Did anyone see A Raisin In The Sun last night?
Just after seven I sat down and began to browse through the channels and saw this was showing. I thought it was wonderful and watched every bit of the 3 hour movie (originally a play), which starred Sean Combs among other great actors. Bill Cosby's wife from the Cosby Show (can't remember her name) was phenomenal. Combs, playing a role very different from what one would imagine him to play, also gave a plausible performance. The movie was about a black family who struggles to agree on how to spend life insurance mone after the death of the family patriarch. I wasn't home last night, so I missed it and of course forgot to tape it - but I loved the original with Sidney Poiter and Ruby Dee. I should check and see if they rerun this one, or maybe if I can rent it.
I liked it. I missed the first 30-45 minutes of it. It had me a little teary eyed on some parts; when his wife was going to try and have the abortion, looking at the tools that were going to be used to terminate the pregnancy. And when his mom broke down with that scream and cry when he gave away all the life insurance money from his fathers death to the crook that ran off with it; that really got me.
