My name is not Dorothy and I'm definitely not from Kansas, but the last few days certainly have me wondering which way is up!
This is an extraordinary election year and I had the opportunity to call in election results last night to the Associated Press. I was a bit nervous at the beginning of the night, simply for my lack of experience in that department, but thanks to John Carney, the night was a breeze -- in more ways than one.
While we were at the Courthouse, we got word that the fierce storms that had torn through Memphis were headed northeast. Ok, that's enough to make me nervous.
I don't do well with tornado warnings. Having grown up in the Northeast, I can handle blizzards, driving on ice and freezing weather conditions for long periods of time, but when it comes to tornado warnings I turn into Nervous Nellie.
So, with the news of storms heading our way, I knew it would be another night of no sleep. Yes, another night of no sleep.
The night before last, my Shih Tzu dog, Lizzie, gave birth to a litter of six puppies between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. I remained by her side for most of the entire process, and what an incredible process it was!
Last night, it was a combination of puppies and storms that have me feeling foggy today.
But all is well that ends well and that means I stop complaining about being tired right now! I have six beautiful healthy puppies, and I still have a house!
My heart goes out to all of those who suffered from last night's storms.
