About MePosted Monday, August 13, 2007, at 4:51 PM
Hello! My name is Nathan Evans and I am very excited to have this opportunity to be a community blogger. I would like to give you some background about me and an overview of what my blog is about. I am 29 years old and I have lived in Bedford County (Wartrace) for the majority of my life. I am currently employed in Shelbyville as a computer programmer. I have a four year old daughter and she is all girl. I live in Wartrace and will continue to for a long time. I am proud to claim the title of United States Marine.
Since age 13, I have spent most of my time studying computer science. I get excited anytime I hear someone say the word megabyte. My first computer was a 486sx with 4MB of memory and an 80MB hard drive running Windows 3.1. It was an awesome machine. I could sign in to the local bulletin boards with my 2400 baud modem and play Legend of the Red Dragon or Trade Wars during the summer months when school was out. My family lived in the country and we didn't have satellite or cable at my house so the only channels we received were 2, 4, 5, 8, and sometimes 17. I have been employed as a computer professional in some shape or form since age 15. Basically I love computers. I plan on using my community blog space to provide you with interesting computer facts, computer tips and tricks, computer security issues that we face daily, along with other technology related topics that you may or may not be aware of. I am sure that from time to time I will place my personal opinions related to the top political stories of the day on this page along with information about upcoming community events. I hope you will find the stories and information that I post here interesting and useful and I look forward to hearing your comments and opinions. Welcome! and God Bless!
Ahh, the wasted hours I've spent playing L.O.R.D. and Trade Wars. Every now and then I think of how nice it was to play those old games like that. Welcome to the blogs. I'm new to this as well, as my post would indicate, but I've been posting my comments on here for a week or so. I'm also an IT, but you've got a MUCH shorter drive than I do, working in Franklin.
Oh good a computer guru...Welcome Nathan
BTW I loved your comments on Global Warming...
Welcome Nathan! Let me also Thank You for your service to our country! It's good to know that I have someone to ask for advice the NEXT time the computer crashs.
William
Nice to meet you and welcome!!
I work in IS/IT and just moved to Wartrace in the past year. I was happy that DSL was available in this area because I was fraid I would have to remain on dialup while living out in the small community but fortunately that isnt the case(Does Charter serve Wartrace? . . they keep sending me advertisements in the mail). I do game some on my pc but perfer to do most of my gaming on the Xbox since I love sports games.
Anyway, look forward to reading your blog.
Thank you all for the very warm welcome. Feel free to e-mail me computer questions you may have and I will do my best to e-mail you an answer in a timely manner. If your problem is not too rare or system specific, I may anonymously post your question and my response on this blog for the benefit of others.
To jaxspike: Charter does offer broadband inside Wartrace city limits and a few areas outside in the direction of Bell Buckle.
I have been interested in becoming a computer programmer for the last three years, and have only managed to get my network plus certification, which has absolutely nothing to do with programming. So any suggestions for a 22 year old soon to be mother? Computers are my passion.
I will post some information soon that will help you take your computer skills to the next level weezie84. Congratulation on completing your network plus certification and more importantly congratulations on your new journey into parenthood!
