with something more to preach on than just the end times, homosexuals, and heathens. How about something joyfull and uplifting. Or is that beyond your skill level?

-- Posted by Chef Boy R.D. on Tue, Mar 2, 2010, at 3:50 PM

honda14,

I think Paul said it well also in his letter to the Phillipians.

Phillipians 4

7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

It is such a peace that is hard if not impossible to adequately describe and explain.

-- Posted by Blessed Assurance on Tue, Mar 2, 2010, at 11:43 AM

Blessed Assurance,

It sure is! I have such a peace that I can't explain. I know that everything is gonna be alright when the "world" says otherwise. But then again, I am not of this world and will never be. Praise God for that!

-- Posted by honda14 on Tue, Mar 2, 2010, at 8:58 AM

honda14,

The joy, peace and assurrance you exhibit are the fruits that the Holy Spirit provide in us and people will know us by.

Isn't it wonderful to be at peace with God through Jesus Christ and experience the joy of knowing we have such assurrance.

-- Posted by Blessed Assurance on Tue, Mar 2, 2010, at 8:10 AM

I know this about the end times, We are one day closer today than we were yesterday. I agree in part we EM that events have occured in history that Christ could have come back, but we can still study his word and keep that relationship in check. I think we can garner a lot of information from the Bible about what God teaches about the end times. We just have to remember that only HE decides when that will be.

-- Posted by Sharon22 on Mon, Mar 1, 2010, at 4:38 PM

It is true that the end times are here and they grow closer everyday. I hope that people out there don't think that God is the one who is causing these things. It is the enemy that comes to kill, steal, and destroy. We live in a fallen world and things are going to happen. They are happening more now because the enemy is running out of time and he is trying to turn more and more people away from God. That is so evident in today's society. But praise God! This is an exciting time to be in or at least I think it is especially if you are a believer and follower of Christ. I am excited about the Lord's return. I know that no one knows the time that the Lord will return but God does give us wisdom and the signs to know that it is coming soon. I am so excited as should every believer and follower of Chirst. Notice I did not say Christian. That is because some Christians get caught up in the "religious" part of it. They claim to know Jesus and they DO have the "head" knowledge of Him, but do they really know Him and have the "heart" knowledge? There is a huge difference! As I have said it before....It is a relationship, not a religion. Glory....it is a good day to follow Christ Jesus!!!

-- Posted by honda14 on Mon, Mar 1, 2010, at 11:56 AM

And this happened during the Insurrection, The Black Plague, World War I, World War II, and... the list goes on. If Christ was going to return wouldn't it have been during those times as well? Sure was a lot more feasible back then. Weather changing, earthquakes, plague, starvation all happened during those periods of time as well. Guess what?

They were saying the same thing then as well.

No-one knows when he is coming. Period. No reason to even have that discussion.

-- Posted by Evil Monkey on Mon, Mar 1, 2010, at 10:45 AM

Matthew 24:5-8 gives us some important clues so we can discern the approach of the end times, "For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places." An increase in false messiahs, an increase in warfare, and increases in famines, plagues, and natural disasters--these are signs of the end times. In this passage, though, we are given a warning: we are not to be deceived, because these events are only the beginning of birth pains; the end is still to come.
