I heard a statistic several elections ago that no recent US President was born during the 1930s. A search of the internet yielded the following interesting article that provides a very surprising update to the statistic. I find it kind of odd that we are in the middle of worrisome economic changes so close to an election at the same time that a son or daughter, from a decade that was defined by economic change, has not been represented in the White House and has a very realistic chance of winning. Very odd... Perhaps exlains why most President's since the 1970s have consistently signed into law budgets that can not be paid for.
Great blog!
Healthcare definitely needs to be simplified. One major problem with healthcare is the division of groups by healthcare insurance providers which drives up the cost of individual healthcare. For instance, in a given state, teachers are certified as a group by district instead of the entire set of teachers in the state being certified as a group. This drives up healthcare premiums dramatically. This type of system is perpetuated by the very politicians, though, who now propose to "fix it".
Unfortunately, they're not going to fix anything. At best, they will make the entire system worse. The basic problem is not a healthcare issue, but a moral problem of doing what is right to the exclusion of greed and dishonesty.
