Things That Get On My Nerves!

I was given a copy of a e-mail that a friend received and it was credited to several people which I will not name.

I checked Snopes and it has been floating since 2003 or even earlier maybe, who knows?

People call me , bigot , racist redneck and other names which I cannot and won't mention here, but personally I don't care I ain't here to please you anyway.

You see a person with a rebel flag or a cowboy hat and you assume "redneck" I have both I might add, lest you forget they are a part of our history.

Since nobody claims this e- mail I will post a few items from it, though I did not originally write them, I do agree with several of them and I think several others would to if they had the brass to stand for something.

I know what sex is, and there are not varying degrees of it. If I received sex from one of my subordinates in my office, it wouldn't be a private matter or my personal business. I would be "FIRED" immediately!

I believe that if you are selling me a milk shake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak English!

My father and grandfather didn't die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours. I think the police should have every right to shoot your sorry self if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can't understand the word "freeze" or "stop" in English, see the above lines.

I feel much safer letting a machine with no political affiliation recount votes when needed. I know what the definition of lying is.

I don't think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store, or any other business.

We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations.

I don't hate the rich. I don't pity the poor. I know pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television. That doesn't stop you from watching them.

I believe a self-righteous liberal or conservative with a cause is more dangerous than a Hell's Angel with an attitude.

I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that's better, and put your name on the building. Ask your buddy that invented the Internet to help you.

It doesn't take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid; and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say "NO!"

I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don't pretend they are a political statement. And, please, stay home until that new lip ring heals. I don't want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me french fries!

I am sick of "Political Correctness." I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa; so how can they be "African-Americans"? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe. I am proud to be from America and nowhere else.

My ancestors were American Indian, Scottish and Irish and Dutch, who were all oppressed minorities at one time and even slaves, do I get reparations for them.

A city in California is forcing a home church to get a permit to have bible study because of the excess of people at one residence, no permits needed for keggers or sporting events needed.

I don't believe in violence toward anybody, but if attacked, color sexual preference, or race does not matter to me,I will defend myself, but because they are a minority. would I be found guilty of hate crimes?

Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.

I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is an opinion.

I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers. The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens. Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.

I have the right "NOT" to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off

ppl,ppl I could never understand why the color of my skin would make someone scared of me. I try to be the best person that I know how to be .Living in bedford co as a black person is hard to do look at it this way if there's 4 or more black's in a yard then the police are more likely to think drugs.Mexican's have it just as bad they are the new blacks .I love every color and I love everyone I'm just saying whites have a problem that started to long ago and they just cant seem to let it go not all whites cause you have some blacks that feel the same as the whites around here.BEDFORDco is just not the place for young blacks.

You are quite right. You never said the word black was unacceptable. My apologies for saying that you did. I was wrong. I don't think that the colour of ones skin has anything to do with the contents of ones soul. I know the contents of my own soul are definitely not white ..lol. I like to think there is a whole rainbow going on in there ;)

stonedseksi, never said the word "black" wasn't acceptable....cool, If you don't know the "N" words I was implying. Black is not offensive, you may use it to describe the color of ones skin, I wouldn't want it to describe the contents of ones soul.

Black is fine, so why on gov't documents does is say, "black, not hispanic" So it's not just black people who don't know what they should be called.

At least with the term "African American" you have a 50/50 shot of ppl thinking you speak English!

Nathan.evans, Thank you for pointing out where extreme intolerance can lead, but where does extreme TOLERANCE lead? I am not a christian. I disagree with many of Mr. Bells views. But, having lived in England for several years, I have seen firsthand what happens to communities when foreigners (muslims, in this case) flood into a place and expect it to change to accommodate them and be "tolerant" of their lifestyles. There are places there where they even have their own courts and judicial systems.

I am all for change .. as long as it is good. I do not wish to be forced to speak spanish, or any other language for that matter, within the boundaries of America. This is an english speaking country.

I do not understand at all why someone who has never been to, nor in most cases, can even find Africa on a map, should be referred to as "african-american". The term is misleading at best and, in my opinion, an outright lie. Also, it implies that before one is american, they are something else. I believe the term detracts from our unity as countrymen.

FreedomofSpeech, you said the term was less offensive than calling someone black. Why is using the word black to describe the color of someones skin offensive? Words are just words. Their power in is the context and intent with which we use them. I doubt that on birth certificates and such, where "black" is offered as an option, there is any malicious intent.

Mr Bell, having already said that I am not a christian and disagree with many of your views, I would also like to add that I read your blog regularly. I have found that by listening to views and opinions from all over, even those that (gasp!) are not aligned with my own, I am better informed and better able to decide my own positions. So, even though we may disagree, thank you for putting yourself out there and opening up dialogue.

I never said that now did I? There are several good churches that are here and abroad, just with my schedule, a certain start time and day are always in question.

Never thought I would be considering leaving the church setting for a home church and bible study, but that seems to be the crossroads I am at.

Something like a bonfire service or front porch service where we give testimonies and praise God without all the church trappings, all would be invited.

Wow, so what what I'm reading one who preaches should live a poor life? Hmmm.... I agree that there are plenty of pastors out there that take advantage of others, but someone like Perry Stone? He has been blessed by God. And did in your Bibles a little further. Jesus was not some "poor guy taking handouts." He is a KING for goodness sake! People GAVE Him what He needed. Wouldn't you give Jesus your best?

And I read a comment that said "Just were does the money come from for his tv ministry?? some poor struggling person living on a fixed income" I see it like this.....if they are tithing and giving their earnings then God will bless them a hundred fold. I know this because I live it myself. My husband and I tithe to our church and God has mutliplied our earnings and finances. Plus I know that my $$$ is going to minister to those who don't know Christ. And if perhaps the money we give is used the wrong way then God will deal with that person. I do what the Lord tells me, I trust Him, and I reap the benefits. God is so good!

If you're a "preacher" why don't you go out into the streets and preach your disturbed message? I'd love for you to ask a neighborhood or congregation of "African Americans" why they use that term! Compared to the other alternative of Colored words, it's the least offensive. I wouldn't want my childrens birth certificates to read: race: Negro, Colored, N***, like they did 20 yrs ago!

You won't get your answers here, go out, into the flock and find your answers...you'll find the Real World not quite as tolerant as the patrons you peddle your message to here!

what is there to criticize? you came up with your own thought, did enough research to know what you were talking about, stuck to your point (and made it quite well). your thoughts were clearly communicated (i didnt have to read a sentence 5 times before i could figure out what it was supposed to mean). i dont know enough about grammar and punctuation to grade that, but i give you an A on clarity and content. you should take over this blog.

You are free to think and be proud of anything you want in America, and while I don't believe in their message, the Ku Klux Klan are also free to have an opinion and organize. Mounting a rebel flag on the front of your pickup truck does not make you a klan member, but surely you can understand the message that that flag is sending to the world and most of the time it is not historical in nature.

Lazarus, my ancestors same as yours came here in the 16 and 17 hundreds and settled in what is now Appalachia including the Hatfield's, Smith's Wildaer's which I traced back to Sir William Wallace of Scotland and of course Bell's of the famous Bell witch legends.

I have not lost my self reliance, when the time is right God will equip me and lead me where he wants me.

To Nathan I do not support the KKK nor will I ever I do however see a big change in America where whites are becoming a minority and Christian America no matter what color are becoming a minority.

To Lazarus, I never claimed that e- mail it was given to me I researched it, agreed with it and thought is was prevalent for the times.

As far as immigrants go, my ancestors came from all over, but they became Americans and obeyed American laws, unlike some today.

Coming to America and making a opprutinity is one thing, coming here and taking adavantage of all the handouts this nation gives when our own can't get help because of regulations is wrong, but then again that is the American way isn't it.

I could care less about your opinion of me as a preacher, I ain't here to satisfy your opinion or anyone else's for that matter.

I would rayher face God and be told I was wrong or to harsh at times and loose some of my rewards in Heaven, than to be told by Satan that I done a good job.

Hell won't be a party, even for the ones who serve him here.

i am sure it is frustrating to sit there on your fat butt and wait on the good things of america to come to you (just like your master plan to sit on your fat butt and wait on god to make you a great preacher). i am sure it is a lot easier to think of reasons that other people stand between you and the free ride that they MUST be getting. truth is, those people out there who have what you want, have it because they worked for it. those nasty immigrants had the courage to not only get off their butts & get themselves to a place with opportunity, but the ambition to do something once they got there. just like my immigrant ancestors in the 1600's (and yours, when?, you foreigner). fortunately the lessons of self-reliance were not lost in our family.

I've read this EMail chain thru the last 10 years... I think someone said Ted Nugent made these statements, or some similar. Quite frankly, I find no hatred in any of this...THIS is AMERICA, people! ACT LIKE IT or exercise your right to leave!

The Constitution IS a living document but NOT open to interpretation. That's like saying the Bible is a Living Book open to interpretation- Hello??? It says what it says and means what it means. The Founding Fathers were light years ahead of political leaders of today. I'd like to say also that nobody says a word about Mexicans flying their flags in this country so why should your average Southern caucasian be branded a racist for flying a Rebel flag?

We can't teach God in school but it's okay to bring Islam into the same buildings and force on our kids? I DON'T THINK SO! Our local kids have to abide by a dress code and will get in trouble for not wearing a belt but it's OK for a muslim child to wear a head dress for religious reasons? WRONG! Could be a good place to hide a gun or bomb, people!

BTW- Where are MY tax breaks and special programs? I come from a Scots- Irish and Cherokee background tho I never met any of my ancestors. As it says in the blog, were OPPRESSED MINORITIES so maybe I should get a monetary compensation for the cruelty that the Cherokee indians got while walking the Trail of Tears. Or get some back pay when workplaces had signs up saying, "Irish Need Not Apply." I don't see it happening so don't sit on your butts crying about receiving compensation beacause someone in your ancestry was a slave.

You took the words right out of my mouth.

We have a right to be prejudice of anyone or anything. We have the right to like or dislike anyone or anything.

Anything that we have a right to do we have the same right not to do it.

Anything that we have a right NOT to do we have the same right TO do it.

The 9th Amendment says:

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

This means we have many, many, many, many other rights than just those listed in the Bill of Rights or even in the complete U.S. Constitution.

However, if you don't know your rights, you don't have any!
