The Dallas Cowboys scored ten points in the third quarter to defeat the Baltimore Ravens 30-3 in a lopsided preseason game this past Wednesday...err...ummmmm....wait, there was no football game played this Wednesday? Holy cow, it was a baseball game!
Actually, it was the last-place Texas Rangers defeating the Baltimore Orioles by that same score. The numbers are amazing. It was the most runs scored in the modern era (36 runs is the ML record), most RBIs ever, Texas had 29 hits, breaking their doubleheader record in just one game. It was a come from behind victory to boot! Amazingly, the Rangers team batting average went up 5 points, and the Orioles team ERA went up 0.21. I ponder the sports milestones we have witnessed during this generation:
1. The greatest golfer ever (Tiger) 2. The greatest hockey player ever (Gretsky) 3. The greatest tennis player ever (Sampras?, Federer?) 4. The greatest basketball player ever (Jordan) 5. Baseball home run record broken 6. Beamon long jump record broken
