Today I learned that Michael Vick will get to retain the bonus money given to him by the Atlanta Falcons when he signed the contract to be their quarterback...amounting to double digit millions of dollars.

So...Michael Vick is made a scapegoat by violating a questionable law (my opinion regarding this is well-documented in a previous blog) that is violated by many others daily, and goes to jail. But he violates a firm agreement that clearly outlines his responsibilities in exchange for remuneration, yet he still gets to keep the money.

Who thinks Vick isn't laughing his butt off in the jail cell right now?

I still maintain: putting a man in a cage for abusing an animal that belongs in a cage is senseless. Take away Vick's livelihood, and he is truly punished.

Now I am going to play with my dog. :)

Ok doc, I've been thinking this statement over in my head for a couple days now and at first my intention was not to post because usually when people are this far removed from reality I tend to walk away. The sheer stupidity of the above sentence astounds me. I can not believe someone, anyone who claims to love anything would be ok with a person just paying financially for abusing a living, breathing companion. I realize dogs are not as high on the food chain as you are, and I understand that. However, what I can't understand is how in your twisted mind they are discounted to the point at which abuse of them is ok. It is not ok. Not now, not ever. I also know that not everyone loves animals as much as I do, but if you could take a look at one of those dogs, bloodied and beaten and tell me that all would be right in the world to just hold that owner financially responsible I would wonder do you even belong in a profession taking care of anything.

Dear Laura,

Last time:

1. Reread my first blog.

2. Find anywhere that I say beating a dog is "OK" or should go unpunished.

Not many have seen more horrors wrought upon living things, animal and human, than I and have remained unsensitized as I. If you wish to view me as a heartless, callous man incapable of caring, so be it. I am not incapable of changing my viewpoint on this issue...I have yet to be presented with a convincing reason to do so.

Love,

Navid

Oh no, you believe one should pay fines but not be imprisoned. Did I make that up or should I copy and paste what you typed in THIS blog?

Laura, I personally don't care for the breed. I know that you do and respect your choice! I also completely agree with your comments. I sickens me every time I see those poor abused dogs on the news. What kind of being could be so cruel or think its OK? No one with any kind of heart!

I know this good Dr and have seen him personally stay all night with his pts if they are not doing as well as he would like. I think Laura has totally misread the blog.
